With people like you, it's no wonder EA is still in business. Lost first city 8 times? I would have returned the product as defective the same day, probably after the second try -- I donot stand for bullshit.
*I* was expecting a single player game, like the 4 sim cities before them. All they had to do to make it another mega-hit is update the graphics and make the simulation a bit more realistic again using the newly available CPU power.
Instead they made a new game and called it sim city 5 to get some attention. I donot want games that can make my relaxing day off a living nightmare because there is some network/server/downtime/patch/account/coverage issue... again.
There's nothing stopping you from giving every user a unique knocking sequence, apart from lack of imagination and software implementation. Is it knock #43? SSHD expects user X to log in. If not, even if using a valid username/password, reject.
Number 2, you already gave a potential solution to that. Also, that situation, in relation to what we're discussing (automated attacks by bots) is unlikely to occur. If you do suddenly get lots of valid knocks, just change your knock.
Number 3... we're attempting to make it less public, not more. So I'm sure that's a problem for a http server, but *shrug*, http is not even a secure protocol.
It should just be any character. I don't care what the character is, accept anything, punctuation, spaces, kanji, hiroglyphs, political incorrect characters, characters that give offense to religious groups, the drawing some 3 year old made... ANYTHING.
You then just hash those characters... all of them... and store that number.
Well, it got them to fire her? Seems to me that the DDOS accomplished practically exactly what they wanted to accomplish.
Why are you on /. ?
Ok, I propose:
Any random person above the age of 200 can buy a 1 MW laser pointer. There is no restriction, other than age.
I guess those countries never understood the concept of the yellow light then. They certainly donot do that in my European country.
You should go back to reading those game magazines and get the real facts!

IMHO, life is too short to spend (part of) it reliving old memories.
Yeah, I've been wanting that for years, but never managed to find a plugin that does exactly that.
No, he moved to America.
Luckily there is no pressure to move to new forms of energy because there's an infinite supply and energy is just getting cheaper every year.

You're right. The center row should be "HRXRCMIIIHXLS".
I also preferred doing it on the print out, much easier for this kind of puzzle.
Took about an hour to solve, but I'm already insane.

Fuck that. They can use "decimal GB" or dGB as their "official" prefix. KB, MB and GB are base 2, and have been for decades. Live with it.
So, I guess we'll have to attack you when it rains then.
The alternative would be that there was actually more than one person with this incredible stupid vision. That seems even more unlikely.
What would be a fair number? 5? I think I could live with just 5 people shot per shooting incident.
They moved away from it because it was hurting their number of voters, that's all.
Fines really do work apparently... no robo calls here.
I agree, the conditions are absent in the pharmaceutical industry as well.
And a question mark when GPS/Speed info is not available?
never never = always
never never never never never never = always

I hope I made it clear to the developer.
I wouldn't call 23 cents per GB near price parity with 4 cents per GB...
Except, Google found it -- it was indexed by Google.
If Google can find it so can others.
