VPN and PGP encrypt. That's over the internet, but pretty damn secure - I work in the healthcare industry and PGP is pretty standard, usually over a VPN or secure FTP.
I dunno...if some average person conducts their transactions via VPN/PGP almost noone would care. Now if you know that breaking into the encryption could result in embezzlment of BILLIONS of dollars, then perhaps a lot of people might want to cash in...
I once was an Athlon fan. I owned a few. But I had to make the switch. Why? Not because of anything that AMD ever did, but because I got *really* tired of unstable VIA chipsets.
Just for shit and giggles, I highlighted that and used the "search web for" function in Firefox. 839 hits...please don't trash the AMD platform just because of one shoddy chipset manufacturer...
Yeah, I found out that if a site doesn't use CSS, the mozilla plugin won't kick in. I remember Opera being able to force a style even when the website didn't have css...is there something like that out there for firefox?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't there a way to override the colors and styles by using a css and switching to that alternate style on Mozilla Firefox? If so, how do you do it?
Would this technically be the first dual-processor console? or at least the first dual-processor handheld?
Nope. Plenty of 16bit and 32bit machines had additonal processors, albeit more akin to co-processing more than "main" processing (Genesis/MD and Neo Geo,68000 + Z80 for sound, SNES 65816 + SPC7000 for sound, for example)
I have been using a nice IE add-on called Slimbrowser. It has a lot of features and I really come to like it. But I also have been using Firefox and noticed rendering is 2-3 times faster than IE/SB! Would love to move from SB to FF but I noticed I want certain features that SB that I haven't been able to find on Mozilla's website. Can anyone point me to the right direction and tell me where to download the right Windows extensions that can make Firefox have the:
1) Ability of running any Windows shortcut or folder within the browser or explorer. 2) Autologin of websites (form filling-username, pass) 3) Make your own search engines (like if I want to add yahoo maps and all i type is the destination) 4) "Groups" of websites that open in tabs at the same time 5) In-line Flash/Advertsing blocks (I noticed one of Achilles' Heels of FF is that it eats cpu like crazy when flash is used on the page)
I would appreciate any help you can give me!

My link is 512kbps but by the time TCP, PPPoE and ATM all have a go at my packets I'm only getting 52K/sec instead of 64.
Which is why I always do a 1:10 convertion when I think of transmission speed. In other words, I expect a 512kbps line to max out at 51.2KiByte/s. And 99.9% of the time, this approximation works. Even with modems, a 50kbps connection yields 5KiByte/s transfers. Some days however the bytes "fly by" faster. I have seen this in both modems with speeds up to 7KiByte/s sustained on a 50kbps connect and cable modem up to 325KiByte/s on a 3mbps line. Most of the time on Sundays or days where network congestion is down to a minimum. Can someone explain to me why this happens?
um. i suggest you get a ps2->usb adapter and a ps2 controller...most serious gamers have some sort of controller like that. If you loathe sony, you can take any xbox controller and convert it to use it on pc usb.

Back in the day, you didn't have the luxury of a search engine or an online dictionary. At least people had the dignity to admit they might be wrong about something. I know it is a lossless format, so it obviously isn't JPEG.
I don't understand why Jpeg 2000, which has a lossless option (which beats the crap out of TIFF)
is not popular. Can anyone please tell me why? The only widespread app using it is the Yahoo Messenger Webcam (about 1-2 kbyte/s normal mode and 10-15kbyte/s "super" mode)
Why is it so hard that the editors can't use the appropriate icons for them?
Does anyone see the irony of someone complaining about this when the icon is a broken window and the topic is about a list of windows bugs fixed?

I'm surprised (and a bit sad about) the number of students who can't hear the 16khz tone
Is that why mp3 is so popular? Because even though it doesn't keep frequencies > 16khz, people don't miss them anyway?

But Ebay said the transaction was "null and void"..hence neither party has liability...IANAL, but is this correct?

Some things don't change :)
Except spelling and grammar. Remember the time when you politely added (sp) after a word when you were not sure about its spelling?
