The element, tentatively called Caltransium, has no protons or electrons, and thus has an atomic weight of zero (0). However, it does have 1 neutron [...] This gives it an atomic mass of 212.
Umm... shouldn't it have an atomic number of zero? Atomic weight is the same as atomic mass.
That's just what they want you to think. When Windows 95 shipped, the thinking at the time (and still is today) was that consumers would perceive software to be easy to use if it had no "need" of a manual.
Dude, there is a monstrous difference between Windows 95 and iPhoto. Or even between an operating system and a consumer application.
iPhoto is a very simple, mostly intuitive program whose features can be described / summarized in only a few pages of paper.
All you need to become a power user for an iApp is a bit of spare time, experimentation, and perhaps the help of Mac OS X Hints. You really shouldn't need a book, especially for a program as simple as iPhoto.
I did in fact RTFA. But I did not make my point clear. My point was that the RIAA should admit openly that downloaders aren't a problem and that these "counterfeiters" are. They need to stop using Kazaa-users as scapegoats for their drop in sales (which, of course, is not entirely due to piracy).
It is very obvious that the main source of piracy are these people overseas who even sell the music for money. Why doesn't the RIAA take some kind of action against them instead of suing random people in the US who only share (for free) a few songs!?! Also, they should admit that people downloading are not the main source of piracy.
From the yahoo article: their research paper that anomalies in the IEEE 802.1x standard -- including 802.11a, 802.11g, and the most widely-used Wi-Fi protocol, 802.11b
I was under the impression that the IEEE 802.1x standard is solely a security standard and that it is not to be used as a generic term for the 802.11* wireless protocols. Anyone care to clear this up?
802.11b takes up a lot of power (for a small device, anyway). The camera would either have to have some monster batteries or not be able to take very many pictures at all. Also, are CompactFlash cards able to read/write to different files at once? It seems like writing pictures would be hard if someone was trying to read one at the same time.
...mod me overrated. Because really, that comment is not funny at all. The only reason it's funny is because it's blatantly obvious that I'm trying to be modded +1, Funny.
And don't even think of modding this one funny, either. Or off-topic. Or troll. Or flamebait. How about "Insightful" or "Informative"? Or even better, "Underrated!"
Bwa-ha-ha! I'm (literally) crazy about the system!
They surely included fans. If I remember correctly, the original cube had 0 fans (a pretty cool thing, IMHO) but it only had a 400 MHz or so G4. I'm sure they must have added at least a few to make the cube this powerful.
It probably means "two million accident-free man-hours," or (people) times (amount worked). This would make considerably more sense: 22 people for 10 years would be about two million man-hours (people-hours for the PC:) ).
I can't believe that no one has yet mentioned Marvin, the terminally depressed robot from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. He was the prototype for all of the doors, vending machines, etc. that were all super-friendly because of their ethics chips. Marvin was terminally depressed.
"The kinder, gentler vending machine" is certainly going to be preceded by a bunch of suicidal/gullible machines:
Person: Brother, can you spare a dime?
Vending Machine: Aw, sure! I have lots of spare change in here, and you are in need. It is only ethical to give you money.
Person: Thanks! (heh heh heh)
This would completely not work. For one, it would be a costly extension. Can you imagine the work it would take to get that to interface properly? Also, it would be bulky. It would be pretty darn hard to get that to fit into a cartridge slot without wasting a lot of space. This would also make it ugly.
Basically, it would be a better solution to have one slot for a cartridge and one for a mini-cd. And even this would be pretty stupid.

Let's map them potholes. 'nuff said.
Heh. I thought you said, "Let's map them open ports" with Linux! Silly me staying up late at night.

Sorry, I forgot that <a href=""> business. So sue me.
Here is an article where this is all more clearly explained (and no Shift-JIS encoding, either):

will you people calm down...
On the contrary, he has just joined THE FORCES OF EVIL!!!!
Even worse, he's the new head-elect of it!
Former Chief of Staff? Why did Bainwol get fired from / leave his previous position?

If that's not a conservative estimate, call me a liberal.
...you own the music!
(sorry, mods; it's my first "Soviet" post. I'm sure you can understand)
...takes on a whole new meaning.
Whoa!
Imagine the crazy dreams that might make your wheelchair go...well...crazy. Imagine the safety implications if there were a cliff or something nearby.
Except this time, you don't wake up before you hit the ground. Or at least you hit the ground when you wake up. Hrm. I'm confused.
The average size of the words in quotes is like 7. Which is crazy.
Acually, it's 5.1882353, but that's including every single word (articles, etc.)
These scientists and their big words. They think they know so much.
Pancake sales in Kansas increase by 20% because the Citizens of Kansas now feel in some way superior to the pancakes!

A Russion software developer...
Dang, those Russ charged particles. They'll get you every time. Or did you mean Russian? I suggest a slight change of vowels.
;-)

As an alternative, you can just force-quit Software Update after it presents the sheet confirming whether you want to restart or shut down.
