  1. Re:Retard on Academy Awards Of Halo Videos · · Score: 1
At it's most basic level, it's fun, though sorta easy )Especially compared to JGR). It's got that Tony Hawk "What's the biggest combo I can pull off?" kind of thing, though it's now about mostly grinding instead of doing vert tricks.

However, Smilebit just made this game ooze style, just like the first one (except there is no depth blurring like they did on the Dramcast version) The graphics are above average, but the way they were presented and used is top notch, the music kicks ass (I have MP3s of some of the music), and unlike the first one, this one had multiplayer (Not much of it, but hey, it was an improvement).

However, I am not naieve, and do know that this game is a matter of taste. My friends liked the main game, but hated the music and the fact that the game was cell shaded. And of coures you obviously do not care for it. Also, unlike JGR, there is nothing to do after the main game is completed and after you tag everything. Oh well, I'll just have to wait for JSR3 for that...

So, care to elaborate about how this game was so horrible?

    Dead?

Please explain to me why this console is dead. Please. I would love

That bash may have been seen as valid at launch. Maybe. Considering the other launch or near-launch titles that didn't get nearly as much attention, such as Project Gotham Racing and DOA, anyone who did their homework and actually tried something other than Halo would have been able to tell you different.

But it's too late for that. Now there is Mechassault, Midtown Madness 3, Morrowind (I'm not buying a new laptop to play this game on PC, I'm a poor college student.), RalliSport Challenge, Jet Set Radio Future, Panzer Dragoon Orta, the list just goes on and on.

Right now, it's proving that a Star Wars game does not have to suck these days. And the future is looking mighty bright, as I am looking forward to the Xbox Counter-Strike (Easily usable and accessable voice communication as a standard as opposed to an exception DOES make a difference), the Morrowind expansion port, the next Project Gotham Racing (which will be on Live) and ultimately Halo 2.

And before you get your panties in a wad and start crying FANBOY, I'm a card carrying Gamecube and PS2 owner as well.

I certainly trust them over Gamespot, Gamespy, EB's mag and the official magazines for each respecive consoe. Maybe not as much as smaler review sites, but like the parent of the parent said, they have everything. I dont want to look at 10 different review sites because I want a review of a somewhat obscure game that happened to slip under the radar of most independant review sites.

    In a word. No

    In two, Not yet.

You see, in Halo for the Xbox, you only had to have one instance of the game running for the two screens. However, when you play a game like that over the network, you need two instances doing the EXACT SAME THING in order for the game to not jump out of sync. It's easy with Deathmatch, but Co-Op...especially playing a game with as complex AI as Halo has is a while nother story. You either need to ensure that the EXACT same thing happens in BOTH places, or transmit data about EVERYTHING going on in the world (ALL of the monsters) over the network. A LAN might be able to handle it, Internet I am very doubtful of.

However, Bungiee is workin hard on coming up with a solution, and it MIGHT be an a later patch. Or it might not. All we know right now is that as of release, its highly unlikely.

The one thing that never ceases to amaze me about Halo is its longevity. Sure, the single player was...although pretty nice...rather forgettable, but then again, who played single player goldeneye after they tried multiplayer?

Two years after release, and Halo is still being played by my hall. The addition of the grenade and the melee to the 'normal' FPS mix, as well as the crux of only being able to carry two weapons at a time, just adds so much depth...you can actually hit someone and lob a grenade on the fly, rather than having to switch to some cumbersome underpowered grenade or fist 'weapon'.

Halo PC will most defeniatly be a success. Finally, the thing that people have been having wet dreams about (mods and internet play) will become a reality.

  12. FANBOY DENIED! on Tecmo Talk Dead Or Alive, Ninja Gaiden · · Score: 1
First of all, having played quite a bit of fighters myself (Everything from Virtual Fighter to Capcom vs. SNK 2), I would have to say that Dead or Alive has to be one of my favorites.

It's not the deepest game ever, but damnit, it's easy to pick up and play and do somewhat well at (there is stil room at the top, a good player will still beat out a bad player 9 times out of 10). It's one of the three games we play in our dorm room (the other two being Halo and Midnight Club 2). And my roomates think that the bounciness is actually quite ridicioulous. We play it on its merits as a fighting game alone.

And if you would read reviews (IGN) once in a while, DOA EXB actually had a pretty deep volleyball system and surpassed expectations of just being an oggle-fest.

Mod me down if you must, but consider that I am recovered Gamecube fanboy who now tries to make unbiased decisions about games. Your arguments are classic anti-xbox fanboy rants. Play the games with an open mind before you jump to conclusions. Jeez' fanboys are like maggots crawling out of the woodwork all over the place.

As for this, I am EXTREMELY excited about being able to play DOA2 online, and especially try out the DOA for Saturn I never was able to play. And Ninja Gaiden looks kick ass, and if the gameplay is as good as the previews make it out to be, we could have a real winner on our hands.
