Yes. We all know how deadlines contribute to make games so, so much better than they would ever have been had the developers just been given as much time as they wanted. Get 'em off their lazy bums.
Whew. I played that game on an emulator (not quite my generation, you oldbie), and fortunately it had a turbo feature that would help me zip through those annoying moments. So, like, eh... Too bad the GBA has less buttons than the SNES. Makes it hard to add features like that.
Identifying as IE in Opera does not work. Please check things like this first. Opera wouldn't be able to display the game advisor anyway, 'cause it uses ActiveX.
I don't know about the US, but in Norway these rules also apply for cigarettes. You can not show someone smoking in a commercial, but of course you can in a movie or TV show. The reason for this is pretty obvious; everything we see makes impressions even though it's often subconscious, so tobacco/alcohol companies would be very happy to put some users of their products in a positive situation for all to see; trendy people in an ad for khakis smoking cigs has an effect. This unconscious effect is explored by modernist authors such as Kurt Vonnegut.
What were we talking about, again? Oh yeah, ads are stupid, anyway. I make a conscious effort to try to compensate for the advertising that I see by avoiding products that are advertised. Oh wait, that was off-topic too, wasn't it?
MPEG7 at over 100 mbps? Considering an assumed 4x higher encoding ratio than MPEG4, that's, er... Unlikely. Considering 640x480 at 2 mbps with MPEG4, at 100 mbps with an encoding ratio 4x as efficient as MPEG4, we could have 10240x7680. But what monitor is going to be able to display at that resolution? I doubt this will be a problem.
"Voting with ones pocketbooks", comparable to "voting egotistically" is a very right-wing viewpoint in itself, as I see it. Not like anyone is going to get rich by voting Democrat.
I agree. I can't even get Pong to run well on my Casio CFX-80GB+.:-( It's got frickin' 32 kB of RAM! I bought it two months ago for 850 NOK, about $120, and that was on-sale price. And it's sloooooooow to graph. Takes 3 seconds to draw a straight line.
Hm. I'm still using the IBM keyboard that came with an Aptiva 450 we bought in September '99. It's got an American layout, set to Norwegian in Windows. I have to switch to English to get my <> characters, which is annoying for html, but I'm so used to it. The apostrophe is the dash key; the key over Return, which, er, doesn't exist on a Norwegian keyboard (it's next to a slightly thinner but taller Return key). Having the apostrophe in this location makes it sooo much easier to hit than on a regular keyboard. And, yeah, it's an OEM component. Cheapass, probably. I've cleaned it a few times, but not out of necessity. All the parts come off nicely. And two of the buttons on the play/stop/ff/rw/volume thingie in the top right can be configured to indidivudual keys, so I've got working play/pause and next song keys for foobar2k.... Yay.
I've got an old 13 GB Maxtor, a 120 GB IBM (120GXP), and an 80 GB WD. Never had any problems. Should perhaps consider backing up my 40 GB MP3 collection but, nah.
From reading this interview, it seems that he uses "like" in every other sentence! "Pretty" and "really" also appear very often. I would have thought that a translator would be educated enough in the English language not to be limited to such simple forms of expression.
In China, nearly everyone speaks Mandarin. Except people in the far west and people in Hong Kong. They've got their local dialects, but very few don't speak Mandarin.
I know this shit, I've got a ladyfriend from Shanghai.
English is not the standard language in America, IIRC. Some laws call for the state not to have preference for any language, and publishing stuff in multiple languages if a large enough minority speaks it. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
America used to have many mainly German-speaking parts, with German newspapers and stuff, but after WW2, many schools stopped teaching it.

This is an incorrent claim. The sticks are only used in R&D and lunch, and are not employed in the final product. Stop spreading FUD.

One example: When I want to install a plugin for some program and find out that I have to install it first, it's a useful feature.
The save dialog can't open anything? In Windows it can, by right-clicking. I find this a useful feature. Honestly.
Quick source.
IBM is an Opera partner, actually...
Thanks. ^_^
Keep in mind that it takes a HELLUVA long time to get a Jedi character.
Of course, that's a biased opinion, so YMMV.
A 60 GB iPod would be handier... (Hurry ip Jobs, 40 isn't enough!)
Ooh yeah. My thumbs would get extremely sore after an evening of Gauntlet II... Gamecube controller certainly is improved.
Wait a second, that's the same as Windows, isn't it?
Damn, now that's rude: using Slashdot to earn referrer revenue. Shouldn't the editors have spotted this? Oh well. Nice offer, anyway.

I've only tested it with files ripped with Nero, but it works.
Irony = self-contradictory or unexpected. Thus a "Netscape" service running Internet Explorer would be ironic.

I want his job, though.

English is boring. I'm quentilingual. Whee.
