I'd like to see battery packs made for existing laptops that can have unlimited refills. Just use some CompactFlash as disk, 32 Mb or larger will do fine for an embedded linux system (SDL graphics, tinyhttp server if need be). I have used the SSV systems for this kind of thing.
CompactFlash only has so many times it can write/rewrite, and these have to stay in place for years at a time, probably wouldn't be a good idea. Now, the OS embedded into the Bios does sound like a good idea.

I think that the engineering/ideas in Linux need to mature first. The GUI needs to be unified/the same on all distros, but different distros can have different sets of programs/etc, but should all be interoperable. A better installation method needs to come about, like msi or somthing, and a better uninstaller, and make a thing like program files so it is easier to uninstall stuff, and make a nicer looking taskbar for goodness sakes. Do those things, and you are on your first step to overtaking alot of the windows market, that, and sell it preinstalled on joe sixpacks pc's, and of course, wine should be included. If games were ported to it en masse, it would get alot more marketshare, but first the joesixpack swho just wants email need to adopt it to get about 20% of the market over before game companies will consider developing it.

They don't seem to be doing anything wrong though, since their First Gen iPods were designed to be Mac Only, and I believe the 2nd gen one's will work on PC. Just because the apple made software doesn't support the hack that makes it work on PCs, doesn't make them the bad guy. I think it is time we make a more userfriendly, windowmanager-specific GUI for Linux/FreeBSD/etc that will be accepted by the masses and seen as "Linux", maybe make it official, this is the perfect grounds to get it accepted by the masses, making a unified interface for linux and other derivatives, then see if it is accepted. Make it like windows where all you see the whole time is the user interface, to make it better for the desktop world, some say that choice is good, and the ability to run programs remotely is good, but now days for the average desktop user, this is not very practical, and choice is becoming randomness since there is no standard user interface guideline for Linux. Lets make someone like MacOS X for x86, but based on Linux: fast, easy, etc. I could help with UI development, etc if anyone is interested in starting a project, I'm not much for coding though. Linux needs somthing original. I know, I posted this in the past, but I am wanting to get the word out.
