These aren't small holes, these are major show stoppers. It's currently possible for anyone using the site to do anything they like to someone else's profile.
If you're designing a portal you need to design it to be secure. Otherwise when you start reworking the code to secure it the code gets messy.
It sounds like they've been designing this thing as they go along, not the best way really.
If someone can do an LCD with high contrast e-paper style screen and normal LCD functionality then they will solve that problem. Perhaps have the LCD flip out of the way to expose the e-paper screen underneath?
As for the Desire HD, 4.3" screen makes the device too big for me, I did some estimates on paper of its size. Any bigger than 4.3" and you'll have a phone approaching the footprint of a 3.5" hard disk.
I'm all for policing the Internet for criminal behaviour. But copyright infringement isn't a criminal act.
They should target the scammers, the hackers, the virus writers, the ID thieves. These are the people causing misery. Copyright loss amounts are just crazy sums, you can come up with any crackpot formula to come up with loss figures.
Once again it's all vaporware from Microsoft and everyone knows that no matter how cool the hardware is, if the software sucks then what use is it? Looking at the surface software list there's nothing available for it that is of use to anyone, unless you want a big photo viewer or map. Where's the web browser, email or office tools?
When will they realise that it's not the hardware that matters but the software.
I've seen a convertible laptop/tablet before at a customer site. He was trying to use it to take notes. But thanks to Windows it required a reboot as it wouldn't come out of sleep properly. It's a bit annoying when you all have to sit there and wait to start a meeting while a laptop boots.
Anything tablet like needs to be instant on/off. No HDDs, no x86 Intel processors and a keyboard should be totally detachable for those who don't want to use it.
I thought everyone was being cruel to the design when I read about it. Having just looked at the design what were they thinking? Did they take some LSD and thought "hey, lets design the Boxee case now".
Even the Nintendo Wii looks sane compared to this and that was a bit odd when standing upright in its base. Even the original PS3 bread bin looks attractive.
Certainly one to pass on I think. My Mac Mini fits on a shelf and at times I forget its there.
I've never gone to a website and cared about how fast it rendered. What I do care about is how secure I am and if the browser is able to deal all the pop ups, pop unders and other junk.
The IE dev team are just lacking any other decent USP to sell the merits of IE over other browsers. Firefox hasn't really made all that many big improvements for some time. So there's not much for IE to copy.
I would say that sim-free handset owners are in the minority, mainly because it is geeks who want the handset totally unlocked and unbranded. Geeks are still a minority or Linux's market share would be much higher.
Regardless of the potential cost savings, people just look at the money they have to pay up front and just go for a contract.
I run Boxee for watching content. It's alright, but the biggest annoyance is a lack of keyboard shortcut for toggling between aspect ratios or a default setting to always override aspect ratio.
Mythtv was better in this sense, just lacked the "slick" interface.
To use nuclear in a vehicle would mean converting its energy into drive. With nuclear this means using the heat generated by the reaction to heat water to produce steam
Nuclear subs have the capability to run for 15-20 years without refuelling. But it is the crew who need refuelling, the food supplies will only really last about 2 months.
If you are giving someone a physical item in exchange for money such that you no longer have access to that item then to me that is a sale. Are they saying you can't even give the software away to someone else now?
Non-transferable licences suck. It's all in the name of maximising profits and not allowing people to recoup their loses if they made a mistake (and bought some software they didn't like or use).
If this was the iPhone people would call this Jailbreaking and be claiming it is just allowing them to choose what software is on the device.
I don't understand why it's fine on the iPhone yet on a games console it is deemed to be a bit more 'dodgy'. Especially when jailbreaking an iPhone also allows pirate software to be installed.
I just wish they would stop wasting money on such gimmicks and actually bother to deliver the mail correctly. I received someone's birthday card a while back, the house number was a match for mine but the rest of the address wasn't close. Was in the same town of course, but rather than ruin someone's birthday I hand delivered the card myself.
So to sum up, the Royal Mail can't even be bothered to deliver until after noon and it seems like they now are employing people who can't even be bothered to deliver to the correct address.
It means that Apple then have more money to devote to R&D, more money to pay for decent staff and bringing me more product that generally does just work than that's good with me.
I'm willing to pay more for an easier life, for hardware that looks nice. A laptop PSU that isn't a cheap nasty black brick on a rope. Decent packaging too! that you can actually get the product back into, not have to spend 5 minutes compacting cables and scratching your head before settling for a bulging box.
If you can show me a laptop that is 50% of the cost of a Macbook Pro that runs Aperture, Logic Studio and Final Cut pro, isn't butt ugly and has an OS that isn't made by Microsoft then I'll take one:)
Induction is less efficient too. It's why the transformer in a power supply is often nowhere near 100% efficient as induction is how they work. So combine a transformer with induction and you're wasting a lot of power.
Why would Apple produce a desktop machine when desktop machine sales are falling? 10% of the computer market is desktops and this is set to fall.
Most people use laptops now, unless you're some gamer type and Macs haven't really ever catered for that sector. The gamers are interested in tweaking everything and a Mac with no BIOS settings and incompatibility with commodity PC hardware just wouldn't appeal.
Indeed, that is exactly the way to do it. If you object to the research, you should not be allowed to have your life saved or illness cured by the technique.
Much of the objection is due to religion, religious types thinking we shouldn't be messing with stem cells and everything to do with life. But these are the same people who probably don't care about genetically modified crops or cloned cattle.

They started using Fructose as it was a little better for diabetics to process over the usual glucose it replaced.
But the problem is that Fructose is only metabolised by the liver and so it can cause liver damage.
Every cell in your body can metabolise glucose.

Won't be long before someone will complain it is causing them headaches or some other medical problem.

I guess if they didn't have a website people would complain about having to phone up and wait.
If it wasn't websites it would be call centres.
Of course, the cost is over the top even for Birmingham (the second city).
Hmm let me see, which company recently withdrew a phone after a few weeks on sale?
Why will Windows Phone 7 succeed when Kin failed?
Windows Mobile sold reasonably well, but all the OEMs who pumped out WM handsets have largely moved on and release Android phones now.
I run Boxee for watching content. It's alright, but the biggest annoyance is a lack of keyboard shortcut for toggling between aspect ratios or a default setting to always override aspect ratio.

If you are going to take hundreds of thousands in payments then surely registering as a card merchant would be a safer bet?
PayPal are ok for a few ebay purchases, but for receiving payments they leave a lot to be desired.
It will contain code from various GPL projects and the holes in these could be exploited to jailbreak the phone.
Of course I could be wrong. there are alternate web browsers on the iPhone now so the "duplication" of built in features isn't a valid argument.
If this was the iPhone people would call this Jailbreaking and be claiming it is just allowing them to choose what software is on the device.

But hey, they have "cool" stamps.
I'm all for cutting waste and luxuries we can do without. But when it comes to safety and personnel this is just going too far.
Now that many nations have nuclear weapons, it's obvious that development of the internet or IT doomsday device will be next.
I think the US military are hinting along these lines.
Cool, I can afford it :)
