I recently picked up a Philips DVP642 DVD player. It can play xvid & divx but can't play OGG. A few of the movies I download use OGG for audio and I have to resort to running the movie off my computer to the AV center.
I have a question about OGG ever being supported in a player. OGG is under continuous development to make the compression better which is why they have the rating system of 1 through 5. This would mean that a 2 today would probably not be the same size as a 2 a year from now.
My question is would a Digital player be able to play all variations of the OGG even while it is upgrading? If not then without firmware upgrades through the life of the model it wouldn't work. Otherwise if you wanted to make OGG files a year from now they wouldn't work on your player.
Because the US government refuses to invest in infrastructure. Congress believes the road to Internet growth is best left up to private companies.
I'm definately not for big government, but there are some things only goverment can do. The Internet is a bit like the federal highway system and entrusting its growth to the likes of Comcast and Verizon is a bad idea.
Here is the thing the Government won't put in the infastructure themselves. But the Government won't let a company have a monopoly on the infastructure they put in so in other words what happens is they invest in something that they must let competators use.
People complain about monopolies but I don't know of a single person who would invest millions of dollars on something and let other people reap all the profits. Until a company can have a monopoly (maybe for a limited time) it will never get done here.
I just hope the movie lives up to the original. I always felt the point of the original was that honesty was something that is rewarded. I hope the message isn't lost.
I don't think 2 minor news sites can say that this is the best photo sharing site. I'm not saying that I won't check it out and see if it is worth it to me but unless something a little more well known talks about it I really do not think it is slashdot worthy.
I happen to use ofoto which has worked very well for me although now I'm looking for a more advanced site. One that will allow me to sell my photos to make a profit for me and not just the website.
Not only is this true but you also have to remember that when you upgrade you are only upgrading the computer the projection doesn't need to be upgraded meaning that the $5,000 for the projector is a 1 time cost.
I can see this working especially in Baltimore where most of the arcades I have seen suck and some can't afford the top computer to play games on.
I will probably try it out with some friends sicne I live in Baltimore!
"High-energy particles can interact with surrounding materials, breaking them down or causing them to give off hydrogen, a gas that can explode or burn."
so this might solve the hydrogen economy. Quick we need to use more fuel to help the economy.
by the way, has anyone seen the video where US soldiers get into a flat and begin to shoot almost dead iraquians? some of them, heavily injuried claimed for their live, but had no luck.
I have heard many things about this and part of the problem is that some of those same people hide guns and then when the troops go to get them they then open fire. I've also heard some pretending they are dead so when the troops get closer they can also shoot them.
I'm not saying what they did is right. I'm just saying that it is a bad situation. I'm also someone who believes that no matter what we do Iraq will go into a civil war since they have to religions that do not trust each other at all.
As far as the fusion reactor in france. Wasn't that where it was built in Railroad Tycoon 3 and then explodes and you have to try to save as much stuff as possible as the world floods?
Hmm i hope that game wasn't predicting the future!
I looked at Opera and it had a free version with ads when I tried it (don't know if it still does) and was just not impressed. It took longer to load then IE and didn't really load pages any faster. Althought I will admit I had a blazing fast connection at that time. The Mozilla suit didn't even do that good compared to FF.
The big thing about ff is that it loads faster the IE even though IE is part of the OS. I mean how can MS let another program load faster then something that should already be loaded. Opera and Mozilla both can't claim that.
I happen to love FF and have been using it for a while and hope that I can get my family to start using it over IE.
I never really used the P2P clients but I like bittorrent but I have noticed that some bittorrent places are now pay sites to get the torrents. Makes you wonder if these will also become legit because they make money.
First off I'm not sure if it is true or not that you can cause a fire at a gas station by getting in and out of your car and then touching the gas pump first.
If that is true I have to ask would having hydrogen pumped into a car instead of gas stop this or would it make it worse? Would it explode but then blow itself out?
I think these are some questions that need to be answered if the first asumption is true.
Are you kidding do you know how much trash the US alone would consume with those things. We would then have to make more disposable products just to keep up.
I think the main problem with Crossfire is the fact that they really don't debate. A debate is something where sides talk about an issue with facts to back up what they say. Crossfire is show with people trying to yell as much stuff as possible whether it is correct or not.
What really needs to happen is they need a debate with historical facts to back up what they say.
Example:
Take the issue of tax cuts for the wealthy vs tax increases.
One might say that tax cuts for the wealthy encourage people to start businesses. This would be because they will get more money back then if they didn't.
The other side might say the money should go to the middle class because the money is worth more to them and they also buy the products that drive the economy.
Now the key would be to find which really happens.
I think that would be a great debate show that would educate people rather then let people learn the slogans of each party.
The one thing about debate is it is not opinion based it is factual information that is presented to back one side of an arguement.
Well we all know microsoft is just going to release a notebook computer and say that it is a gaming system. I mean the Xbox was pretty much just a computer that had a controller interface right.
Althought I am for more competition to bring down prices. The customer will be the winner if that happens.
Which will it be? A plug-in or a regular part of Firefox? I'd be okay with a plug-in, but Firefox doesn't need extra bloat, and I don't need another way to search for things on my own computer.
I agree with the statement completely. I'm tired of a good product adding on a bunch of stuff the user does not need to make it do everything. What really is dumb about this is that then you have a bloated product that does one thing good and a bunch of other stuff sub par. Just spend the time refining what product you have and making sure it is secure.
I don't need one program that does everything I will get the programs I want that are excellent at the tasks they are designed for.
I thought Best Buy had a policy that it is advertised price at a store. Meaning you can not bring in online ads to compare because you could make your own website advertising something for sale at a huge discount to really rip Best Buy off.
Of course this price match is a way to hide the fact that Best Buy and Circuit City hold up prices and this is a way to say if they lower there price we lower ours. In other words they are keeping inflated prices to make more profits.
On the other hand I have had Best Buy call up Costco the warehouse place and match a price they had on a few things which means I know Best Buy is selling at a loss since they can't compete with a warehouse that gets items at discounted prices. Of course then I found out Costco has a guarantee on everything they sell no matter what reason you bring it back. Where Best Buy bitched when I brought my Linksys router back when it broke 45 days after I got it saying you have to take it up with the manufacturer. I bought one and returned the other one in its place and said it was broken. I wanted the item but I don't feel I should have to take days of time to get a product fixed that broke without abuse.
For everyone who is into Ogg and wants it to be included in a MP3 player I just want to ask a few questions.
Ogg is under continuous development where they go on a quality system and as they compress better and better the files of the same quality get smaller.
If this is true then if a player supported Ogg format would it need an upgrade to play an Ogg file created 2 years from now?
I'm just curious if this is true since I'm looking to rip my CDs but I'm not sure what to rip them to.
I remember (haven't been there in a long time) Lancaster, PA having a Sony outlet store. When I went I was to young to buy anything but I remember it having more older equipment and not the newer stuff. This sounds like they are going at it like Apple does.
Of course if they have the sales people that think you don't know anything it will piss me off like the Apple store does. I don't need people saying stuff like "You can view your digital pictures on these Macs" as if I have no idea.
I hope one of these come toward MD so I can check it out and see!

B. the flies at my picnic.
Why would you swat at it when it is catching flies. I would see this as a great invention to rid a house of the inescts that infest a house.

I wonder if Vegas is taking bets on if it will work or not?
I don't think it will. I just doubt the plane will hold together with that much pressure on it.

For those that can't tell I am joking
"Wine is good for you"
The report I read said alcohol is good for you not just wine and also stated that you should have 2 servings of alcohol a day!

And there is nothing I want more than to wait 3.6 days for a disk to finish writing..
Well then we would have to hope that windows can stay on that long without crashing or needing a reboot!
Well we all know microsoft is just going to release a notebook computer and say that it is a gaming system. I mean the Xbox was pretty much just a computer that had a controller interface right.

Click on the one you vote for since that is your vote.
