  1. Why do people use this shit anyways? on TurboTax DRM Writes to Your Boot Sector?! · · Score: 1

The online tax services are just as good for 90% of people out there. most people can file free now. Plus you don't get left with outdated and useles software after April 15th.

  2. Re:I briefly worked for these guys on Joltage Powers Down · · Score: 2, Interesting

Yeah, well who is saying that growing up in a world of customer service is bad....I think this was a cop out comment because Joltage provided little to NONE! Their message board system only worked half the time and the answers were vague to stupid. When YOUR software wouldn't install I was instructed to reinstall my server.....that is a typical Microsoft answer. It was lame too. The other problem was this garbage was written in Java. Hopefully someone will come along and properly implement a windows service that does what Joltage promised....but actually works!

  3. and they intend to do this how? on RIAA Unveils Net Tracking Tag for Online Sales · · Score: 3, Funny

and exactly what kind of file format can this tag be imbedded into? in order for it to work you have to have a transport medium. Yet another brilliant idea from the people who brought us Hillary Rosen.

It's the only way phone companies can really strike out at cable companies. Makes it interesting though...what if they did broadband bonding where you could get data down both the sat and the DSL line? This could certainly make inroads in the rural customer segment.

....the big 3 ISPs have seen the writing on the wall for a LONG time, yet they continued to expand their POTS infrastructure...ESPECIALLY earthlink. They better figure it out really freaking quick that when users find out that they can work just a little harder to find the same content through a non-branded ISP, they are going to drop their asses in droves. Looks like they already are. AOL has the potential infrastructure through Time Warner Cable...Earthlink has been able to finesse some cable sharing deals, but MSN going the DSL only branding route is going to lose if they don't sign some cable sharing deals.
