Whilst Airbus and Boeing may have differing philosophies regarding the use and role of on-board computer flight systems, and whilst these may have bearing on some incidents, please read up on the incident you are referencing - it's nothing like you portray it:
Air France Flight 296
If you are going to be that strident about both the parent's misspelling of 'cue' and his incorrect reference to 'Australian Airlines' (which FYI is a now defunct airline which did operate between 2001 to 2006) at least make sure you are correct in your own assertions: the airline name is QANTAS.
...from EMI, or any of their ilk? They have to take this stance, no matter how inane in and of itself in this particular situation, because anything which remotely gives the consumer the overt or even tacit appearance of 'control' over music is anathema to their desire to re-vision their 'IP' as a 'pay-per-play' resource.
I found the anthropomorphic factor of this robot thru' the roof, mostly I think because of its movement characteristics. It immediately reminded me of an old German Shepard once in our family, particularly the sequence on ice when it badly slipped: it looked exactly like our poor old shep when his back legs went on him. Man, I almost shed a tear at that point of the vid!
They may have to think about toning this aspect down for war time scenarios - I can well imagine soldiers going to 'old yella's' assistance when he comes under fire!
You're a bit confused about who is being the generic idiot here - he IS doing something that contributes.
He's not visiting / passing through your country. Enough international citizens do this as a result of your security theatre and the US tourism industry will soon notice. Whether the administration cares about this is another matter.
Here's some info on the program - it basically allows persons from a number of countries to enter the US for periods of up to 90 days without getting a visa:
Pity your little bit of rhetoric is spoilt by the fact that this story relates to an incident 1 year old (as several posts in this thread clearly state), and is reported by the Daily Mail.
I'm not a citizen of the US, nor a US-phile particularly, but the article reads like an 8 year old's taunt.
No offence, but how is this an informative comment? It sounds far more like a glib throw away that a few mods have swallowed.
King Crimson have consisted of a core of players Robert Fripp, Adrian Belew, Tony Levin and Bill Bruford (Bill from 1974) since 1980, and later joined by Pat Mastelotto and Trey Gunn in the early '90s 'Power Trio' configuration. Several of these members have not been present for some albums during that period until present, and the current line-up is Fripp, Belew (whose has been on every release since 1981's 'Discipline'), Levin and Mastelotto, but it has been these six members only across that time.
Whilst the band member situation was certainly more dynamic in the period 1969 (ITCOTKC) to 1974 (Red - the band's last album until 1981), with considerable member turnover, this is hardly representative of the history of the band in total.
No - he did break the record, getting it down to 31 hours and 4 minutes. The initial description in the article was of a previous run, rather confusingly outlined in present tense. Page 5 onwards of the article details the record setting drive.
Excellent post. Lyons needs to be sent a laminated copy of this to hang on his toilet wall as a reminder of his shoddy work.
I've had a couple of short email conversations with Dan (not of any consequence, just something along the lines of resisting the urge to be a mouthpiece for SCO) and in his one reply he exhibited the same hubris as he does in this excuse for an apology.
See, it wasn't really him: SCO snowed him, he gave them the benefit of the doubt, and after all what's a journalist who follows a case for 4 years meant to do except take them at their word - continually. God forbid that he should pay any attention to a bunch of 'nerds' who happened to luck out - who woulda thunk it?.
And see, he is only publishing his 'mea culpa' out of his own supreme sense of integrity - "Online publications don't typically ask for follow-throughs. But I need to write one." - wow, what a guy! And don't forget, "Over time my SCO articles began to carry headlines like, "Dumb and Dumber," "Bumbling Bully" and "SCO gets TKO'd.". See, I really was doing my due diligence and actively seeking fact, wading through SCO's bullshit! He wasn't falling for SCO's brand of the truth!
And anyway, those nasty nerdy types in "that highly partisan crowd have suggested that I wanted SCO to win, and even that I was paid off by SCO or Microsoft. Of course that's not true. I've told these folks it's not true. Hasn't stopped them". Poor Dan is non-plussed by such callousness! How can we not but believe all Dan tells us?
Sorry Dan, that is the piss-poorest excuse for a mea culpa in recorded history - more about denying culpability, and attempting to shore up a position which was pretty much a dogshit-coated candy from day one. Grow some fucking balls and just give us the plain fact: you were wrong because you didn't do your job to any standard worthy of someone who proclaims themselves a 'journalist'.
Just how likely is it that yourself and the three others who modded this insightful didn't bother to actually acquire some knowledge of why the developer had that view?
It's all explained in any number of places, including this post in the thread:
Actually that video has no relation to remote control flight - it's video from the rather infamous demonstration flight crash of an Air France A320 at Mulhouse-Habsheim in France.
Then just don't update it. There aren't that many updates being released for W2K now, and as time goes on security issues raise their head less for a 'retired' OS. It won't be an issue.
More likely, the issue will be games released that won't install on anything other than XP/Vista - already stuff like BF2/2142 can't be downloaded using EA's download manager unless you're running XP.

Thanks for the link - very interesting.

hehe - actually, I thought your comment was funny: I was just weirded out at the modder who gave it an informative :)
Who the fuck wants to be informed about that? The mind boggles...
Nah - Weyland-Yutani has got a lock-in on that one.

I got it off one of his articles a couple of years ago - I haven't checked in a long time if it's available anywhere currently. Sorry.

It must have been a juvenile Drop Bear - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drop_bear.

Clearly the Senator has acolytes who check the content on these so called 'tubes'. You've made a powerful enemy today my friend...
Get your hand off it mods - parent is a troll?: whilst using a slightly colourful metaphor, this comment is on the money.
I'm still 0 out of 100 somethin' and counting.
Graphic card length long surpassed 'The Hedgehog's' equipment - not that I'm saying I've looked mind you: I only watch RJ pr0n for the humour!

Purely attributable to Pilot error. You may be getting confused with the fact that the A320 is fly-by-wire.
Hey - put me down for a kidney just in case: I've got a buyer!
