  1. My *other* life will be complete on Sci Fi Confirms Forthcoming Farscape Miniseries · · Score: 1

    I watched Farscape almost religously from first
    season through to fourth , and I must say I was
    quiet upset when the canned it on a cliff hanger..

    But now with a mini-series coming out to pick up
    the story exactly were it left off is AWESOME (yes
    I did know about it before hand , but it's nice to
    see a press announcement on Sci-Fi)

    BTW. I thought that The Henson company picked up
    the cost ??? and Sci-Fi just has the rights to
    first play for another year.

    Oh well none the less , this is one happy little
    'scaper :D

    If I had mod points I would have upped you to a 5 :) ... but on the other hand some people might raise
    a further observation of would Episodes VII-IX be
    a good idea regardless of who did the sfx ... NO :P

    Truthfully I hated Ep1 , Ep2 was alot better and
    I'm hoping for Ep3 to be good because it's so
    close to tying in with Ep IV (The 1st 3 don't
    deserve roman numeral imho)

    And they had better make sure that the self
    debugging can handle threaded applications

    It'll be great , but I can tell you one thing
    straight off...

    I really pity the first person who has to code
    it , ha ha ha , it's not going to be me.

    I always thought with the current 3d cards coming
    out and the horsepower they can throw at things
    they would eventually be able to to tv quality
    3d animation programs in real time.

    Hopefully this is going to lead to alot more 3d
    animated series on tv in the near future , and
    in time pick up from where final fantasy left
    off. I still think it was such a pity that film
    didn't get the people into the cinema to watch it.

    But I think the advances they made will pave the
    way for the future. Mainstream 3d Anime here we
    come :)

    I've been using this player religously ever since
    I moved to linux , and now that they've chosen
    a default skin , I hope they incorporate it into
    the project properly (ie default download ,
    compile includes it)

    I love showing my 'doze friends look I'm playing
    an avi , followed by a dvd , vcd , mov , rm ,
    etc... all from the same program !!! They just
    look flabbergasted and upset.

    Then I go look I'm re-encoding using the same
    program (well source base at least) and once
    again they're flabbergasted , and wow hey no voice
    sync problems either :D

    This is definatly one of the programs that makes
    my life a lot easier using linux

    I'm am definatly glad that anime in general is
    getting more mainline exposure , especially with
    the animatrix and now Cowboy bebop.

    It's such a relief for me watching manga , as they
    are more likely to (not always) go in a complete
    different direction than movies these days which
    always follow the same plot lines or have one
    special 'twist' at the end.

    Now I just need to get them to Sieki No Senki so
    I can finally finish watching the series...

    I've been looking into blogging , because it gives
    me a way of keeping a diary of sorts that has just
    enough of a technology edge that it'll keep me
    interested enough to keep writing in it.

    Mon - Fri : "Went to work today , came home
    watched some tv"... and that bit about looking
    undead or hungover , well I usually look one or
    the other

    Weekdays = undead
    Weekends = hungover :D

    I had the same problem between chair and keyboard
    but it wasn't the dying bug , it was the damn
    installation bug.

    I'm less noobie now on linux and thanks to this
    post , I'm going to try install it again :)

    I still remember the days of 3dfx saying 16bit
    color was the way to go and 32bit color

    wasn't really needed for anything since they did
    24bit color internally...

    Sounds a lot like intel now , with all their 32
    bit hoo haw and some sort of 40bit addressing
    in the pipeline !!!

    All I want to say if YAHOO AMD !!!! I'm a firm
    supporter of the and think they should have
    much more bussiness outside of the home hobbyist.

    So begins the down fall of the chipzilla monolith :)

    I've been waiting years for a cd player that can
    play mp3's , because all the ones I've seen are
    small home company's which never ever get outside
    of the country they were created in. I like the
    idea's behind ogg , but haven't switched to it yet

    If a big name company releases a ogg cd player
    (rw) mind you and it reaches the backwaters where
    I live , I'll jump on the bandwagon 100% and go
    ogg

    I can't wait for ogm to come to light in the near
    future either

    Damn I also thought that's an insane amount
    If I was the publisher , I would complain about
    deformation of game :P

    On another note , the new 3dmark 2003 is out today
    as well , very very nice , pity it's 180mb though
    and it doesn't even use a game engine anymore ,
    directly interfaces dx9 ??? silly buggers

    On C&C Generals again , I saw some movies of it in
    action and it's REAALY puuurty :P hope my pc can
    cope with it

    On the other post about winex , have people
    actually got that to work ?

    It's great when someone finally implements new and
    inventive stuff in real life IT environments. Now
    if they could just do it in my country.

    I love the idea of getting a sms saying that it's
    going to be 3 hours in traffic before you get home :)

    I can see computer users getting a bad stigma from
    this one , just imagine sitting at your pc and
    having to flatulate every 5 minutes to keep it
    going , don't think you'd be able to get many
    friends into the computer room.

    And it might introduce a new breed social disorders
    including powering the computer when you aren't even near one :)

    That's cold :P , acutally C / CPP / SQL

    You can throw in PHP , Java and Delphi if you want as well but that's more of a hobby.

    I suppose I can get slated on only just getting started on learning OpenGL , don't even know why
    I bother validating myself to an anonymous coward
    though...

    I completely agree , I can't wait to install this , unfortunately I think I might have to wait until KDE
    decides to support this in a release version

    On a plus side they say in Gnome it's faster using SVG instead of the PNG's that they were using !!!

    Very impressive , better grafix , and faster to boot

    That just reminded me of the diakatana spoof where
    a guy phoned a chineese restaurant and asked to
    speak to John Romero (sp?) and after a few minutes
    tried to speak to John "Carmak" (searched on google
    for a link to the mp3 but I couldn't find it , sorry)

    But on a more serious note , I got kinda dizzy
    reading everything after the long dotted line :P

    I have a GBA and just recently bought a few new
    games , I now have Doom and a Diablo type LotR's
    game which are both amamzing.

    I really don't mind Nintendo having a
    monopoly in the handheld market at the moment,
    They haven't abused it , the games are reasonably
    priced and the acutal unit is really cheap

    But if the N-Gage has a backlight , I'll sign on
    with it.

    One problem I do have is that these multipurpose devices usually have a heavy premium and some of the functions are underpowered or missing to make space for the other stuff

    I just looked at the screenshots and wow , I'm
    willing to risk messing up all the Mandrake specific
    stuff for it :P , I know this should have to be
    the case but I'm still a bit of a newbie
    and I want all the bells and whistles :)

    Okay that's fair and I partially retract my
    statement , but I still feel a bit unhappy that I
    never got to see StarOffice 6 except for some pics
    on the web :)

    If the OpenBSD team isn't willing to agree to
    Sun's terms , well then , it is Suns hardware and
    they have the final say , but the article did make
    it sound like Sun wasn't willing to talk to the
    developers and barely the reporter either.

    Sun has always seemed to be in the bussiness of
    sharing , but oftens seems to do a stab in the
    back

    As an example Staroffice was a awesome piece of software, they release the source and everything ,
    then all of a sudden you have to pay for it... and there's a open source solution that has to catch up to the new release that Sun just made.

    I must admit I like Sun's approach more than MS's make it free , make it opensource , then make em pay...

    MS just makes you pay :P

    I'm only willing to give an arm and a leg :P I'm thinking my next card is going to be a NVidia so I can finally get proper tv-out under linux , I really like ATI cards (got a 8500) but their linux support is dismal and the only utility for tv-out doesn't support my card and it's not by ATi NVidia = nice linux drivers = next buy

    I think the point would be to have a dictionary looking with common spam words or phrases
    Eg spam.txt

    "Penis Enlargement"
    "Naked women"
    "Massive amounts of money"

    I think that would cover my hotmail account :)

    From everything I hear both places would be viable these days being a guru with computers (programming or otherwise) doesn't gaurantee you a job unless you've trained in 100 buzzwords , like RUP , XML , blah , blah , blah. All of which you could learn in a day or two of proper studying , but don't feel like lying on your interview form
