You'll probably mod me off-topic, but I walked into Target a few days ago, and I was walking by their electronics section and noticed that they are selling *Napster-branded* CD-Rs, CD boxes, media cases and such. The little cat logo and everything. I couldn't believe the irony.
Guitar tuning has a lot to do with the nut (save the jokes...). This is the piece of plastic, bone or graphite on the end of the fretboard that holds the strings in place before they hit the tuning machines. Most guitars that won't tune aren't so bad because of the tuning keys, it's that the nut is not cut properly for the size strings you're using. If they don't sit right, they won't stay in tune, simple as that. Oh, and STRETCH those strings when they're new! Search google, its very simple and your new strings will behave very nicely after a stretch, because you get the kinks out.
Also, there's a handheld tuner that you can buy that physically turns the peg for you, all you do is pluck the string. I'm surprised no one's mentioned it yet, it's been around for over 10 years. The difference is that it only does one string at a time, and you hve to physically hold it in place while you tune.
In the long run, tuning a guitar is not rocket science and keeping your nut in good shape and having a decent set of tuners (even ones on a cheap Fender Squire are pretty good nowadays) will keep you playing alright. This invention is pretty cool for a wow value, but it's like using an Abrahms tank to kill a mosquito. I play several guitars with old-school Bigsby tremolos and I don't have any tuning problems.

if only I could get debt free. Apple has me hooked, I can't believe how much cash I spend on their products. Well worth it though.
As an owner of a Linux box with wireless ethernet and a TV Tuner, I suggest something less painless and more fun than your project: hang yourself by the testicles on a merry-go-round.
"GarageBand has a very short list (20) [apple.com] of compatible MIDI interfaces, all high-end numbers from the likes of MOTU and DigiDesign."
Actually it supports the cheapest (but still great) usb midi interface around, the midiman (m-audio) Midisport Uno. Its $39 with no haggling at Guitar Center.
I'd get this one instead. It's basically the same keyboard, but m-audio dumbed it down, called it the Keystation and is selling it for $99. Guitar Center had it last night for $140, I think. More features, including the pitch wheel and slider functionality. Give it a look, you might like it better.
You're right about the built-in keyboard being pretty useless, but I found another use for it - tuning my guitar. I just play the E key with the mouse and continue on.
As I write this I have 2 tabs in my browser and Firefox is taking 21 mb. It's not 86 mb, but before I even saw your post I was wondering why it needed over 20 mb. Seems pretty resource hungry to me, considering Eclipse is using 56 mb and Websphere(!) is using 76 mb.
The 15 inch TiBook has poor wireless reception because the antenna is next to the airport card and not upright as you would expect an antenna positioned. The iBooks and newer aluminum powerbooks didn't have this problem.
Also, I'm no su sure there's a whole lot of titanium on the case - it's probably just a color layer, and that will scratch very easily. Still, it's the greatest laptop ever made.
Laserdisc might be the best way to get the original flicks on DVD. They have 5.1 surround and widescreen formats. I still have a laserdisc player, but I think the Star Wars Laserdiscs are very pricey.
If they only made a device that was displayed current information of my choosing, supported multiple colors, was able to display text, could be viewed from a distance, was low cost and could be seen at eye level when I was in front of the computer...That would be a winner.
Do you want to live in a world where everything is dirt cheap but you're chronically unemployed, or a world where you are well paid and the cost of living is expensive? Unfortunately, the world's corporations have made the choices for us already, but we're not completely there yet.
Does anyone remember Magnavox's Odyssey 2? It had cool games, very atari 2600-like, with a one button joystick. But, it had a full keyboard, and some games used it. Heck it even had a crude speech adapter. Makes you wonder why they don't build a keyboard right into the current consoles. Might make playing first person games more PC-like. And yes, I know you can play most games on the PC too, but still...new uses such as displaying jpg cd's, etc.

Unfortunately, you don't understand the differences between Linux and Windows. Nothing more, no arguments accepted. How about the online banking sites that only support Internet Explorer, banking applications that only run on Windows and are so archaic they will never be supported by Wine, I could go on and on. You demonstrate why Linux fails in some areas: The geeks just don't understand what businesses need, and whining about how they're not as cool as you will never change that.
Apple offers $800 laptops and $600 desktops with an included monitor (at the Apple Store special deals section - thats an everyday price not an educational deal). That is not expensive as hell, its actually quite cheap comparing the hardware / software package included. Troll Apple all you want, but their prices are quite reasonable. Have you spec'd out a top of the line G5 against a top of the line Dell? Do your homework, kid.
I hate to give this one away, but you're all my friends so what they hell. Search using an asterisk. Example - If you're looking for sony headphones, type in "sony head*" and it finds anything with the word head and sony in it. I get stuff cheap all the time, because this trick can get the spelling mistake listings.

Now I know what Lucas was drinking when he created Jar-Jar.
You get no lunch breaks but you get spend your work day posting on Slashdot? This does not compute.

Anyone know when WINE is getting ported to Windows?

In other news, today Microsoft patented paying people with Xboxes and MCSE courses.
