I watched Farscape almost religously from first season through to fourth , and I must say I was quiet upset when the canned it on a cliff hanger..
But now with a mini-series coming out to pick up the story exactly were it left off is AWESOME (yes I did know about it before hand , but it's nice to see a press announcement on Sci-Fi)
BTW. I thought that The Henson company picked up the cost ??? and Sci-Fi just has the rights to first play for another year.
Oh well none the less , this is one happy little 'scaper:D
If I had mod points I would have upped you to a 5:)... but on the other hand some people might raise a further observation of would Episodes VII-IX be a good idea regardless of who did the sfx... NO:P
Truthfully I hated Ep1 , Ep2 was alot better and I'm hoping for Ep3 to be good because it's so close to tying in with Ep IV (The 1st 3 don't deserve roman numeral imho)
I always thought with the current 3d cards coming out and the horsepower they can throw at things they would eventually be able to to tv quality 3d animation programs in real time.
Hopefully this is going to lead to alot more 3d animated series on tv in the near future , and in time pick up from where final fantasy left off. I still think it was such a pity that film didn't get the people into the cinema to watch it.
But I think the advances they made will pave the way for the future. Mainstream 3d Anime here we come:)
I've been using this player religously ever since I moved to linux , and now that they've chosen a default skin , I hope they incorporate it into the project properly (ie default download, compile includes it)
I love showing my 'doze friends look I'm playing an avi , followed by a dvd , vcd , mov , rm, etc... all from the same program !!! They just look flabbergasted and upset.
Then I go look I'm re-encoding using the same program (well source base at least) and once again they're flabbergasted , and wow hey no voice sync problems either:D
This is definatly one of the programs that makes my life a lot easier using linux
I'm am definatly glad that anime in general is getting more mainline exposure , especially with the animatrix and now Cowboy bebop.
It's such a relief for me watching manga , as they are more likely to (not always) go in a complete different direction than movies these days which always follow the same plot lines or have one special 'twist' at the end.
Now I just need to get them to Sieki No Senki so I can finally finish watching the series...
I've been looking into blogging , because it gives me a way of keeping a diary of sorts that has just enough of a technology edge that it'll keep me interested enough to keep writing in it.
Mon - Fri : "Went to work today , came home watched some tv"... and that bit about looking undead or hungover , well I usually look one or the other
I've been waiting years for a cd player that can play mp3's , because all the ones I've seen are small home company's which never ever get outside of the country they were created in. I like the idea's behind ogg , but haven't switched to it yet
If a big name company releases a ogg cd player (rw) mind you and it reaches the backwaters where I live , I'll jump on the bandwagon 100% and go ogg
I can't wait for ogm to come to light in the near future either
Damn I also thought that's an insane amount If I was the publisher , I would complain about deformation of game:P
On another note , the new 3dmark 2003 is out today as well , very very nice , pity it's 180mb though and it doesn't even use a game engine anymore, directly interfaces dx9 ??? silly buggers
On C&C Generals again , I saw some movies of it in action and it's REAALY puuurty:P hope my pc can cope with it
On the other post about winex , have people actually got that to work ?
I can see computer users getting a bad stigma from this one , just imagine sitting at your pc and having to flatulate every 5 minutes to keep it going , don't think you'd be able to get many friends into the computer room.
And it might introduce a new breed social disorders including powering the computer when you aren't even near one:)
You can throw in PHP , Java and Delphi if you want as well but that's more of a hobby.
I suppose I can get slated on only just getting started on learning OpenGL , don't even know why I bother validating myself to an anonymous coward though...
That just reminded me of the diakatana spoof where a guy phoned a chineese restaurant and asked to speak to John Romero (sp?) and after a few minutes tried to speak to John "Carmak" (searched on google for a link to the mp3 but I couldn't find it , sorry)
But on a more serious note , I got kinda dizzy reading everything after the long dotted line:P (And I program for a living)
Patents on the human genome , doesn't this affect us all in a very personal way ?
Biotech : "Excuse me sir , we have a problem" Person : "Yes , exactly what is that" Biotech : "You need to give us $100,000 for a
license" Person : "Or what ? " Biotech : "Or we are going to remove the part of"
"Your genome that lets you're body
Process food" Person : "I don't have $100,000"
I have a GBA and just recently bought a few new games , I now have Doom and a Diablo type LotR's game which are both amamzing.
I really don't mind Nintendo having a monopoly in the handheld market at the moment, They haven't abused it , the games are reasonably priced and the acutal unit is really cheap
But if the N-Gage has a backlight , I'll sign on with it.
One problem I do have is that these multipurpose devices usually have a heavy premium and some of the functions are underpowered or missing to make space for the other stuff
I just looked at the screenshots and wow , I'm willing to risk messing up all the Mandrake specific stuff for it:P , I know this should have to be the case but I'm still a bit of a newbie and I want all the bells and whistles:)
Okay that's fair and I partially retract my statement , but I still feel a bit unhappy that I never got to see StarOffice 6 except for some pics on the web:)
If the OpenBSD team isn't willing to agree to Sun's terms , well then , it is Suns hardware and they have the final say , but the article did make it sound like Sun wasn't willing to talk to the developers and barely the reporter either.
Sun has always seemed to be in the bussiness of sharing , but oftens seems to do a stab in the back
As an example Staroffice was a awesome piece of software, they release the source and everything, then all of a sudden you have to pay for it... and there's a open source solution that has to catch up to the new release that Sun just made.
I must admit I like Sun's approach more than MS's make it free , make it opensource , then make em pay...
I'm only willing to give an arm and a leg:P
I'm thinking my next card is going to be a NVidia so I can finally get proper tv-out under linux , I really like ATI cards (got a 8500) but their linux support is dismal and the only utility for tv-out doesn't support my card and it's not by ATi
NVidia = nice linux drivers = next buy
From everything I hear both places would be viable these days being a guru with computers (programming or otherwise) doesn't gaurantee you a job unless you've trained in 100 buzzwords , like RUP , XML , blah , blah , blah. All of which you could learn in a day or two of proper studying , but don't feel like lying on your interview form

And they had better make sure that the self
debugging can handle threaded applications
It'll be great , but I can tell you one thing
straight off...
I really pity the first person who has to code
it , ha ha ha , it's not going to be me.

Mon - Fri : "Went to work today , came home

undead or hungover , well I usually look one or
the other
Weekdays = undead
Weekends = hungover
I had the same problem between chair and keyboard
:)
but it wasn't the dying bug , it was the damn
installation bug.
I'm less noobie now on linux and thanks to this
post , I'm going to try install it again
I still remember the days of 3dfx saying 16bit
:)
color was the way to go and 32bit color
wasn't really needed for anything since they did
24bit color internally...
Sounds a lot like intel now , with all their 32
bit hoo haw and some sort of 40bit addressing
in the pipeline !!!
All I want to say if YAHOO AMD !!!! I'm a firm
supporter of the and think they should have
much more bussiness outside of the home hobbyist.
So begins the down fall of the chipzilla monolith

It's great when someone finally implements new and

inventive stuff in real life IT environments. Now
if they could just do it in my country.
I love the idea of getting a sms saying that it's
going to be 3 hours in traffic before you get home
AWESOME , I was really really waiting for this
:)
as I'm a anime fundi , and loved the matrix to
boot , just about to start downloading it now
Hope their ftp server hasn't been slashdotted

That's cold :P , acutally C / CPP / SQL
You can throw in PHP , Java and Delphi if you want as well but that's more of a hobby.
I suppose I can get slated on only just getting started on learning OpenGL , don't even know why
I bother validating myself to an anonymous coward

I completely agree , I can't wait to install this , unfortunately I think I might have to wait until KDE
decides to support this in a release version
On a plus side they say in Gnome it's faster using SVG instead of the PNG's that they were using !!!
Very impressive , better grafix , and faster to boot
That just reminded me of the diakatana spoof where

I think the point would be to have a dictionary looking with common spam words or phrases
:)
Eg spam.txt
"Penis Enlargement"
"Naked women"
"Massive amounts of money"
I think that would cover my hotmail account
