When analyzing the mean-year trend of the Earth's surface temperature for the past 140 years one can discern two sections of monotone linear increase of temperature during two last industrial centuries. The first one begins somewhere in the period 1906-1909. The previous segment demonstrates a weak decrease in the temperature trend, not increase. For explanation of this sudden break we look for a phenomenon of cosmic scale during this time which could have given rise to beginning of global warming with a significant probability. On the 30th June 1908 Tungus meteorite exploded with the power of ~15 Mt TNT at an altitude of ~10 km. Such an explosion could cause considerable stirring of the high layers of atmosphere and change its structure in mesosphere. The difference between this mesosphere catastrophe and atmospheric nuclear tests that cause another break in the temperature plot is discussed. The purpose of this report is to open the debate and to encourage discussion among scientists.

    http://www.news24.com/News24/Entertainment/Abroad/ 0,,2-1225-1243_1896256,00.html

Los Angeles - The independent co-producer of Crash, last week's surprise winner of the Oscar for best film, said that she was broke, a Hollywood journal reported on Friday.

Cathy Schulman mounted the stage at Hollywood's Kodak Theatre last Sunday alongside Crash director Paul Haggis to accept the golden statuette for best film, beating out the favoured Brokeback Mountain.

But the film community's honour for her work has not translated into financial compensation.

"I have the interesting distinction of having made five movies in a row without being paid. I can't pay my bills," Schulman said, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Schulman is battling Crash co-producer and former business partner Bob Yari over two million dollars in expenses and bonuses related to making films.

Yari insisted that she go without salary for the five years she worked with him, she said.

Yari himself is contesting in court the decision of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which awards the Oscars, and the Producers Guild to not credit him as a Crash producer.

Both organisations define "producer" as someone who works actively on a film, and not just finances it.

Crash, produced for just $6.5m, had earned $83m worldwide before it won the Oscar, according to reports.

You get privacy and can have 'fun' or just enjoy the movie with options to rewind the good bits or pause

Earth-dwellers experienced a very different reality. From coast to coast, came complaints of voter intimidation, erratic machines, and crazy numbers.

The morning after the 2004 presidential election was eerily similar to the morning after the 2000 presidential election. All the well-founded predictions that George W. Bush would lose went out the window, and he was once again,
