The freq range of the mambrane alone is complete ass, so they would have to sell you subwoofers integrated with computer case to rattle around your HDs harmoniously:)
The problem is that voice chat isn't widespread enough in CS to make it feasable as a means of communication. Which means only a few people got it, and half of them do it to piss you off.
When it's standard, like in SOCOM, guess what, it actually gets used, and used well.
Anyway, I am often surprised when playing SOCOM, the only voice chat game on PS2, that there are relatively few lamers playing. In my months of having the game, I've encountered guy who ticked me off, and that was late at night.
Sure, mod me down for flamebait, but it's something to think about...
Most PS2 games are DVD's. You need a DVD player of some sort to play PS2 games. Sure, some games (Frequency, Tribes AA) use CD's but they don't justify the cost and R&D of making a PSX 3.0 that can play blue PS2 games. Why put all that hardware in that cna play PS2 games when you can't play ALL PS2 games. What I want is a TRUELY portable/handheld Playstation, like the home-made PSp (can't provide URL, stupid high school firewall that I'm too lazy to try and work around...argh...)
And a public service announcement....BUY AMPLITUDE! 3.25.03
Oh, and I'm praying to god that there'll be a webcast of this. I havent had as fun as when I listened to the MS representative debating with the mySQL founder on Stockholm challenge in months. Damn that poor MS rep was funny, thought I'd laugh myself to death when he began talking about how lousy the support is for opensource software and how fast MS fixes bugs.
Will a laugh track be included in this upcoming meeting?
"DRM will not work. One, customers have to buy it, and know they are buying it. "
You seem to forget that the average Joe Consumer does not really know that much about DRM, and will probably buy a DRM enabled piece of hardware/software and either not know the difference, or know the difference but think that there is something he is doing wrong or that there is nothing he can do about it. Or on a very rare occation he could find out from someone who does know about it, but then they are usually too lazy to change what they already have.
At least that's in my (limited) experience with observing people on such topics. Modders be kind plz.
"For Square fanboys fearing that this may ruin their favorite RPG company,"
What about Enix fanboys fearing that this may ruin their favorite RPG company? There is a flip side to this coin, you know. I hope I'm not the only one who enjoyed Illusion of Gaia. (SNES)
"quality lesser than that of a 1990 era NES that sells for $20?"
You are telling me that a game system that is basically a portable SNES (which was a fantastic sytem with an awesome lineup of games) with more powerful graphics is 'lesser quality' than most NES games? *cough*troll*cough*
I was wondering when an engine like this would be added. Mainly because I watch a lot of anime, but I was waiting for something like this to come out ever sicne I saw how 2xsai was implimented in ZSNES.
You seem to forget that if someone finds a security hole in Windows, Microsoft doesn't really lose anything. It's the end users who lose out on the deal. Thusly, Microsoft would not give two squirts of piss about releasing a fix for it, because it's not their assets that is getting screwed over.
However, when you chip and put Linux on an Xbox, you are robbing Microsoft of their revanue by not getting any games (that give them royalties) for it. And if you even take one piece of gold from the figurative Smaug, it will rise up and (attempt to) crush you with it's pinkie finger.
Who needs Rare when you have Retro studios (Metroid Prime)?
And Perfect Dark, one of the best games for N64 ever, has been turned into an anime in the concept shots for the next one. I like anime, but PD was supposed to be a serious game, what happened? Timesplitter 2 is coimg out for GC anyway, so that pretty much covers the bases.
They couldn't find anyone willing to take the job already, someone within the company? Surely anyone would be oh so anxious to take a job like this, fighting for such a noble cause...
"By continuing to foster a rich developer community as we have in the past we can make sure the bulk of the talent is writing code for Windows and not Linux".
Which they are scaring away at the same time. Convenient, eh?
Before you attach a big 'flamebait' to this reply, think about it. What exactly is Microsoft offering to the community recently that would entire developers to stay on the Microsoft bandwagin? The secret API's that only people at Microsoft can access and give their programs unfair advantages over people who don't work there? The compilers like Visual C++ and Visual Basic that cost a nice hunk of change and can't be used in an office environment without a site licence or paying for each and every copy? The fact that their code created with such tools isn't exactly the most portable code on earth?
I understand that these may not be factors. After all, who needs hidden API's for...oh say...specialized database software that is specificly written for a single company. But the compiler costs money, and if the company they are making it for is dedicating their machines to that, plus a few other tasks like email, then they could provide the same solution cheaper with Linux.
Pardon me if I'm missing something painfully obvious, but what is Microsoft doing to these same developers that they rely on to make them stay?
it is the case. RedHat's trying to do something for people who aren't emotionally involved with either KDE or Gnome -- make a consistent, usable desktop.
What befuddles me is why this hadn't occored to somebody sooner.
And of course people trust some computer more than they trust a human being. After all, the computer is going to be smarter, right? Right?
This is very disappoing news. I am hell-bent on getting an Information Technology major when I go off to college, but what use will I be when I am obsolete and no longer needed in the job market?
Like this?

Heh....I think his post speaks for himself though.
After Pokemon - When people knew what anime was and simply thought it was annoying as all get out.
Luckily, I held out my opinion until I saw Tenchi Muyo! and I've been a fan ever since.
Will a laugh track be included in this upcoming meeting?
I can sue /. for bad karma?

'One .NET to rule them all...'
Yeah, I know it's on the Dreamcast, but it's a heck of a lot easier to play burned CD's and software on it than a PS2.

Now all it has to do is pass. I sincerely hope that they don't water it down...
