i wouldn't use neither Suse nor Redhat as server. Seems just too way insecure & hard to manage. Debian is the way to go IMHO, i've been using it for a long time now, and when i first changed to it, i noticed immediately how much easier it is to handle, you have the choice, not the installer/distro scripts etc.
Altho, debian needs a lot of work too to work like you want to... like any other distro.
The next choice would perhaps be freebsd.
Red Hat / Suse is desktop/workstation for me, nothing more, but we could argue over this month after month without any conclusions. I like that Red Hat is taking steps towards in security:) I hope they get it done correctly, and after they've got it into a decent phase i'll see into again if Red Hat has to offer me more than debian.
many gamers think that Razer Boomslang is helluva lot better mouse than MX700...
So do i...
Razer Boomslang + some very good mousepad for a gamer type
Cordless MX Duo for more traditional
and for the hardcore coders, if you still want to
get a keyboard then finding is kinda hard, based on experience, but somewhere start 90's to mid 90's manufactured keyboard;) (the best feeling IMHO)
what i would like to know is that will there be car paints like this? Probably not because i see few problems --> 5 years lifetime and for it to be effective you cannot put lacquer on top of it... or perhaps this kind of lacquer, as it is in itself is colorless it could be perhaps a perfect lacquer! (just came up with this) So it starts to fade the paint in 5years? whats the big deal if it is lacquer? the fading effect is much smaller then, and wouldn't touch the real paint surface if there would be ordinary lacquer behind it. even perhaps somekind of lacquer which doesn't break down on something on which this "EcoPaint" does, between "Ecopaint" lacquer and the real paint surface, thus it would ease a lot of changing the surface lacquer every 5 to 10 years:D and cheaper ofc. Also as lacquer it could be applied in cars, altho is there any idea as most people wax their cars...
Also, goverment should perhaps give something for corporations using this kind of paint in big cities, this paint is most surely a lot more expensive, and thus not very attractive choice, but if goverment gives some aid. and the plus said for goverment is that it would drop the cash spent on pollution cleaning stuff.
eating alarm clocks for breakfast oO; LMFAO =D
anyways, i've tried this for long time!
i do not know why, but sometimes i can get up even before the alarm clock, if i psyche myself for sometime when going to sleep.
my 3 alarms set is: normal alarm clock, my mobile phone and computer, the loudest one definately is my computer but too easy to turn the sound off, even it is in different room and i have to walk like 10meters to it, i usually don't remember anything after shutting it down, i've tried changing the order, loudest first, queietest last and vice versa and variations. nothing has helped.
Now i'm going to try the one for deaf.
If it doesn't work, i'll jsut build my own using PIC processor, timer, few "fine quality(tm)" components etc... build a box and make it hard to be turned off. and ofcourse with strong lights etc...;D
but you got the point... and btw, just watched fight club for first time yesterday, it rocks:D
and yes, you are not what you own, it is only the lifestyle part of you.
and yes, most ppl is afraid to change job because of ethic reasons if they are not good enough.
Altho, in your scenarion, selling 12 year old little boys & girls to sex slaves, that would really give some serious bucks, and if you are a worked, and get also some serious bucks... well, there is large temptation to keep on doing it
so they'd need to increase patenting prices and make a scale of patent price by complexity of the patentable thing, and to help the garage engineers there should be an option to ask for govermental patent loan/aid, that would cover 70-90% of the patent costs, and would be a long-term, low interest loan or perhaps it should be an aid?
and with the extra cash they should hire some engineers specialized in some areas to inspect the innovations. Better patenting agency that is.
Actually, even your comment is moderated funny, i say there is a very small difference between 40fp, 50-60fps, 90fps++, visible in playing PERFORMANCE --> reactions & shooting accuracy.
I've played a lot of CS&Quake, and when i ran it with lower fps (in cs you can limit from console also), i tended to shoot a bit here and there but not hitting the target, and reactions seemed not to be as good, compared from the results.
Yes, i know, human eye can see ~24pictures per sec... but then again how you explain it that a game running @ 30fps seems still sluggish when there is just about any movement? ofc, heavy movement & action on the screen slows the game down & fps drops, but that was not what i ment...
and it is usually common to say that it doesn't matter if it just keeps over 24fps at any situation... well how do you explain the performance differences then? time after time, same results...
yeah, i'm going to be flamed because of that, but that is how i see it, that is how i experience it, that is my conclusions.
and to the topic --> Quake3 is nice, you can get CS to work under linux (you can even get it to work with normal wine... winex not requires), with winex almost any windows game runs(or thats what they say). if you use WineX --> MU Online(not lan, internet), Project Entropia, Rally Trophy, NFS:U, there are a lot of good games out there...

i agree with that! It is very simple mathematics, and a bit has to be knewn before actually trying first time(that little is that you know you can try it out:D) Anyways, when everyone else offers server hotel services for 150e/month minimum, this is being 1:10 shared 10mbps half-duplex con, sharing based on 'best-effort'(no qossing even oO;), with a max of 5ips... and at MAX nameserver usage for _1_ domain.
Well, with simple arrangements, i managed to cut the price to half, plus increase the bw per user (1:7 sharing), plus putting on top: hardware firewalling, nameservers and e-mail servers. Didn't even make hard, and i have still several hundred percentages profit per 10mbps half-duplex link. and still, datacenter is in very expensive area, in the core of our capital, and not even on core but the most expensive area anywhere in our country! (well, atleast as far as i know).
afaik, DMCA cannot harm me, as i live in Finland;) So any US residents keeping up an site with something DMCA lawyers wants to bill ya --> contact me when you are looking for hosting;) AFAIK, they cannot even do anything to ME nor people hosting their sites on MY server if an US resident views the pages and they do not like it, thanks to human rights, right here in Finland;) Tho, they can bitch to the surfers, but can they REALLY afford to hunt down single users, especially when they cannot see the server logs?
DMCA sucks a big time, what harm can some manuals do to any business, i cannot understand that point >_ anyways, a game older than what, 4-5years, do those still generate even SOME revenue? well, perhaps some, very little, put do they end up to profit from it still? i doubt.
Perhaps, some day DMCA will be dropped =)
(3 days later, 3 men with black suits arrives to my door: 'We are from DMCA & Human rights humiliation Agency, please open the door immediately!'......;) correct me if i'm wrong, but i've understood that DMCA attacks against human rights also, and heavily, hindering free information flow etc..., and i really hope that if i'm wrong, somebody correct me and i can re-evaluate my opinions;)
imho US Judge cannot decide can they be sued in the US or not, it should be their local/national judges in australia who decide it, does the fscking us think to be center of the world and that they could do anything they want? To me it looks like the US judge is doing against the 'international laws' (is there anything else than a lot of agreements?), Australia's judges/Australia's goverment has the jurisdiction over the law in their country not the US.
I will make sure that i will not export or help export to US in my life-time if that continues.
(NOTE TO MODERATOR WHO IS US CITIZEN: Think objective, not just that you are US citizen, unable to be thinking objectively and moderating upon emotions, national strings etc... is poor moderation.)
off topic i know, but yes, RealTek nics suck but there is one thing to remember: they are the most easiest cards available, they are just like plug & go, don't know why, but i've ran into more problems with nearly other brand. Seems like the cheapest cards are the easiest to use, maybe not the fastest & technically even mediocre. And yes i know, configuring a NIC is a really basic stuff but i've seen beginners fiddle around with 3coms etc... couldn't get them to work somehow amazingly, but as soon as i handed them an SMC or RealTek NIC they got it working. And i remember the first time i was setting up an lan like 5 or 6 years ago (i'm 18) i had bunch of 3Com cards and few realteks, 3Coms were a pain in the ass but got the realtek work immediately. Afterwards i noticed that 3Com EtherLink III has an dos configuration utility tho and first time when i was setting up an lan, other puter had wind0ze and other one had linux.
Not very long ago we happened to talk about different NICs with friends and some others claimed that 3Coms can sometimes be a pain in the ass but the cheap nics worked allways without hickups.
and oh yeah, nice comment about RT 8139 tho =) and sure is right, would it be a working driver if not? =)
this is like third hand information but anyways, i have a relative which knowns someone whos cousin is working at MS as a coder and he has said that place completely sucks, you'd need to work 24/7 without sleep and with a salary way too small to make the management even sometimes be quiet and not bitching about everything. They have very odd rules on top of the regular contract rules etc... I do not know exactly what all things suck there, i was just told that he does not like to talk about his job at all and tries to put the talk to other tracks immediately as someone mentions his work. But it is clear that he hates working for MS but apparently he has no other choice, don't know why tho.
I wonder how much would the older model cost, does anyone know?
Yes i did not read the articles, i'm in a bit of a hurry.
Hehheh, i bet it costs more than i can afford in many many years to come.
And i thought this was done allready a long ago, i remember seeing some copyrighted books in m$ reader format without protections something like a year ago, correct me if i'm wrong.
Aren't they desperate or what to try something like this???
They must be really really desperate, afterall Al Qaeda people are 'professional' (but let's say that professional into wrong direction damnit!)
No, this is not a troll but it really seems to be a very desperate act from desperate people. And afterall Al Qaeda people are professional, otherwise they wouldn't have pulled the thing last year. Although they might not do it for the cash, just for pure idioticy & wrong beliefs. It is not violence which makes the changes nowadays, it's the politics. i just wish that Osama Bin Laden's professionality went to the other way, quite the opposite direction, fighting against terrorism instead of being a terrorists.... Sigh, can i now go back to play CS, oh Please?
My ISP, Sonera, here in finland has just recently started offering a 'Internet Phone' system, you can call within the system, out from the system to normal phones (and cells ofc) and from normal phones to it =) they give you normal phone number and all. costs around 6euros/month, and then there are joining & opening costs also... call to normal phones is 4euro cents/min. From normal phone to that is 8,21snt/call + 0,5snt/min.
So if you'd live in Finland you could get it allready, although i don't know do they require you to get your internet access from them also...
I was allready going to get a new monitor next year, i wonder how much these will cost or will it drop normal monitor prices dramatically.
I wish that monitor will either be around normal monitor prices or not much above it or it would result to drop the prices of regular monitors ^_^ It would for sure to be kewl to play Quake with that one =)
oddly enough my left ear have been hurting couple last days and i've noticed about a year earlier that i have hearing problems sometimes when speaking with certain people, i just 'cannot' hear what they speak properly... and damn i'm only 18! i've been listening mp3s since -97 almost everyday for many hours. Could it be cause of the compression... Hmm, perhaps i just should go to the doctor and ask whats wrong with my hearing...
This is simply kewl, Amiga support ^_^ even partial =D
Looks good also.
Now i must say that i did not read the article, i just browsed the pics.
But if they make it compliant enough and/or easy to port software to it, it seems nice competition to PPC powered market... Where's x86 support please;)
Maybe we will see that someday also.
All new competition to OS market is very welcome in my humble opinion.
Yeah, most today's consumer electronics you can get is very unreliable, for a example a logitech optical mouse i bought a little more than year ago, around year and two months ago. It worked fine until the warranty time is coming to get close, it few times gave me double clicks instead of one or ghost clicks, well this started to be really a problem, giving them all time when the warranty was closed... 3 days before!!! i have cleaned the button & inside of the mouse, tried many tricks but it just keeps giving way too often double clicks & ghost clicks.
Second example is my LG dvd drive i bought same time as that mouse, it's giving a lot of problems now also =(
Also i've seen many brand-new mobos been shipped broken =(
Another example is a Philips Mp3 cd player, expandium 200 or something which my mom bought, was broken also, it wasted batteries very fast =( warranty gave new one on which the batteries last a lot longer and sound volume is a lot higher.
If they make it a possibility to 'win' in the game, make it a bit of a gambling like, restrict the weapons heavily so that you cannot directly get the best weapon, have a lot of unique weapons.
With the 'win' ability i mean you could find some good weapon and sell it for real money or real money trading between players. And also perhaps virtual dice games, roulette etc...;) Charge the players very small monthly fee like 1USD and the weapons etc... costs they get revenue from there but if there just would be a chance that good player could gain cash also. that would be need to be very exactly balanced etc... to not increase pkiller count. for example if they'd make it so that both players fighting needs to have pkilling mode turned on and of course it should be hard to both see what kind of character with what powers they have. This would lead to people taking duels etc... and might create a 'sub-culture' on the game =) With what i mean a very good player is like top 2% could play actually without fees and few could gain from it, and perhaps so that there could be people getting from quests etc... very good weapons all the time and selling to those players in need of them, thus creating it so that few players could play as their work, and this would in time perhaps make so that NPC merchants etc... would be just for the n00bs as there are player groups where some of them goes hunting weapons etc... and one or two stay's in the cities selling that stuff.
