I understand a thing or two about the English language. I'm from America, so my English is going to be slightly different from someone speaking it across the pond.

The text of the headline reads, "Toshiba Introduces A 17"-Screen Laptop." In this, "Toshiba" is assumed to be singular thanks to the verb usage of "Introduces."

In the first sentence of the article text, "Toshiba have announced... ," we see that Toshiba is now plural.

I understand that usage may be different from one country to another, but I'd really like to know. If you learned the King's English as opposed to American English, please reply and tell me which one is actually correct for you. I'm dying to know.

  15. Some physics glitches... on Gran Turismo 4 Preview · · Score: 2, Interesting

I'd love to see some of the blatant physics mistakes fixed from GT3. Two examples:

    1) The axis restriction. No car can rotate more than 90 degrees in any direction from normal on any axis. It's to prevent the car from ending up upside down, something that wouldn't fly in GT, as there's no "abort" button a la "RUSH."

    2) The wheelie 700 Mph trick. It's fun, and it's cool to do, but it's probably indicative of a larger shortcut in the physics engine.

Either way, I'm already drooling for GT4. Online play is enough to make me want it, but man, I really wanted hard drive features. Importing my own music is something I've wanted to to with GT4. Oh well, there's always 5...

He started Aimster/Madster/Intranaut/BuddyUSA by exploiting the hopes of college students at Rensselear Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY. He promised big money and didn't deliver, but worst of all, he delivered little by little while tricking you into handing whatever you had over to him.

The man manipulates everyone, including his own daughter, who he whores out to sell his wares. Her name isn't even Aimee. I've met her.

  21. You're wrong, and the USPS says so on TiVo To Sell Customer Data · · Score: 1

    From usps.com

    Q. Why are ZIP+4 Codes used?

    A. In 1983, the Postal Service began using an expanded ZIP Code called "ZIP+4." A ZIP+4 Code consists of the original 5-digit ZIP Code plus a 4-digit add-on code. The 4-digit add-on number identifies a geographic segment within the 5-digit delivery area, such as a city block, office building, individual high-volume receiver of mail, or any other unit that would aid efficient mail sorting and delivery. Use of the 4-digit add-on is not mandatory, but it helps the Postal Service direct mail more efficiently and accurately because it reduces handling and significantly decreases the potential for human error and possibility of misdelivery. It also will lead to better control over USPS costs and, in turn, postage rate stability. ZIP+4 is intended for use primarily by business mailers who prepare their mail with typewritten, machine-printed, or computerized addressing formats that can be read by the Postal Service's automated scanners during processing. Mailers who qualify receive a rate discount on First-Class, non-presorted, ZIP+4 mailings of at least 250 pieces and on presorted ZIP+4 mailings of at least 500 pieces. There are also ZIP+4 discounts for bulk business mail.

Read the privacy policy. It's been around since TiVo was founded, and nothing in that time has changed.

TiVo has been selling your demographic data for years. Superbowl advertisers bought information from TiVo to see which Brittney Spears commercial got the most replay and in which kinds of households.

This has absolutely nothing to do with an infrigement of rights, as it all strictly adheres to an agreement between customer and provider made fully clear at the time of purchase.

To offset the costs of building and maintaining a complicated system that provides an excellent service to consumers they sell information on their demographics. Anyone wanna tell me how that makes them evil all of a sudden?
