I have an IBM thinkpad a22m sure it came it with windows but it runs linux great. Linux supports all the hardware except for my 56k modem. I don't use it so I didn't bother to configure it. And out of the big pc makers they are the most linux friendly.
AS someone who switched to linux, I found it easy and pain free. I've tried two different disto's suse and mandrake. Each one has positives and negatives. Overall with programs like kde3 and programs like openoffice and gimp, I find myself using windows less and less.
I live in NYC also, (Bronx to be exact)and I was able to get dsl (earthlink) without a problem. I have other friends who have speakeasy without a problem.
I installed 1.2 on my XP machine and it just kept freezing up. The Beta worked properly. Once I saw that I didn't even try and install it my linux laptop.
Sega has announced they will charge for PSO on Live
Thats only for the Japanese version of PSO. No price details have been set on the American version.

But I have a couple of reasons why I still use windows. 1. My school in school we program in MS visual studio., sure we have linux clubs and everything but the I.T guys won't even look at your machine if there is a problem and you're running linux.(I guess it's a cluase for buying the thinkpads via the school at a discounted price.) 2. My family. My laptop is dual booted. Mandrake 9.0 and wink2 sp3. I've tried to get my sister to try and do her work on my linux machine but she just won't. She says in school the machines all use Win/word and that is what she is going to use.Ssame thing with the parents all they know is Windows and thats all they feel comfartable with. I've been threatened if I dual the boot the family comp. lol 3.Games while I may not play as much pc games as I do console. I still play some pc games. and lets face it Tux racer just can't compete with Unreal counter strike or Everquest.
Just my 2 cents. Like I said it's prob been said before. and I'll prob get just a score +1.

I wonder how Sony's Movie and music branch feel about this. On one side you have Sony telling people to burn DVD's cd-rw's and other stuff. While the other side says don't do that.

I use chase online banking and have had no problems with mozilla or opera. Both on Win2k/xp and Suse linux. I guess chase bank is 1337
