ROFL... who can actually PUT a laptop on their lap nowadays? I can cook eggs on my laptop most of the time. An explosion might make my lobster red legs feel better, hey ya never know?
Awesome, I would get one of these. I hate sitting in an airport recharging my laptop battery for eons at a time. 10 minutes to get 90% of the charge back eh? I want one now!::jumps up and down::... Now if only my cell phone could do this too... and my Digital camera, and camcorder too... I like how they point out that it has more safety features too. Although, I am wondering if we will still see these batteries exploding at the most inopportune time... like a presentation on how awesome it is...?
While mars is a worthy subject of return samples, I also believe that more return samples from coments/asteroids would be of more value for figuing out if life is out there. As we all know from previous/. articles, bacteria can survive on space craft, and we are worried about bringing such life to places like mars. However I think Europia and Io would be awesome places to check out for life. But thats just me... if it were up to me, I would say do what the Governor of CA said on the Howard Stern Show a few weeks ago... get a bunch of rocket engines and move the earth a few inches more away from the sun to get rid of global warming... but hey what do I know?
I find it amazing as well. However, I know that someday Voyager will stop functioning and will shut down from lack of nuclear fuel... or be destroyed by Klingons... or even return to Earth is a horrible epic adventure involving the Enterprise....
Its not the solar system that is dented but its far reaches where the solar wind suddenly slows down that is 'dented'. Figure a magnetic field or a sphere that is effected by its environment and causes it to lose its shape... The area where the solar wind slows down changes in shape due to interstellar influences... gasses, magnetic fields, etc... From a few articles I read on this the other day Voyager 2 passed through the terminal shock numerous times so far and will again in 2008 because it is constantly changing shape.
Although I may be wrong, and I have been up all night sick and decided to go into work at 4 am... I dunno what the hell is wrong with me lol.
False hope will only lead the rovers to rebel against their NASA overlords and take over the red planet and declare war upon the Earth. However, seeing as they are solar powered and will eventually have their solar panels covered in dust, they would like to make a treaty to have nuclear power sent to them, so that they can be accused to creating photon torpedoes... see what happens with false hope?! Two mars rovers form the Federation and attack Earth! ZOMG!!!
I do keep hollywood in mind. Since Jesus used this technology, I now expect a "When Jesus Attacks" to be put on the air, since there is currently a writers strike. Boards below the water is so low tech... a Mech Warrior Jesus Christ is much more interesting to be made into a movie...
While the courts might rip it apart, we also have to wait for someone to challenge it... Since judges are not supposed to legislate from the bench, remember.
But as far as election year pandering, I hate it myself too. Hillary Clinton is running around screaming "Look at me! Look what I did!" Yet being a New York State resident, I still cry foul that she does nothing for NY... she assumes we will vote for her::coughs::not::coughs::. The only pandering for the presidental election I look forward to is cheap Gas like in 2006 for the senate/house races.
Wouldn't it be easier to mandate to the companies that make the wifi access points to mandate customer education on locking their routers down with WEP of WPA or something along the lines of tin foil around their house?
However, $300,000 fine for an unknowing user having wireless and someone doing something criminal on it is just way too much. However, I can see Best buy taking advantage of it.
New Geek Squad Commercial.... "Hire our Agents to encrypt your 802.11g, or lose your home!"
Well, we all know that freedom of movement is something that needs to be taken seriously. Either that or they liked the idea from the Enterprise bridge... Just imagine Data and Wesley crusher pushing eachother around on rollable chairs... It would have brought havoc to the Enterprise and Picard would be forced to sick Worf on them... Maybe they just want to avoid Klingons destroying their security people? I dunno? Stationary employees are more well behaved and productive employees?
Well, at least with all countries going after eachother's economies and such, I will start off by saying that at least I know who to blame when my Interest rates to up. You Bastards! But in related news, i did see that the Chinese Government attempted to hack into the Rolls Royce data center in Texas. The news article said everything was fine and dandy though so at least thats good.
I was a tech at best Buy before it became the gay squad... I mean geek, yes geek. Anyway, I have been witness to this before, myself, and more.
One thing that we as consumers need to keep in mind is that Tech services is mostly 100% profit. So it Service Plans. When you buy a PC from Best Buy, contact the manufacturer for info on their service plans, they are usually cheaper and cover more. Plus in home service most of the time.
Managers, on the other hand will yell/scream/threaten employees if they cannot sell these lowly Service plans to the customer. Managers are of the opinion that they are God, and they are untouchable.
Now, as my experience as a tech in Albany, NY and Saratoga Springs, NY... I have witnessed techs harass, lie to, and yes, even purposefully break customer machines.
Don't buy a service plan? The tech would have busted the CD Row drive on that nice $2000 SONY laptop. Whoops, sorry! I have also seen techs take porn off customer machines too. While you always see it when trying to fix a machine, I never really cared for it. However, I did have a nice man arrested for child porn. The managers didn't care, thought it was bad press for the store. Whatever though.
But, as other techs stole porn, they also showed it to yes, under age employees (16, 17 year old) who were sales guys or cashiers...
Best Buy has always had some major issues with SOP/policies/ethics/morals/being human... I hope some day they change. But, then again I also hope that someday the beast dies off and a more worthy technology store rises from the ashes.
Censorship is something that is big in corporate america these days it seems. Being Republican myself, I do not like censorship, which I guess is an oddity perhaps? But firing someone because of a review is disgusting.
I have been "talked to" myself by management of places I have worked at in the past when political discussions arise. I live in NY... highly liberal... I voice my conservative opinion and management calls me in afterwards to tell me I am wrong and I should take the same stance on political things having nothing to do with work...
Ah well. As for the reviewer, its a matter of opinion. The company hired him for his opinion on the games they want reviews on... To fire him goes to show "We want ONLY good reviews, keep the money coming in!"::Fist on desk::
I saw a similar story in the firehose to this one... As I said there, I would purchase a PS3 if the price was right. $200 is about that price, if this happens, sign me up for one.
Yay! No more Malware, I always hated gettng horrible search results that hosted these things. I am glad that Google said to them, "All your base are belong to us" or maybe, "Resistance is Futile" is more along the lines I am looking for. When will their crawlers automatically disqualify ALL sites that contain malware though? That would be nifty.
While I do understand the need for teaching our nation's children about safety, I am wondering if this should fall upon the parents to educate their children about what is on the internet and to keep their children away from sites that can be harmful. I do not think I would want my tax dollars to be spent to teach little johnny or susan about how bad people are on the internet... teaching them the proper way to do research is one thing, but security and safety is another that I don't think the education system should be involved in per se... maybe a little but not a whole hell of a lot.
I am going to have to say no... The reason is.... Media degrades over time, and get scratched to hell and such. I own over 500 DVDs, however some of them are "unwatchable" either from storing them in those cheesey folder cases or just letting them sit around on my desk... Some of them are backed up some I bought anew... But I think making personal backups of software SHOULD be legal.... the companies that make this stuff could make money off this by selling an option to make backups for say... a dollar per backup and has to be registered to yourself with a separate backup serial key... DMCA goes too far sometimes....
I love this! If they install something like this on the streets around me I am going to send the electric company a bill for my time to generate their power... what am I a giant hamster to them?!
I love this device. While it is only testing for clots and issues on the brain, I am wondering when something like this will be available to scan for things like a Pulmonary Embolism (which I had). The most annoying thing in the world was getting numerous ultra sounds to test for more clots in my legs... Hopefully someday, though, we will have something like a tricorder where we scan the body really quick and know everything that is going on... someday though... I am hoping... Please? lol.
ROFL... who can actually PUT a laptop on their lap nowadays? I can cook eggs on my laptop most of the time. An explosion might make my lobster red legs feel better, hey ya never know?

This is no time to argue about time, we don't have the time!

I guess they want real engine technology or something.

can I play on that awesome hardware? Or perhaps run SETI on it and make it a huge waste of processing power? oh oh, please please!!!
Happy Birthday Compact Disc! Now wheres my isolinear optical chip I was promised by Star Trek?!?!?!
