    If you go onto Apple's site when it's up, or here... http://cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml06/06245.html then you can see where on the battery the information that you need is.

    Also, you don't need to poweroff your laptop to take out the battery, just leave it plugged into the wall.

    and then a kernel exploit will come out and your box will be fucked the day when all of the assignments are do for some major project. And poof, things are now pushed back. Oh, and they probably deleted the logs of them doing this as well. And the logs weren't remotely stored because we're talking about someone new to *nix / bsd.

    You're forgetting the cost of labor. When you send your computer out to the shop, that's where the majority of the cost comes from. For an easy example, next time you get in a car accident, look at the repair bill (since everything is itemized), and take a gander at comparing how much the actual parts cost, versus the labor. Last time I checked, the labor was a bit more expensive then all of the combined parts.

    If a library like glibc upgrades to use the new libraries, then every program that uses that library as a non-static dependency will benefit.

    Because your client is intelligent in thinking that maybe you logon to aim from somewhere else (perhaps work?) and that you might have added people there. So, being the smart program that it is, since AOL says that these people are in your buddy list it adds them.

    This is far more a problem of aol screwing around with people's buddy lists and adding a group and 2 buddys to everyone's list.

    write a portable back-end, and keep the amount of things that are platform specific to a minimum. Or atleast write compile time things so that if mac, then use the os spell checker, or spotlight, or what have you, if it isin't, then use a different implementation or what not.

    you don't get bluetooth or airport with the ibook at $999 You will also ALWAYS get an integrated graphics adapter on a laptop. Where the hell else would they put it? Actually... damn. the airport is built in now. Just add 50 Dollars (half the education discount) and you've got bluetooth. I'd toss it for the ram or the hard-drive though.
