    Wonderful! Now taks a Windows XP disc with any service pack slipstreamed that you may want, reinstall the operating system on that laptop, and tell us how many of the special features still work.

    I am not against Microsoft, and I make quite a bit of money developing software for their operating system, but I have found that more stuff works out of the box on my systems with various linux distros than what works with a vanilla install of Windows.

    I see plenty of people remember games that did that. Another one I did not see mentioned was the old floppy version of Tie Fighter. Losing the manual was the only thing that stopped me from playing that game.

    Speaking of Lucas Arts, how many people here bought X-Wing vs Tie Fighter and the expansion pack, Balance of Power? IIRC, and it has been a while since I last played it, you had to have the Balance of Power disc in the drive to start the game, then switch to the X-Wing vs Tie disc so it could verify you had it, and then switch back to the Balance of Power disc. At that point, the game would finally start, and that was required everytime you started the game. I never did play that game much simply due to that ridiculous disc swapping.

    Everybody is settling down for the last algebra test of the semester before the final when the woman in front of me turns around and asks why she missed a problem on the previous test:

    -x^2 (x=2) => -4

    She had answered a positive 4, and I told her it was an order of operations issue. I reminded her of the "Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally" stuff. I even showed her the expanded version of the problem: -1 * x^2. She completely freaked out, and nobody around her could calm her down.

    Anyway, the test is handed out, and I notice that she is not working on it. A few minutes later, she reached into her backpack and pulled out a textbook for antother class. 10 minutes later, she walked out of the class, and did not return for the remainder of the semester, nor was she there for the final.

    The rules of the House prohibit amendments of a subject matter different from the text under consideration. This rule, commonly known as the germaneness rule, is considered the single most important rule of the House of Representatives because of the obvious need to keep the focus of a body the size of the House on a predictable subject matter. The germaneness rule applies to the proceedings in the House, the Committee of the Whole, and the standing committees. There are hundreds of prior rulings or "precedents" on germaneness available to guide the Chair.

    Exactly. Sexually explicit scenes or scenes with over the top violence are often filmed for movies, but those scenes are often cut when it comes time to get the rating the studio would like.

    In this case, it seems some content was deemed inappropriate for the rating they wanted with the game, so it was disabled. I work as a programmer, so I know how tempting it is to just disable those parts rather than to completely delete them.
