But what if some application uses ALT-CLICK for some special purpose. 3D Apps and or apps like Photoshop can sometimes have the strangest mouse/key combinations.
... and it was kinda nice. Instead of telling the whole story, they concentrated their efforts on following The One Ring and Frodo. We didn't get a shot at helm deep, or Ents (besides, it was a play done by students at my University, and no one had a background in theater), but it was still pretty good.
The thing is, Holywood is some sort of monopoly only in the United States. There are thousands of movies made around the world each year made without Holywood even knowing it. I'd barelly call that a monopoly. Maybe locally Holywood is a monopoly, but internationnally, they are just another company.
Somehow, the Nirvana compilation CD that came out a few months ago works perfectly in my computer CD player, but doesn't work in my portable Sanyo CD player. I had to burn a copy of the CD in order to have it work in my portable CD player. And I'm not talking about fancy settings here : I just popped the Nirvana CD in my DVD drive, put a blank CD in the burner, started Nero, choose "Copy a CD" from the CD Burning Wizard, and 8 minutes after I had a "exact" copy which now worked in my Sanyo portable CD player.
You had a group that was identified as "good," another group that was identified as "bad,"
I don't know about you, must most of the cartoons I watched (Looney Toons for example) weren't like that. Sure, the coyote was "evil", but we all loved him, even thought he tried to kill the Roadrunner. It's not the same as any bad guy from G.I.Joe
No need for windows No need for Windows? Damn, Microsoft is destined to buy this competitor and bury it in their "they provided an alternative so we put them in the ground" graveyard.:p
Great, finally someone who like me prefered Dark City. It was so simple yet so deep. Definitely more intriguing than The Matrix. It's a shame that they ended it with a big fight though. But otherwise the movie is perfect.
Damn I hate movie studios when they do something like this? You really think this is the ultimate box set. I won't be. They're making the fourth Indiana Jones movie right now. So i you buy this, 4 years from now when the 4rth movie will come out on DVD, there will be another ULTIMATE SUPER PLATINUM GIGA SPECIAL FU***ING EDITION that will come out with the four movies and a DD of bonuses.
... damn I hated that movie. I never understood what people thought was so good in this movie. I have watched a lot of anime, some serious, some funny, some violent, some that make you think, and Spirited Away was the worst anime I saw ever. I can't see what people find in this movie. For the people who say this is an mature story, this movie was so cheesy, especially towards the end that it made me want to leave the theater only after 30 minutes. There is no story, only a serie of weird events occuring one after the other. At least, that's what I think. You are free to think differently.
It goes on to say that a whole Digital Versatile Disc Could be written in about 3.5 minutes.
Boy it's time for an upgrade!!!
Reason 1) Let's see, 3.5 minutes = 210 seconds If a DVD with dual layer is used, than 9 gigs in 210 seconds means 44megs/second. My HD doesn't do near that!!
Reason 2) I burn a whole CD in 9 minutes (8x CD burner)!!! This thing will burn a whole DVD in less then half the time it takes me to make a CD!!!
I come from Quebec, where that bozo does a lot of his recruiting. I can't believe this jackass could come up with a clone. This man is a lunatic, has been the farce of the entire province for years and no one takes his seriously, except for his followers.
They believe that aliens colonized earth with germs and created humans in their labarotories. They promote masturbation as a way of life, sex with multiple women at a time (especially for the leader of the cult, Rael) and are in favor of fixing the legal age to 16 years old.
And now they claim that they have made a clone? Gimme a break!
I guess it would have to do with the fact that 99% of the time you work in double buffering mode. So a click on a button in the interface will mean you'll have to do an entire redraw of the window, and that is really slow. You have do redrawyour whole desktop, than flip buffers. One cool hack tought would be to always write your UI modifications on the front buffer, but it would be hell to keep track of everything that is under the pop ups. OS widgets are fast : the changes when you interact with a widget are local and don't demand a whole screen redraw, since they work in single buffer environment.
Of course, from a technological angle, cross-platform widgets (we'll call them CPW from now on) are an elegant solution. Design your UI once, and you're done. This seem like A Good Thing.
The problem with CPW is that it gives more time to the user to adapt to your widgets. Of course, one can argue that once you can use the widgets in one environment, you can use them everywhere. That is true. The problem is that not all your users are as good with computers as you are, and it may put an extra strain on the user to learn between the basics of your system and the host OS. How do you drag and drop? How do you move around windows? What happens when you double click on the top? Does it maximise? Does it roll up just to show the title bar?
Take a clue from the major players in the industry. From what I've heard, Adobe updated PhotoShop to give it the Mac OS X look and feel by using it's native widgets. Many companies are now making wrappers around existing library calls, instead of making widgets. That way you have a unified API for all your supported platforms to design your UI on, but also have the advantage of keeping the usual behaviour and look and feel of an application.
Sadly, I don't know of any public library that accomplishes this. But I'm sure that if you looked around enough, you should be able to find a few.
I mean, if I'm not mistaken, Japan already has high definition digital TV for a few years now and it WORKS! Why didn't american's just borrow the standard. Nooooooo. They had to repeat the whole NTSC/PAL fiasco all over again with designing their own standard and locking themselves in the corner all over again. I live in North America, and I can't believe how much the engineers over here just don't get it. Horray for NORTH AMERICAN STANDARDS. So US and Canada can exchange signals freely. Don't expect the rest of the world to work with your system tough.
Why does it always have to be like this with every American standards? There's always some standard already proven to work somewhere in the world, but we get to get something else.
Well, at least in Quebec. The leader in cable TV, Videotron, recently launched a new service to it's users. It's a PVR system which lets you watch one TV show and record two other at the same time. And it's delivered over cable. That's the same company who delivers also digital TV over cable, and now they added PVR to the list of features. It's sooo good to live in Quebec right now.
You're right. Appart for James Bond who spawned 20 movies so far, and doesn't seem to slow down a little, Star Trek might be the most succesfull Sci-Fi saga/serie ever.
I don't think the regular viewers of Fox are capable of rooting for something with intelligence, something engaging, and something original Even tough the last season were somewhat dull, The X-Files produced quality, original and engaging TV experiences in the first 6 or 7 years.
But what if some application uses ALT-CLICK for some special purpose. 3D Apps and or apps like Photoshop can sometimes have the strangest mouse/key combinations.
... go on the website and look at the screenshot. Since when the title bar to move around a window is unecessary clutter?

then we will call it the Phantom Menace.

Now that's odd

Slashdot readers?
All I can say is... They don't make games like they used to be!!! ;-)

Simple : maybe you can set the opacity of the window so you can watch your neighbourg's wife and TV at the same time!!!

Good luck!
I stand corrected. That's what happens you talk mostly out of your ass. :-p

We've heard it all before...
Moore's law will end, riots in the streets, dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria.
