    Never allow access to PROD. They will do their testing in PROD, then "promote" those changes to DEV. Seen it a million times. Have a QA/Test instance, script a nightly LUN snapshot from PROD, and let 'em have at it.

    You know what? You're just flat out wrong about Apple's target customer. They target individuals (as opposed to corporations), period.

    Speaking from personal experience with family, friends and co-workers, nearly none of them fit into your market of "yuppies, hipsters and wanabe cool middle-aged moms". You're just scared or jealous of using a platform that works elegantly, which is simply ridiculous. Again, in my experience, there is one type of person that will *never* be an Apple customer: the cheapskate who will sacrifice functionality and usability for a savings of a few percent...

    If you have a set of insulated alligator clips wired together, cut it in half, solder in a 1 or 2 watt 200K resistor and insulate it...heat shrink tubing works great (as long as you remember to slip it on *before* you solder the resistor in place. Then clip across the cap terminals to drain....depending on size & voltage it'll take anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes. When working w/large values/high voltage electrolytics, double-checking with a multimeter is a must....
