  1. uname -a vs cat /proc/version on Watch Out Linux, GNU Hurd Coming · · Score: 2

Followed the link until I here:
    http://www.gnu.org/software/hurd/hurd/running/debian.html

So to try it I downloaded and ran in in qemu as per the instructions.

Playing around a bit I noticed this:

    root@debian:~# uname -a
    GNU debian 0.3 GNU-Mach 1.3.99/Hurd-0.3 i686-AT386 GNU
    root@debian:~# cat /proc/version
    Linux version 2.6.1 (GNU 0.3 GNU-Mach 1.3.99/Hurd-0.3 i686-AT386)

So maybe you're right in calling it Linux ;)

    Just a small note.
When I started iTunes 7 for the first time it just wouldn't play any music. The problem was the sound plugin OSS 3D which I had to remove for everything to work again :)

Just have to wait for the OSS 3D developers to adapt their plugin for iTunes 7 now....

Don't worry, in vista they have managed to get the latest bsd networking code including the wifi stuff :)

You might not have exaggerated as much as you might think, the different windows versions are intentionally not compatible with different kinds of software, thus causing fragmentation.

Take ISS and MS SQL server for example, you can forget about running them on anything other then at least the professional version.

This is like saying that you can not run apache and MySQL/postgreSQL on your ubuntu desktop distribution.

Nintendo is spending a lot of money on its next generation console and they are still making a profit!
