    Install linux from home, yes. Then install Linux From Scratch. It's like Gentoo, except you do everything by hand, and it tells you what each package does. You'll learn a lot.

    and if you dont have the administrative password, you cant retrieve it.

    Boot from a *nix CD, edit /etc/passwd or /etc/shadow, and change it. Just like any other *nix.

    I wonder if the author has ever tried to type on a Dvorak keyboard? You'll notice pretty quickly that your fingers have to move a LOT less. I'm sure that's a good thing from an ergonomic standpoint.

    Wouldn't be that suprising if they used that nanodrive idea that they had in Scientific American a while ago. It actually uses a plastic surface that they put dents in (read/write, though), and it's supposed to be quite good. I know they had a working prototype a few years ago.

    What if you DON'T have a pda? What if you don't want one? If you just have an iPod and a laptop, this makes the laptop more useful by not powering it up and unnecessarily wasting batteries. I mean, why buy a pda if you don't have to?

    Ok ..how does this make IE any BETTER? You've specified problems with tabbed browsing, but IE doesn't even have that. So what makes it worse than IE? If you didn't use tabbed browsing, why would it be any worse?

    Very wise. Except that a PC with four times the processor speed, four times the bus speed and four times the memory bus, along with four video outputs, would be quite a bit more expensive than four individual computers, thanks to the commodity hardware market.

    Um. .dude, re-read that guy's post. He was talking about using the SAME computer you'd use for one person for four. Because most people don't even use 10% of their processor most of the time, you wouldn't have many conflicts.

    Um ..I'm sure they've thought of that. I've been hearing about this for a while, so I bet they've put it through its paces. Maybe they use uncommon frequencies so that there isn't much interference .. or maybe they use something more complex than a simple up-down in voltage to represent a bit? I'm sure they came up with something.

    What the hell is wrong with the GUI? I never understood this. The right-click menu is great - lots of things don't require even moving the mouse away from teh picture. And you only have to re-arrange dialogs when you restart, which if you're serious about doing graphics work should be pretty much never. So what's the disadvantage?

    wtf? Communism != Russia! I seriously doubt these people you speak of think good of Stalin (who I assume you are referring to with that comment about the millions dead). He and Lenin were totalitarian rulers who subverted the idea of communism to serve their own ends. Russia wasn't even a communist nation (and yes, a communist nation can exist, just not a communist state). Russia was a socialist dictatorship.

    That's interesting, because I find those same email groups the best help in solving problems; you can usually find someone who had the same problem, and often more than one way to fix it. I think 90% of my problems were fixed because of mailing list archives.
