You can easily change what MAC address Telus has recorded, BTW. I don't recall the address offhand, but you can go to a web site and have it autodetect your current MAC address and use that, or you can even type it in manually if you need to. Quite handy if you buy a new PC.
PS - Unless they've changed it recently, Telus has always offered two dynamic IP address, and as such you could register two MAC addresses. Or at least I have the option for two IP addresses.
Or why not swap out your discharged battery for a charged one? Then the service center can take as long as necessary to get the battery recharged and ready to go for their next customer.
Either that or someone needs to create a real-life Mr. Fusion.
It's hard enough to remember and type in a xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx address. How big a hassle is it going to be, when we need to type xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx?
I'm probably misunderstanding what you were trying to say, but isn't this why we have DNS? I personally don't know any IP addresses by heart aside from my local 192.168.*.* ones at home, and I survive just fine. The only reason I can think of offhand, is for games with IP-based multiplayer, where you have to type in the IP address of your friend you want to play a game with. But even that is disappearing, since the advent of things like Battle.net and Gamespy Arcade.
Um, since when is 'interoperability' the same as 'lack of innovation' and 'stealing'? Nobody's trying to 'steal' NTFS to use in Linux. Rather, people are looking for a way to access their data from Windows that's stored on an NTFS partition. I don't think any Linux users would willingly give up EXT3 or ReiserFS for NTFS.
It's not Mac OS X that bundles more software, it's the Mac computer. To compare apples to apples (no pun intended), you'd need to be comparing an iMac to a Dell or Compaq PC. All the big apps that the commercials brag about are actually part of the iLife suite, that Apple includes in when you buy a Mac. In the event that the EU doesn't like Apple including iLife with all new Macs, they can easily comply and include a mail-in coupon for a free copy of iLife or something like that. It's not like the apps are tightly integrated into the OS and they'd complain that they can't remove iPhoto without breaking the entire OS.
As far as apps that are bundled with the OS, it's mostly all just small utilities (font book, activity monitor, calculator, etc.), OS features (Automator, Dashboard, etc.), and then the only larger apps are Safari, Mail, and iChat. And if you don't like them, you can simply drag them to the trash can and they're gone forever, unlike another popular OS from Redmond. IIRC, iTunes isn't even included as part of the OS but rather part of iLife (but is also a free download).
Huh? I read the linked article, and it didn't say anything about anyone blaming Bush... Yes, a US government department is listed, but that's not the same as saying "Bush is to blame."
Probably search your HD for protected AAC (.m4p) files. They'd likely scan the metadata within the files too, to make sure they're track's you've purchased and not just copied from someone else to get free tracks from MS.
Not much of a deal, getting a house in Kipling. I've been there as many of my mom's aunts live in or around Kipling. Just a small, quiet farming town in the praries. At least it's better than Eatonia, SK where my grandparents live, where you can buy one of the lots from the town for $1 plus however much taxes are owing.
Well, I guess that's what you get for only wanting to spend a paperclip!
I was watching a show a few weeks back on The Learning Channel about a woman who weighed 600+ lbs, and I was amazed to see that she actually could walk. Granted, she could only walk for very short periods of time just to get from her bed to her wheelchair for example, but I was thinking about how strong her legs must be to be able to support that much weight and not collapse as soon as she stood up.
...Apple's last BIG "upgrade" - which ran much slower than previous versions!
Of course it ran slower, on the same hardware. There's more features in 10.4 than 10.3. I don't see how this is any different than each version of Windows being a little slower in each incarnation. There's no way I'd dream of putting XP on my first PC, that ran Win95 acceptably. And my PC that runs XP decently would just barely be able to run Vista.
For a fair speed comparison, Tiger and Leopard should be compared to the final release version of Vista. There's lots of extra features 10.4 has that XP doesn't, so it makes sense that it's a little slower.
Plus I doubt anyone who bought a Mac did so because they thought it was faster.
A cult classic is a work (e.g. a movie or TV show) or group of works (e.g. songs by a certain band) that may not achieve widespread mainstream popularity but does attract devoted, even fanactical, attention from a select group. See cult film, cult televison, cult radio and cult following for related topics.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cult_classic
There's plenty of people who don't like, or haven't seen, Napoleon Dynamite, but there are others who think it's one of the funniest movies they've ever seen. If everyone thought it was a fantastic movie, then it wouldn't be a cult classic.
Works fine for me in Firefox, on a Mac. (I have WMP installed as well, and the page specifies that Mac users need to download and install WMP from Microsoft)
I know it's not exactly the same as this scenario, but the first thing that popped into my mind upon reading this headline was the STTNG episode where the kids have super-enhanced immune systems. The kids don't get sick, but their immune systems are do advanced that they proactively seek out and attack stuff outside their bodies, which includes the other residents of the lab...

PPS - I just looked it up, and the address for the registration web site is British Columbia: http://oca.bc.hsia.telus.net/ or Alberta: http://oca.ab.hsia.telus.net/

Can someone explain why we even need this sort of precision?
One's from Microsoft so that automatically makes it evil, apparently.

Would somebody care to explain what that's supposed to mean?
I wonder if I need to see a psychiatrist? For some reason, I read what you wrote as "...a 3x5 card stapled to my sister's pet dog."
Maybe the Ancient Greeks were on to something with the whole participate-in-the-nude thing.

And here's a complete map of Kipling.

I can't wait for the first Kentucky Fried Super Chicken shop to open!
Looks like they should have put their web server in the centrifuge as well...

Don't forget lazyness.
:)
As I frequently reword a well known saying, "Lazyness is the mother of invention."

Yeah, horrible article. First thing I noticed was the "supposed to be worth 47" line. Worth 47 what? Dollars? Rupees? Hamsters?
Open Preferences, then go to Advanced, and General. Uncheck "Resize large images..." and FF will no longer shrink the images.
