  4. Who needs a TIVO anyway? on TiVo Plans More Functionality Reductions · · Score: 3, Funny

I have a way around all of this. Here's what I do.

Get about 10 VHS tapes and 2 VCRs. Set the VCRs to record all of your shows. Then, when your VCRs are done recording, take the tapes out and put sticky tabs on them noting what shows are recorded on each tape. Then put the tapes in a big stack and put two new tapes in the VCRs.

Using this method I've only lost about a dozen shows due to lazyness in sticky tab notation and misplacement of tapes (and occasionally the baby will rearrange them for me).

Anyway, who needs a TIVO when you can follow these simple steps and keep your shows until the sticky tab falls off.

I can't help but think this is dumb. What's the point of being able to display photos on an iPod? I assume it has something to do with digital integration of everything in your house, using the iPid as a portable storage medium, and if that's the ultimate goal, I support this addition. Otherwise, what's the point?

From that, blindfolded, he typed it into an email using only his toes and sent it in.

Wow, new job on Monday, and posting small novels on Friday! Not too bad!

Seriously though, I was laid off twice, 3 months the first time. That really put a dent in the old Visa. Looking back, I should have sold the house and moved to a small apartment so that I wouldn't go into debt so fast. The second time I was off for 1 month, and came out ahead on that one because of the severance pay.

Bush says this is what community colleges are for, but damned if a lot of us can afford to not get paid for 2 years while retooling for another job. That only makes sense if you can afford a 2 year vacation without pay. Unless you want to go way into debt while retooling, and that's not something the average family can afford to do.

    Congrats on the new job!

While we have yet to interact with the internet through some sort of virtual reality interface, community sites (moveon, slashdot, etc) and online gaming (among other things) are currently pushing that boundry now. Is it growing like you expected it? What future internet related developments are you excited about?

I use Perl when I have a task suited for Perl, Java when it better suits a task.

I do agree that it's difficult to do some simple things in Java... I personally feel that it's benifits outweigh it's detractions in most cases though.
