US$10 a month? Fine. Here's my money order in NZ$... What, payment in US$ by credit card only?
Well, that $10 is fine, if they'll let me PAY IT. I don't have a credit card, nor can i get one as i don't earn enough to be eligible for one. So, as a non-US gamer, that cuts me out of playing MMORPGs. (and WoW sounded so nice, too...)
When was IE last guilty of 'keeping up'? Isn't it in 3rd-party-only development limbo? (apart from the long-awaited pop-up blocker - how long until that's useless, i wonder? - and other SP2 stuff for XP, that is)
Awwww, i wish i still had my copy of that book... Of course it helped my enjoyment of it in that i'm almost incapable of analytical thought... or good grammar, as this post shows... (but seriously, it was a good read)
Actually, 2012 is the year the Mayan calendar's cycle ended, which has been picked up as the date for the end of the world by some.
(Personally my money's on Atlantis being located beneath the antarctic - google for 'charles hapgood crustal displacement' sometime)
Ah, but you forget - there will be those who do it, 'double' their capacity, and immediately email or message all their friends to brag of how l33t they are... They then start storing stuff on the new partitions and wonder why their computer falls over... And are unable to fix it and get back online to warn their friends until it's too late...
It's a nice idea that doesn't always work - as a kid i was both amazingly gullible and pliant. I was just lucky that i wasn't taken advantage of (i would have made the perfect fallguy).
Even now, spending time with people i don't know well is hard work - interpreting social cues as best i can, working out how to reply to comments (when i can hear them - sensory problems are another hurdle) without embarrassing myself. And there is little that's considered 'a good time' that actually interests me anyway.
For some of us, socialising is hard work with no apparent gain.
Aspergers isn't necessarily as bad as you are portraying it - at least, not always and not necessarily as visible. (I have a diagnosis of AS (Aspergers Syndrome) myself, so i think i have some idea of what i speak.)
There is a great deal of variation in the intensity of an autistic person's behaviours (for AS is a 'milder' form of autism); in my case i'm pretty clueless about social cues and pretty much lost in social group situations.
Autistics aren't the emotionless robots we're all painted as, although the way we can express our emotions can be so powerful/uncontrolled that it's considered dangerous, or so subtly expressed that the emotion is simply not seen as such.
Humour varies with autistics just as it does with everyone else; i have something of a reputation amongst my peers (both autistic and not) for my wit (when the joke works, which is usually the case).
But AS is a serious obstacle when seeking (or attempting to remain in) employment, and it can make social contact something of a challenge (for both sides).
Yes, it's a handicap, but not always incapacitating.
They can't stop the hard-core pirates, but their efforts are aimed at stopping the kid who wants to install the game they just bought on their friend's computer as well as their own. It's mostly just nuisance value - until users just rent their copy of Windows, and only play the games allowed to run on their computer under their license with Microsoft.
I'm a new convert to them as well - bought myself an n45 for xmas to replace my original-model Sidewinder gamepad.
It was awful to configure at first, until i downloaded the latest drivers/utilities from the belkin site, but since then it's been smooth sailing.
Now i can start looking at building a Mame controller using the old sidewinder!
(Tried a thrustmaster pad as well, before getting the Belkin one, but had a godawful time trying to find the drivers, since they didn't come with the new gamepad and i couldn't access their site that day. Ended up returning it a couple of hours after i bought it, as my hands hurt after just 10 minutes use)
obviously no. If someone has a valid XP licence they should be allowed to use it in any way they wish to and this includes the NTFS driver.
The flaw in your argument: use of "obviously" and "should" instead of giving a reason why Microsoft would allow this. (Allow? Yes. Until their EULA is declared illegal or void, it's a legally binding agreement with MS software users - even when it's stupid.)
I almost exclusively buy games second-hand, which means i sometimes don't get a manual. One test of game design is whether a game is playable sans manual - lets mention Master of Orion 3 here...
I think games that are 'intuitive' and easy to pick and just play are getting thin on the ground on the pc, as it's easier just use lots of keys or some fancy mouse-driven system. I'm not saying that the consoles are neccesarily better due to their comparitive lack of control options, but that lack makes an intelligent system more of a necessity.
The trend (on the pc) to make the same games (FPS/RTS) and then just try to differentiate on minor details doesn't help much.

Taking MS to court in Oz would stand more chance than trying to do so in the states, where they've already bought the politicians.
Virgins? gee, we're not going to find any around here.
er, hang on a minute...

Why? They can't spell or use correct grammer either...

Have to wonder if this process will shorten the life of the cd the way adhesive labels are rumoured to do...
Re-#4: Never assume someone with AsPergers isn't artistic - some of the most creative people i know have AS.

Some of us do recognise that we don't, and that's probably worse. (Speaking as an adult with Aspergers)

And the public either believe them, or vote for them anyway.
Way to go MS - stifle creativity, advancement, technology. ...and competition though interoperability or open standards?
Bear in mind that some of us don't play multiplayer - if the single-player experience is great, then that's all that's important for us.
Sure it's fun... (Just listen to the title song)
A better better link

(Ok, so i'm paranoid)

If they can see (and achieve, at least in the short term) profits for their company, what matters reality?
