I'm a music professional and I must say it's crazy to include a program like GarageBand (or even to call it 'GarageBand') with iLife/a new mac purchase (iLife came free with my new iBook). iDvd, iPhoto and the like I can understand. My grandmother can use those programs. But a midi sequencer? You may think the main parent is a troll, but he's got a point.
Arrgh. Those bastards. They still can't get it through their dumb heads that 'AT&T Unix System V' is not Linux, nor does it contain Linux code. They on the other hand are selling GPL'd Linux code for $699 a pop, violating the crap out of the GPL. Hopefully a judge will see how stupid they are and who's at fault.
My ears are all the testing I need to have. Pop in an orchestral cd of your choice to try and see, if you need a test. The "performace" is nothing any classical music listener would call "excellent," unless you enjoy noise.
Even cheaper mp3 encoders in windows don't do well with classical music. I've found that only the Fraunhofer codec does well.
I've tried getting a few Windows programs to work with wine that have the Fraunhofer encoder, but haven't had any success as of yet.:-/
Yes! Make that now 5 total games for mac!
/Okay maybe not so funny. (Yes, I am an iBook user- just trying to make a joke before you all mod me to hell.) :)

Sincerely,

You mean there are people out there who run X with slackware?
/okay maybe not so funny
It IS a midi sequencer. I give up. I hate trying to talk to non-musicians.
Right and that's called a sequencer.

Here ya go!
Here for 6.8.0.
Why would /. post trolling crap like this as an article?
We are really hitting all-time lows here lately. We need to change the site logo to "Bad opinions for nerds."
Slightly OT: Anyone have any scoop on Gnumeric for Windows? Thanks.
I think it does! lol
Whoa now! Easy there, cowboy. Somebody booted to the wrong operating system this morning....
I agree- Mandrake would have my vote: mp3 and DVD playback work out-of-the-box.
Suse 9.1- no DVD playback o-o-t-b; Fedora - no mp3 playback, o-o-t-b.

Brilliant point, but do you REALLY think SCO is smart enough to think of something like this?
Can't buy any of the $.49 tunes though in Linux or OS X. :-/
From the changelog:
From: Guennadi Liakhovetski g.liakhovetski@gmx.de
Update the driver to use the new pci, scsi and module interfaces.
MS should have included a torrent link of their own....
..."IBM tells users not to install Windows XP update"
IBM told its INTERNAL employee users to wait before updating.
Interesting note:
Win98SE out of the box: 19 critical updates
WinXP Pro out of the box: 59 critical updates
There's a new Real Player for Linux! Check it out now.
we have only IE and Netscrap on all campus computers! So a better IE would be nice.
Does this new release offer any way to get the iBook airport cards working in Linux?
I had no problems with the Linux installer, on Mandrake 10.0 and Suse 9.1.
