If the recording industry dies and the artists have to fend for themselves, that means that the S***TY BANDS DIE!
That's right. If people feel the music is worth paying for, they will, otherwise, the artist fades away, without any recording industry to advertise the hell out of it as the best thing since Led Zeppelin. How do you think that groups that get rejected by the RIAA members survive? They make good music, and their fans keep them alive, withouot any help from groupthink courtisy of the RIAA.
I dont want to seem like a troll - but how many people try hacking into a windows machine, daily, and how many people do it on a mac?
They weren't 'hacking' anything. He was talking about a worm. And I'm sure that would be virus makers would LOVE to try and script a worm on a mac. But they havn't succeeded very well, and this is in the ENTIRE LIFESPAN of Applescrip we're talking about. Surely if it was as easily exploitable they would have done it already, many times over, even though less people use a mac than a PC running Windows. Why haven't they?
No software is secure.
But you can at least try your very best to make it secure as possible.
Seriously, why in te world is it possible to make worms under the cover of a Word Document. That functioning shouldn't be in there. Period. There should be no reason that a Word document should do ANYTHING malicious. Why have they kept the functionality intact?
That's right... According to the story, the only thing eBay can't do, is the "Buy it now" thing. Auctions go on as usual.
Am I the only person who thinks this is a bad thing? I'm new to this 'ebay' thing, but I find it extremely convenient when I can simply 'Buy it now' istead of waiting a week for the auction to end and possibly being outbid.
Hopefully they will come up with a solution to this that will bypass this utterly retarded ruling...
Metroid Zero looks more like a 'remake' or a 'true prequel' of the origional Metroid than a 'retexture' and 'beautification'. Some of the screenshots of the game I didn't recognize from anywhere, and the structure seems drasticly different. Even if it is a remake, I think it will be different enough to warrent a purchase.
Are you implying that it's Take Two's fault that multiplayer isn't in GTA yet? Or that they aren't interested in multiplayer at all?
Well, they are probably working on it, and if the AWESOME multiplayer in Midnight Club 2 is any indication, they are doing a great job of it too. Why is MC2 a good indicator? Say that I'm comparing apples and oranges if you like, but am I the only one who sees any similarity between MC2 and GTA3 in terms of the way the cars work? Sure, MC2's a tad more complicated in terms of car control, but when I started playing MC2 I had the oddest feeling of deja'vu...and not from MC1...
(Not that it's a bad thing. MC2 is one friggin awesome game in its own right.)
Didn't they use water on purpose, to keep the loading times to a minimum? That was my understanding, and seeing how this was the first Zelda on a CD median (except for the god awful CD-I games) I think they did a pretty good job.
Um...there is no reason why you can't use both. I do, and I'm very happy with them.
(In fact I just downloaded the newest opera version, and I'm planning to upgrade Phoenix...errr...Firebird sometime today. I used IERadicate to get rid of IE, and my Win98 system has been relatively stable ever since...)
Heck, MTV (when they played music) was the best advertisement ever conceived for record companies.
Still, it was better then now, when they show is watered down 'reality TV' and poorly made videos of some guy sitting in pig feces....I mean...'comedy'
I'll take the music over the tripe they show now any day. (Still, that doesn't mean I DO, MTV has always been garbage)
Its a funny alternate scenerio, and it's somewhat well written, but the whole thing looks kinda jumbled together. Maybe some paragraph seperators...
I'll give this 'future where the corperations win' story a respectable 7 out of 10. Tune in next/. story involving corperations of any sort, when doubtless we'll see another one of these.
That just summed up the entire article. Every time I dont think I can see a bigger pile of BS and stupidity than I already have, it strikes again.
However, look on the bright side. Even the teens who have been brainwashed into thinking that they are stealing when they download MP3's (even though they still do) will probably finally figure out SOMETHING is wrong when they are going after their favorite lyric sites.
Come on, you can't possibly tell me that posting lyrics to songs is unlawful. If it is, when will it stop? Will we get in trouble for singing them out loud in public? This bullshit has GOT TO STOP!
Um....I used XiRCON for the longest time (even after it stopped being supported), until the bugs of it (buggy userlist, inability to handle right click commands on someone that has a 'special' rank other than voiced or ops) finally brought me over to mIRC.
I still prefer it over mIRC, since you can make XiRCON look much prettier in my opinion (text wise).
Perhaps I am mistaken, but didn't IBM try something similar a while back with MCA and their own proprietary hardware and own operating system? I think we all remember what happened to THAT. People wanted stuff that was compatable with what they had already.
But don't we all know that Microsoft isn't exactly compatability friendly. Heck, you can hardly even get two versions of Office to work toghether.
Is that a bad thing? It'll draw less attention to the black market, and in the day and age where anyone can use a computer, we need all the ways to feel superior to the average user as we can get.
Sure, mod me troll, but in my opinion stuff like this is like tourist places. They're awesome until they become 'common tourist placecs' then something happens to it that is horribly degrading and it loses its former charm.
I was going to post this as AC, but what the hell, I have karma to burn, might as well use it up.
Sorry dude, beat you to it. (See topic "Been there, done that" But just incase your post flourishes and not mine, I'll just say again that Rez is truely amazing.
The out of print rumor, however, is false. I would give you the place where it was debunked, but it was in Penny Arcade, and I can't seem to access it from my schools network...stupid 403....
Seriously, Rez (for PS2 or import DC) is a GREAT example of synesthesia, but I'm not going to even try and explain it here, you're going to have to see/play it for yourself...if you can find a copy anywhere.
So yeah - repeatedly tricking the system into giving you free calls can easily be considered criminal behavior. The motivation was to prevent having to pay for the desired service, which many people would consider immoral (like I do)
Not that I'm from this era, but I thought that some of the motivation was just to see if one could get around it, without a criminal mindest. But what the hell do I know, since...once again....I'm not from this era and wouldn't know the feeling personally.
You are sadly misinformed. The 'adware' in Opera doesn't track your viewing habits, and if you try hard enough you can actually disable the banner.
And you pay money because you like the product. Sure there are free alternatives, but they aren't Opera. I personally have both Opera and Phoenix on my computer, but Opera runs faster for me, so I just use Phoenix when a page won't display correctly (pretty rare for me nowadays)
Actually, the only game that truely imitates the feel of a sniper rifle is Silent Scope. Most other sniper rifles that are in games that you control with a regular controler try to simulate the 'shaking' that you do when you 'really' shoot a rifle by randomizing target vectors, but its not very realistic.
Of course, this is all just me speculating, since I've never actually fired a 'sniper rifle' myself. And I'll go ahead and say the article is right becuase I love taking pot shots at Halo whenever I can.

You're black. Get over it.
Love, Kettle
Well...you TOLD someone to...but still, I don't know where you are getting the AOL Time Warner bit from...
(In fact I just downloaded the newest opera version, and I'm planning to upgrade Phoenix...errr...Firebird sometime today. I used IERadicate to get rid of IE, and my Win98 system has been relatively stable ever since...)
But...
Nope. Quake 1 engine.
If you can give me sources, I'll beleive it. I was under the impression (and I think read somewhere) that HL indeeed used the Quake 2 engine...
Still, it was better then now, when they show is watered down 'reality TV' and poorly made videos of some guy sitting in pig feces....I mean...'comedy'

I do see your point though....

Heh...in all seriousness, DDR has slimed down many a geek...including me.
