Imagine, online teamplay gaming without even a possibility of cheating!

To be technical, this is never 100% possible. Given a high-powered enough box running custom software to filter, replace, or alter the packets that come and go through the network, one could even cheat in multiplayer console games. But the cost in time, effort, and equipment is quite prohibitive for such a scheme, so we're very unlikely to see any cheating in Nintendo's console games.

I'm not trying to come down on your post, I just have a habit of being pedantic :). You do list some exciting ideas about Nintendo's next console, and I hope that we're all amazed at what it becomes.

They still do have the bravado and innovation, they just know not to let it get the better of them. They did have more overall public bravado when they were unchallenged in the console market, but heavy competition changed that. This contrasts with the handheld market, where Nintendo still dominates (and is acting with the bravado you speak of by stealing all of Sony's PSP thunder with the DS).

The situation is reversed in the console market, and Nintendo knows they have to play their cards carefully. Look what happened to Sega: they released an innovative console well ahead of Sony, but Sony dissuaded people from purchasing it, making unfulfillable promises about the Playstation 2 (Toy Story in real time, etc.). (This is not to say that Sega didn't screw up either.) Nintendo surely saw this happen, and knows not to make the same mistakes. Sony is the dominating leader in the console market, and Nintendo is wise to plan carefully, and to keep that plan close to the vest.

It would seem that the libertarian system is subject to the same pitfalls as the current system.

Wrong comparison, you're matching a uniprocessor system to a dual processor system. Here's the above comparison, but corrected for accuracy:

First, let's correct the Mac. Giving it an ATi 9600XT, and subtracting the modem (because you forgot), makes the price $1920.

    Now for the PC:
    MSI K8T Master2-FAR Dual Opteron motherboard $220
    2 x AMD Opteron Model 144 - 1.8 GHz $422
    Kingston ValueRAM 184 Pin 256MB(128MBx2) DDR PC-3200 $59
80 GB Serial ATA hard disk $64
SAPPHIRE ATI RADEON 9600XT Video Card, 128MB DDR $162
Logitech Deluxe Desktop (Deluxe Keyboard & Mouse) $11
Sony Beige 52X32X52X16 Combo Drive $38
Lian-Li Silver ATX Full Tower Case, Model "PC-V2000A" (much more comparable to the G5 case) $261
    Fortron 530W Power Supply $76

Microsoft Windows XP Professional With Service Pack 2 -OEM $145
I'll assume that this will be a Windows machine, but this cost is optional, since there are a number of free operating systems.

In total, the equivalent PC (as equivalent as it can be purchased) comes out to $1,458 (including the cost of Windows).

However, this cost is for a bunch of boxes with parts in them, not a computer that's ready to go once you plug it in. How long will it take to get it ready? Assuming you're fairly speedy, it's at least a couple hours removing stuff from boxes and getting it all into the case in a tidy manner. Then add another hour for installing Windows, then another couple for installing drivers / configuring Windows. How much is your time worth?

It has some key differences from the standard FPS, most notably that you move pretty slowly, and that you can only carry two weapons. This makes it less of a twitch skill game, and more about planning strategies to hunt down your enemies. I played the PC version for several months with some friends (before they decided it would be more fun to play pistols only with no radar - thanks for removing the strategy bit, guys!) , but I imagine that these differences would be emphasized even more on the Xbox, where the controller would slow movement down even more.

The P-M is not built on the megahertz myth, and outperforms P4 chips the same way that AMD's chips outperform the P4. It's basically picking up the P6 architecture where the Pentium 3 left off, and it's a fantastic performer, as well as being in the same power consumption range as VIA's C3 processors. Intel are going to continue to push the P4's Netburst architecture as long as people keep buying it, and when that takes its eventual nosedive, they'll have the P-M waiting. * It has a mini-pci slot on the underside of the motherboard, which is meant for a wireless card, and a removable antenna for said card on top of the case.

    * It only has two RAM slots, and lists the maximum RAM as 2GB.

    * The RAM is only connected to CPU0, so any data CPU1 requests will have to be requested through CPU0. This does mean there will be a speed hit, but it isn't major.

    * The MSRP is $499.

I just hope they offer it in some other color than bright red.
