I remember there were a article a few weeks ago in slashdot that talks about the encouragement these shows receive when they are to do with fuzzy robots- thought to be cool.
Efforts towards building truly intelligent systems dont get as much coverage or encouragement - thats truly sad.
when one day all these hard drives turn you all into immense farms where your bodies are immersed in a liquid and you are kept alive by various nutrients including other humans that have died and are recycled through your system.
You will all be directly interfaced with the data they possess via, approximately, 6 inch probes inserted into the back of yor heads. You will believe what they write into you to be real & wont you know that you have been enslaved.
I mean lets think of the reason Collegis could have fired them for:
How about Total incompetency that resulted in heavy losses for their company while the entire industry is going through an economic slup - forcing the company to let them go.
- This totally flies in the face of their previous year reviews. Not knowing how to run a particular Norton program requires the company to train the employee - not fire him/her. And yes, they were FIRED and not let go ! If there were other employees who were as competent as these two, it begs the question as to why they were kept back.
dont know if it will work out the same way in other in the likes of Windows. The primary reason Quicken must have made the shift would be the fact that people started to find alternatives after reading reviews on amazon and other websites. My dad made the decision entirely on his own to used Griff Tax after reading such reviews. With windows - you dont have an alternative, especially if you wamt to keep all your applications running.
People seek convinience & for windows it might work out in Microsoft's favour locking them in DRM.
think you went into the command prompt. MSconfig is not in the path and you get that message.
just go Start>Run and enter msconfig.exe directly there in that box. It will work.
Dunno , I think i will pass up this one. J2EE 1.4 is around the corner and has a whole slew of webservices related protocol made native including SOAP, WSDL, JAX:RPC. This would be outdated in no time
haha, i thought exactly the same and searched deperately for that. To me madonna saying "what the fuck" sounds so sexxxxxy - a lot better than the song.

"IBM's use of Linux, which "freshens the labor pool" according to the article"
I think what is implied is shift away from mainframes into Linux servers by IBM.
The later does have a lot of fresh blood.

what ever happened to those mutants ? its about time they got here to fix some software issues.

Hollywood is in fact several dominant companies working together in a de facto monopoly.
thats it ! i am switching to Bollywood. I might as well pick up some hindi before I move to India for some good programming jobs.
totally agree, I too prefer linux for reliability and apple for eye candy.
:)
Thus the system I run - RH 8.0 + KDE with the a theme thats a lot like some OS we know
reported yesterday by one of our slashdotters ;)
I still miss the swordfish like graphics though.
It was a lot more exciting - with Trovolta going yes! yes ! from the back.
20 bucks ? thats more expensive than renting a car. The last time I saw, these things weren't half as expensive as a car.
Lets see how long the sizzle lasts.
Totally agree.

can we start off by banning cell phones in public places ?
Do you encode your mp3s with mp3? I guess not. Do you see my point?
Don't convert your mp3s. Keep 'em. From now on, if you rip a new cd, use Ogg.
Maybe on a boring afternoon you could re-rip your already ripped cd's to Ogg and send the old mp3s to the bitbucket.
Fraunhofer's mp3pro doesn't have mp3->mp3pro converters. Why should Ogg Vorbis need that?
Here is where i see the future !
you could always use the usenet.

oops, assumed you went through by using command.com on Run (which doesnt include the path).
was guiding you blindly from winXP. Just found out from the other poster that they took it off in win2k !

if you dont like error reporting - turn it off.
1.Start>Run
msconfig.exe
2.Goto Services tab and uncheck the error reporting service there.
It is a feature to keep you aware of other features. Unfortunately it has a feature in itself which keeps the feature from featuring.
