Show me entrance exam percentages showing that, as a percentage, homeschooled students do better off than public or private schools and I'll go with you. Til then, I'll just say that if your kids are successful, good for them. Plenty of public schooled kids are successful (and some even moreso than YOUR kids), too!
By "WE" you mean "YOU". I jumped ship about three years ago and transitioned to Apple products. Since then I've been through several OS releases and lived through innovation and an excellent user experiance. How long are you going to keep waiting and watch innovative companies pass you buy?
Be real with yourself. if it weren't for the iPod and ITMS,Apple would hardly be a blip on anything right now.
Can't wait to see someone hack the upcoming MacTel BIOS chips and folks can start making Apple clones with cheaper PC parts and a copy of Mac OSX. Then at least we won't have to buy Apple's overpriced hardware.
Making a mistake is like, forgetting to study for a test. Burning yourself on a hot pot. Killing a plant because you forgot to water it.
Sending out something that self-replicates, just because he wanted to see if he could do it, isn't a "mistake", it's "stupidity". If he were the first one ever to try it, then I could see it possibly being a mistake, but well, it wasn't, it's obvious he KNEW that others did it, so he has no innocence at ALL in this case. He knew what he was trying to do, and he set it out unto the world. He deserves everything he gets. And since he's a minor, his parents should be made to pay any fines he incurs for not paying more attention to what their kid was doing.
Wow - umm...I raw install XP machines all the time. My hardware firewall protects the machines from pretty much all the random crap out on the net. I update to the latest patches, etc, etc, and everything is fine. Go figure.
If you put any machine on the raw net, without a firewall inbetween, you deserve what you get for your idiocy.
Funny - the memory in my PC is in plain sight, not under a HD cage. My case has tool-less HD cages so I just slide in my drive, plug it in, and I'm done.
Oh, and my case also has tool-less case-opening. Imagine that.
As far as the crap you have - you paid what, $1500 for your Cinema Display? Wow - this week, you can buy the new dell 24" flat panel for $899, free shipping. No way Apple can compete. And the monitor looks better on my PC (because I replaced a Cinema display) - imagine that!
Hey Tom - tell me exactly, in detail, how the F-117 fighter jet works - every last detail. Oh, wait...you can't....darn. Imagine that.
No, this piece of shit getting off because he wasn't provided detailed information about the machine is stupid. Hope next time he drinks and drives, he drives off a cliff or something.
'The open source community today [is a] subcontractor of American multinationals.
And France is a pimple on the EUs that is just a pain....their point?
Look - it's awful funny when the EU whines about things American. They don't like it, don't do business or use it. Personally I hope MS just gives the EU the bird and pulls all Windows licensing and sues the bejeesus out of the whole European continent who continues to use their software illegally.
Yeah - except the bitch who spilled the coffee on herself in the first place didn't have to pay McDonalds....So his argument has just as much merit as yours.
Dude, this is Slashdot. Where if Microsoft is associated with your product in any way, everyone hates you, thinks you're taking over the world, and pirates your software.
And your parents should be charged with a crime - having a stupid kid and releasing him upon society!

...of the EU trying to become "big" like the US.
Unfortunately, for the world, all the EU is is a huge, steaming, pile of shit that not even the French flies will land upon.
Funny how they will still have to defer to ICANN for IP block assignments and stuff.
And unless we have unescapable proof of what Gates said (hearsay doesn't count) - got signed letter? tape recording?, none of it will matter.
Why not just have your netadmins drop torrent traffic into the bitbucket if they are so worried about it? It's not that difficult to do.

I don't give a rat's ass about the "hacker mentality" - why? Because they don't care about the rest of us.
This guy should get the max and should be made to pay restitution for all the trouble he caused.
Selling software is predatory and monopolistic? Where's all the OpenOffice fanatics pushing for companies and individuals to stop buying?
Oh, wait. Another example of alternatives that are out there, that people aren't adopting, thus, it's MS' fault.
I'm a "software engineer" too....er, I mean, I help people with software problems at the help desk :P
...more idiots not taking personal responsibility for their own actions....such bullshit...

Slashdot sure is slow at reporting/copying other news. I read about this yesterday morning. Way to go Taco!

We all know that hackers hack into *nix servers to steal information too...Oh, wait, I forgot this is SlashWEHATEANYTHINGMSdot.

Yeah - like I'm sure your geek body is the epitome of general human beauty. Riiiiiight....
I don't see where an anti-MS reaction is warranted or even to be expected.
You forget where you're posting....It's the official Anti-MS, or MS Haters League, or as we all know it, Slashdot.
Typical around here at Slashdot.
Since this is Slashdot, I'll go ahead and do the following for all your MS haters:
1) It's somehow MS' fault that Nutscrape sucks badly and screws up.
2) "This is good - it means people will blame MS and IE for Nutscrape not working"
3) And from us sensible people - Nutscrape has sucked for a long time - why are they bothering to try and make a comeback?

FriedTurkey proves that OSS fanbois are everywhere....News at 11.
I'd tell all the EU that they are having their Windows and other MS licenses pulled and to comply immediately. Those that do not will then be sued.
:)
Imagine the fun mayhem as governments find themselves having to remove their software and have to deal with an immediate change.
Imagine the home users now all being pirates
Ahhhh...what fun it would be. Personally, the EU should be told to fuck off.
