What's makes this even funnier is that since your slashdot ID is in the 6 digits, it means you didn't register the name just to make an obvious joke.:)
was compromised by the fact that they were on the take from Saddam
Except that, you know, the americans are the ones who helped Saddam get to power over there and helped him for many fears before the first Gulf war. Basically, the puppet they established in Irak at one point said F-U to the states and the Bush father wasn't happy with that so you had the first gulf war.
I totally agree. We've been fighting the same fight here in Québec, Canada for years now. Everything is in french everywhere, except Montreal which is bit more bilingual (but not that much) since a lot of tourists come here. I'd pity the fool who'd go outside Montreal, for example to Saguenay Lac St-Jean and tried to even order poutine in english.:p You'll want to learn the language AND the culture. Since Quebec's culture is nothing like the rest of Canada.
Well, Nintendo appears to be dominating right now, but if you look at sales in North America since it launched, you'll notice that Microsoft has sold 200K units more than Wii's so far and about a million more than PS3. So what does this mean. Since the Wii sales seem to be slowing down if you look at the chart, it means that the 360 and the Wii are pretty much going to be neck to neck in the next few months, until heavy hitters like GTA4, Mass Effect, Blue Dragon, Halo 3, Mario Sunshine and Metroid Prime 3 launch. I'm sure there's a few other AAA titles on the Wii coming soon, I just don't know about them. If the 360 can match the Wii in sales and Sony doesn't pick up steam real quick, the North American market will pretty be much owned by the 360. As for Europe, I can't tell. Japan is pretty much a no brainer. I bet the Wii and DS will continue to dominate there for a few years I think. Unless the Wii becomes just a fad. Which, I hope it won't be because I'd be sad to see Nintendo go away, but I wouldn't be surprised if people got bored of their Wiimotes.
Actually, that might be a bad idea. I think Clippy was a side product of Microsoft Bob, which was helmed by Bill's wife at the time. So that would be a sure way to get you fired.:P
This is about consumers finally standing up against the bullshit being fed to them by media giants. No. Those are nerds in their basement who feel safe in the anonymousity of the web who would shit their pants if they tried to stand up for the same issue in real life.
If anything, online petitions are such furor have proven time after time that most (but not all, see Sony rootkin fiasco) of the time, when people complain on the web, nothing happens.
There was a party at one of my co-workers recently. All the development team was there. Most of the people there were non gamers. So we rented a Wii and hooked it up to the projector. Everybody picked up Wii Tennis really fast.
Personally, I'm not sold on the Wii. Yeah, Wii Sports is fun, but it's boring as hell playing by yourself. I'd rather sink my teeth in some deep RPG or something beautiful and adrenaline pumping like Gears of War. But's that just because I'm not the target demographic *so far* for the Wii. Bite-size games don't appeal to me. That's just the way I am. Maybe someday when I don't have a lot of free time I'll prefer small simple games, but for now, I'm having too much fun playing games like Oblivion, Gears and soon (I hope) Mass Effect and Blue Draon. Yeah I know, Zelda, but hey, I haven't like Zelda games since "Link to the Past" on the SNES and "Link's Awakening" on the Game Boy.
On the other hand, these people are casual gamers, people who quit a long time ago or non-gamers at all, people in their 30s, and early 40s. Their sentiment? Not one of them wanted to buy a Wii even after enjoying it for a while. They all though, "Yeah, it was fun, but I don't feel the need to play it ever again".
In other words, and I've seen this before, a lot of people seem to like it, but don't feel the need to play again, let alone buy one. So I guess mileage may vary.
I know my reply is kinda off-topic to your post, but it just came out that way.:)
I wouldn't be surprised if the very high majority of people who bought Wiis so far were Gamecube owners. I'd love to see figures on that.
I doubt the nation would be in mourning over it, many people would probably be celebrating No, this is exactly why I replied to your original post. I think it's sad when people are happy about the death of others. It shows how out of touch people are. That person you hate is probably a father/mother husband/wife to someone. Wishing someone you hate dead is just stupid. It shows how society just doesn't want to do the right thing. Go kill Saddam, invade Iran, whatever.
While I can understand that FMV can bring something new to the table, I think it's foolish to claim that emotion couldn't be done or was very hard prior to FF7.
Sure, some people think they are cool because they only love old RPGs, and those are elitists assholes.
But to me, I hate being force fed imagery and I believe it's good for people to make up their own damn mind about something. Think a little, it's good for the soul. That's why I prefer books to movies. I still love movies a lot tough and watch a lot of them.
Galaxy of Starcraft or any other MMO. Please stay true to the Starcraft roots Blizzard. There are enough MMO right now and besides why would you create something that would take WoW players from you and convert them to GoS players?
I want the rest of the story. I want to see it all. I need a really good RTS so I can justify buying a new computer. I know there are a bunch of really cool RTS right now, but I'm a console player and nothing less than Starcraft 2 can bring me back to PC gaming.

It was a lot harder to develop an attachment for the previous games, when all we had were sprites.
Yeah, because, you know, it's was harder to development attachment to characters in books before we made movie version of them, because all we had were words.</sarcasm>
meaning that reality exists when we are not observing it So I guess this means that a tree falling in a forest DOES make a sound even if nobody is there to hear it.
I think what the other poster meant was that last quarter the 360 part of the division actually turned a profit, then said profit was eaten by other stuff like Zune. And again, that 5.4 billion lost is not only xbox and 360, but IPTV and other entertainment stuff.
So killing 360 right now wouldn't make any sense, if the 360 business actually made a profit. What they *could* reevaluate is the Zune and IPTV business.
Let me be the devil's advocate by saying you aren't paying 21.50 in patents fees. Actually, Microsoft is losing 21.50$ on each licenses it sells. See, the price of XP has been going down over the years, not up. So the consumer is paying less and less for XP, while Microsoft is paying more and more legal fees.
I'd show the man more respect if I were you. He often makes bold comments that might be true or not, but when it comes to predicting changes in the industry, he is more often right than wrong. Just look at his track record for his predictions.
You said : You failed to answer why it costs MORE than the game. He said : The contracts have to be renegotiated on a new platform
That pretty much sums it up. I bet the owners of the songs got greedy and wanted to get paid more per songs since they know how popular Guitar Hero is. Don't be surprised if the next Guitar Hero costs more and has less songs.
How about as my sig?
and the fact all things, including 7, which is lucky,, are better in twos
You must be the brain behind Microsoft's console name.
If anything, the Bush administration should have invaded North Korean. Now this guy is dangerous. But Irak? Gimme a break.

I can't believe someone just wrote this. Even worse, it was moderated Insightful as of this writing.

You mean in the last 30 years. René Lévesque passed this law in the 80s if I recall correctly.
