The first thing that came to my mind is a comic store window display of "Genuine Gandalf Testicles - $89.99" and a nerd outside the store counting his money.
Alright, I forgot about the other properties of diamonds other than just looking shiny.
But my original point still stands that the mac is a much better investment than the rock.
"...if one of them dies, you've lost that one DVD, if your HD dies, you've lost everything."
Yeah, but if you used CD's instead of DVD's, that would be better. I mean, I've a DVD dies, you've lost 4.7 gigs. If a CD dies, you've only lost 700 megs.
Which really is what makes zip disks a better alternative. If a zip disk dies, you've only lost 100 megs, not 700.
The obvious solution? Backup using floppies. It's the only way.
"How many of the ones that weren't prevented included those parents that understood the ratings? Letting a teenager have an M-rated game can be as much a sign of understanding the rating and knowing the game is ok as not understanding/caring."
I would ask for this to be modded up but it's already at +5.
My mother doesn't actually care about the ratings. She instead looks at the content of the game and judges from there. For example, I bought Metal Gear Solid 2, but was not allowed to buy Tekken 3. This was because I explained to her (along with some investigating of her own) what each game was. Metal Gear Solid 2 is a game about combating a terrorist force, using as little force as possible. It's also possible to go through the entire gaming without killing anyone. Tekken 3 is (mostly) pointless violence. Blood/realism be damned, she's more concerned with the philosophy of things.

"trackers keep going down"
For people who don't understand the severity of this, what ends up happening when a tracker goes down is you have 30 or so people connected who all have 99.1% of the download, and no one has the remaining.9%. It stays that way until they get another tracker up.
A bit offtopic, but I have to ask. If you cough up said memo, then could the 5th amendment protect you from being charged with the crime it proves? What if the memo in question didn't really give any evidence in the first trial?
iDunno, but iAgree. iThink it's iStupid.
Did you catch the 2 seconds of him running in a suit and then ripping the shirt open to reveal the spiderman suit?
DAMN. Talk about ripping off superman!
*writes note saying "ping" and ties to to a pigeon*
This is going to take awhile...
Shiney hat you've got there. Aluminum or Tin?

and how do you expect to "use" that rock?
Oh please. If I had a genuine computer that was 180,000,000 years old, it would be worth a HELL of a lot more than that stupid rock.
"can run a hellofalot more software"
In theory. When the emachines crashes and refuses to start up again, that's where you have your problem.
"I can sell you a mac, or I can sell you this rock kinda in the shape of a pentium II"
"Can the mac run windows?"
"Um..."
"I'll take the rock"
"This movie will suck ass" +3, Insightful
Can I mod your moderator funny?

Wait, whoops.
Am I the only one who thought this was funny? +3 at least.
You mods have no sense of humor.

Rig the BIOS to stop the computer from booting when you stop using AOL?
Are you saying the majority is above average?
Wouldn't that make it average then?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the IQ scale was dynamic. 100 would always be the average intelligance. It's not?
If they're still facing mostly Kazaa/like/grokster users, or if they're branching out to DC, Bittorrent, gnutella, etc?
I'm a woman you insensitive clod!
Wow. That's impressive. Although I can't help think that what you just said is just a big metaphor for war in general.
