Yeah, but the thing is, if someone is computer and net litterate enough to find trainers and cheats on the net to "enhance" their skills online, they know probably enough about underdroung culture to find something that changes your MAC address. Especially since the Warez sites and cheat sites who distribute these cheats and cracks are likely to distribute also these MAC address changers.

I don't agree with the part that says the Windows machines can't run a few months without attendance, since I once ran my WinXP professional box where I do development and play games for a month.

I had to reboot once because I wanted to install the new Detonators, but it was rock stable and it obviously didn't leak any memory or ressources since it would be slow after a month of use if it did.

Even tought you could say that I wouldn't have to reboot under Linux to make the change, keep in mind that you rarely need to upgrade the video on your server and most drivers can be installed under XP without a reboot. (this bit added to avoid linux zealots)

I just did a bit of searching of Kazaa, and the book came out very quickly. It's named Order of the Phoenix and it's in the Microsoft Word format. I opened it with Notepad (I didn't want to be infected with a macro virus, if there was one in it) and looked the content. The first line of the document states that it's a fake that someone put on the web just to see how gullible people are and think that this is the real deal. The file contains a part of book four and nothing about book five.

I asked the same question at a bookstore yesterday and I was told that it was comming out in 2003. The book is donem, but J.K.Rowling wants all translations done before selling it. So the book could be done, but it's not out yet since the translations aren't finished.

  17. This is great on Harry Potter strikes back · · Score: 4, Interesting

The Harry Potter books are the best books that I read in the last few years. I've read many good fantastic books (including, LOTR, evidently) and what striked me with the Harry Potter books is that they are so much fun to read. The Harry Potter's universe is very magical with a lot of funny touches and mystical creatures. It's a world you'd like to be part of. I can't wait to read the fourth book which I bought yesterday since I heard it covers even more the magical world of Harry.

It took me a month to go throught the first book since I wasn't so much in it, but it took me a week to go through book 2 and 3. They are that good.

People shouldn't put anyway Harry Potter books because the first books are written toward a younger audience. They are for everyone, as Bilbo the Hobbit, a book Tolkien had written for his kids.

  19. It seems pretty secure on 'Harry Potter' Offered (Legitimately) on the Net · · Score: 2

A lot of people are saying that the file format is bound to be cracked, but I think that Microsoft did a pretty good job on this one. Media files with a time bomb has been here for a few years in Windows Media Player. I remember downloading the Mission Impossible 2 theme from the official site which was in windows media and it had a 30-day life, after that, it wouldn't play. I've never found (thought I've never really searched also) or never heard since then of a software that rips the content and converts it to an insecure format. Same thing with videos. Microsoft has done a good job of making this thing secure it seems. Sure, it still doesn't defeat an analog solution, but then, what does?

Same thing happened with Jason X, it came out a few months on Kazaa before it came out in the theater. The qualiy wasn't very good, since it was filmed in a theather, but I went back to see it at the movie theater when it came out, and it was the same cut as was released on the net a few months before. 23. What the future could be... on How Could TV Survive Without Commercials? · · Score: 2

During the last two summers I worked in a company that makes software for TV companies. One guy there believed, and I agree with him, that the future of television advertisement is in-show advertising, tought it would be more subtle than having Buffy drink a Montain Dew and saying "After a slay, there's nothing like a good Montain Dew, right Xander?"

Basically, television sets would have access to the internet and producers would define hot zones in the video where the viewers can click to get info on some item on the screen. You like that top Buffy is wearing and would like to see your girlfriend in it? Then just click on it and you will be redirected to the website of the company who makes and sells it. You can then buy it. I can't tell what would happen if you actually clicked on Sarah Michelle Gellar tought... Never have you been harassed to buy the product. Everybody is happy. You found something you wanted, and they've found a customer.

It could easily get out of hand (maybe Steven Speilberg had this type of advertising in mind when he made Minority Report and has made sure his movie would be friendly to the future technology), but it's definitely an interresting idea.
