..instead of asking here, you read up on someone that is already doing it?
BrinkX, he is going all over the globe, mainly by biking. But you are thinking too heavy, breakable and power hungry. Think light and easy to power / recharge and more durable.
I take it that 1) You don't live in southern New Mexico 2) Have never been to Las Cruces, NM (Clyde Tombaugh's name is all over the place). If you have or had been, then you would understand.
Tombaugh is a local hero (The "do it yourself" guy that found a planet) to people there and having his discovery "watered down" is akin to going to someone that has three purple hearts and taking them away because of an "oversight".
So, the saddest thing is your complete lack of details as to WHY they want to do this. It is to honor someone.
funny thing is.. ALL stereos have an AUX port. It is just that they use to be always int he back of the unit. So you need to pull it out and add an extension cable. It was a non-issue because they all had tape decks, so you can use a tape adapter to plug something in.
But with CDs common now and tapes going the way of the dodo, that access point is gone and the AUX port is needed in an easier to access location.
So now this "new feature" has just been moved from the back to the front.. where it should have been all along.
FYI.. Clear channel is sponsoring a couple of channels on XM. It is easy to figure out which ones. But 98% of the other channels are not Clear Channel sponsored.
After 3 months of XM.. I keep wondering WHY I kept listening to regular radio so much.
X-Play had a better review..

This game is not a "buy it game" which is why they put the Halo 3 stuff with it... to get people to buy a sub-par game.
Other than the interesting physics.. it is an average shooter game. Making stuff blow up was about the only fun they had with it. So yes, it is a "rent me" but not worth buying... unless you just gotta have Halo 3...
To put it simply - bullshit. When I click and drag in GE, it stops when I release the mouse. When I click and drag in WW it continues to drift.
Then.. turn the feature OFF then. Sheesh, quit bitching and LOOK at the configuration options.
Wrong. GE does not render each and every layer - let alone load them. WW does.
Watching GE load on a modem, I would have to disagree.. it takes forever to load tiles. (Zoom down to 100 meters and it is a 15 minute wait to see the spot.) With World Wind I would have to only wait 3-5 minutes.
Also, define layer. I think you are confusing layers and levels. Layers are different imagery, levels is how close you are.
World Wind Java (1.5) will come out for public beta before the JavaOne conference in May. Closed alpha testing and bug fixing will be starting in the next few weeks.
The windows version (.net 2.0) is primarily being supported by the open source community since the funding and direction for the NASA World Wind team is towards the Java version.
the community does welcome anyone that wants to come in and help at working the code, DX developers would help a lot to get some of the features hammered out more smoothly.
Why wait for this when the Sloan Digital Sky Survey http://www.worldwindcentral.com/wiki/Sdss is available in NASA World Wind.. NOW. (Yet again, Google is not the first to do something)
I just worry that with Google "helping" the imagery could be locked up so not everyone has free and equal access to the data.
But it is not really a screwup.. the straps perform perfectly with normal use.. it is the "over excited" players that break their straps. And it is also not wide spread issues.. I have only found a few (under 50) confirmed cases of the strap breaking.. and every one of the cases.. the user was whipping and throwing their arm everywhere.
Which is why I am flying to San Diego today...

May be "funny" but it is true. With Cell/Moble/Whatever you want to call it.. people can get a hold of you almost anytime and anywhere. So, unless you turn it off or leave it behind, you are always at someone beck and call.
And with GPS in phones now, you're boss can find you and see where you are at for you're one hour lunch break and give you a call to talk about things.
I don't browse the web on my phone. I don't watch TV or listen to music on my phone as well. I use it for what it is.. a PHONE. So I am kind of concerned at to HOW they will bring the ads to me. Will it be something like this?
*ring* Me: Hello? Phone: This call has been brought to you by.... Me: Argh! Caller: Hello? Me: Ah, ok.. I had an ad playing here. What's up? Caller: It's you're father he is in the hospital with.. Phone: Interested in hospitals? Check these out... Me: What the f**k?!? Caller: What did you just say? you're father is in the HOSPITAL! Me: Sorry, the phone just ran another ad. Caller: Oh, I.. see.. Well, you're father is really sick so you should go see him. Phone: Want to send flowers....... Me: Let me call you back from my land line. Phone: Need phon... *click*
Problem with that idea is that the images are only about 100k in size per tile per tile and greatly reduced in pixel size. So no.. GE doesn't even compare to this gigapixel image. You are comparing an Apple to a Car.
Great we know the outcome... bur how about a link to the REASON as well. "Management Issues" doesn't seem like something to yank a certification over.

That the "Smell of the sea" is just the smell of rotting and decaying organic matter?
the 'lower' PS3 price in Japan is hurting Sony's bottom line
NOT selling a PS3 hurts the bottom line even more.
But... a Mac is also a PC. So, shouldn't people be saying the "Windows Operating System" instead?
I just worry that with Google "helping" the imagery could be locked up so not everyone has free and equal access to the data.
What Bullwinkle?
Watch me pull a lawsuit out of my a**!
This will most likely get swept under the rug and forgotten.
If you check the writeup here of the announcement... everything they want to do.. NASA has already DONE with World Wind.

Considering the refered site in the post is now 500 error.. I think the submitter has accomplished what their threats did not.
... but who knows in this day and age.
I am not saying that "anonymous reader" IS the person sending the threats to Deanhunt.com

The news articles I have seen, read and heard all said there was "No Credible Evidence" that this was a real threat.
Save for the one slashdot finds and posts..

The only thing Wii related that seems to be in short supply on launch day is the new Zelda game.
So.. they didn't learn a damn thing from the PSP commercials.. and we saw what a huge hit didn't become.
Another poster was correct.. if you have to explain the commerical.. it is a falure.

No 360 so not getting a HD-DVD adapter...
Not getting a PS3 anytime soon as well...
I don't need an overpriced DVD player...
Guess I don't fit the HD marketing plan as I don't care about HD.
