  1. Siebel Patch has been available for years on UK Benefits Claimants Must Use Windows XP, IE6 · · Score: 1

This is because they are on Siebel 7.8.2.3. If they just installed the patch for 7.8.2.16, which includes support for all of this, then there would be no issue. The patch would only take a few hours of downtime so there's no excuse for this. These patches have been available for many years.

That's not true. You can try sending messages to yourself and checking your message count online, even if you don't read them. Besides, I can see most of a txt message in the preview popup on my Treo before I even open it. I can also mark them as read/unread, just like email messages.

It may not be obvious, but you can actually take money out on a credit card at the casino cashier window. You don't have to go to the machine first; it just helps speed along the process and keeps the line moving. Most of the casinos in vegas process their transactions through Global Cash which also runs the ATM machines at the casinos. When you do take money out on a credit card at these windows they also take your thumb print, check your ID, and have you on video as evidence of the transaction, so they are much less at risk for chargebacks.

Well, power companies use really high voltage on long runs to reduce loss due to the inherent resistance in the lines. But if you are running these through all of the layers of the atmosphere, I would think that there would be some issues with electrical storms and such. Also there would be the maintenece costs of the cables themselves. I think the whole point for microwave power is that it would be the most effiecent means. Also, we have the technology now instead of waiting for them to figure out how to make a cable for the space elevator out of this miracle nano tube stuff.

  14. Ads or No Ads? on Appropriate Music for Callers 'On Hold'? · · Score: 1

I think some companies like to use the hold time for ads. However, this can backfire if you leave people on hold too long, because they will get more upset and start making up their own "versions" of your ads. I think what works best is some easy listening or classical music from a local radio station. This way you get the variety that you would not have to keep up with yourself.
