Umm.. I like where I work but I do NOT put in anymore work than what I am paid for. Putting in 4,5+ extra hours a week because it is "fun" does not put any more food on the table and keeps you away from family longer.
Manager: You really like working here? Peon: Yep, this is a fun job! Manager: Great to hear! By the way.. there would even be more fun if you stayed 2-3 hours more each day. Peon: Great! Do I get paid for that? Manager: Err.. no. But it will be fun though, I promise! Peon: Ok!

Lets see..
Late paying: Service turned off... that sends a better message to the user alredy.
Want to switch: If you switch inside your contract.. they already sock you with fees. And if you are switching providers.. you are probably also switching phones so that nulls that issue.
I will start seeing Madden 07 in the bargin bins... it didn't get many good reviews.. But sales are good for it because this is the ONLY NFL game you have to pick from.
Cost savings. You have any idea what it would add to the cost of the vehicle to design something to plug an iPod into? Instead of a 50$ addition for the additional wiring.. you are adding a few hundred dollars because now they to re-engineer the dashboard to fit the iPod.
It is cheaper to just run the wire to someplace no one really uses much anyway.
Also it is theft deterant; out of site, out of mind.. and the iPod is still in your car when you get back.
They have done several "lighining related" tests.. going by some of the tests they have done.. a cell phone is NOT going to increase your chances of being struck my lightning.
In fact.. to get the lighning to always strike a head with a piercing on it they had to have about 5lbs worth of metal on or in the head target, and rarely did it actually HIT the metal in the head (untill they added the 5lbs or so.. the big metal door knob in the head finally did it).
Statisticly.. the metal you wear or a phone is not going to make you more of a lightning magnet than no metal / cell phone.
It is still wise though to bend over and grab your toes if you are out in the middle of a lightning storm, they say the ass is the safest place to get hit....
Is that camera phones are banned from most work places, fitness clubs and I have just notice at some local movie theaters.. even there (cell phone use for movie piracy I guess?).
You have any idea how hard it is getting to find a good phone with all the features you want.. and NOT have a camera attached to it? You almost have to go to Nextel as they seem to be about the only cell company that doesn't have every phone be camera enabled.
I ended up having to get a camera phone just so I could have some of the features I wanted (mainly bluetooth) and found a case that fits the phone that covers over the camera eye. Good enough to get past the rent-a-cop security.
Another post on a comparison of how large Olympus Mons is.
World Wind has many Mars add-ons already... And I have heard that Venus may also show up in 3D with World Wind 1.3.4's release. You can install it as an add-on now sans 3D data.
But then in 1000 years it will come back and destroy the earth.. unless they create a second ball of garbage to shoot at the first ball and knock it away.
Because there is no way I am willingly going and buying MORE stuff just to watch TV. HD equipment is WAY overpriced. I have already looked into just a receiver so I can use my antenna.. the cheapest I have seen the set-top boxes is 350$ AFTER a 75$ rebate.
HD antenna's are as cheap as 15$... untill the receivers get that low.. I'll stay with analog.
The reality, though, is that I constantly have to re-evaluate if my top paid employees are worth the money they're getting paid. I don't have as much trouble as do MOST IT employers -- my employees make minimum wage plus a large per-project bonus. I would pay less than minimum wage if I could (and more of a bonus), because it forces workers to become more efficient, and we all benefit from this.
I take it the saying goes.. "You get what you pay for." Really works here.. I can't see HOW they could even survive on a deal like that... for that to work for me.. you would have to give me a bonus that comes out to about $28/hour and 40 hours a week.. at the LEAST. And if you have a slow time with no new projects?
I am sorry.. but that would NOT "because it forces workers to become more efficient".. it causes them to do the "bare work needed to get the job done" nothing more, nothing less. They won't go out of their ways to make it better.
I am sure if I would show this to any of the IT recrutiers I know (and I know a lot) they would most like laugh and wonder how you could keep your turnover rate from lasting longer than a project.
I don't care one bit about increasing speed of broadband. What I would like to see is all these companies spend a little of this money to INCREASE their COVERAGE areas.
Look at the numbers.. growth of broadband coverage areas has been stagnet for the last few years. They have not spent much into looking how they can spread the coverage out further. All they care about is how they can raise the cost up for people to use... guess I am better off with my $9 a month modem connection..

A weekday and right in the middle of the day... so that means I can either go to work or be unpaid for half the day or more.
I got the call yesterday, they were recomending I be there at 6:30am. As much as I would like to get a Wii... I can wait a few weeks after release.

I have been sending out hundreds of resumes lately... and not ONE return phone call or job offer!

Could do a long post... but easier just to point to this /. post that was already up with MANY MANY good links.
Simple.

I was just thinking the same thing... everything they talk about, you can do with extensions installed. So what is the point of using that browser?

Loaded up a few vids.. all they do is point to ANOTHER site... what is the point of this service then?
http://www.lotpro.com/cars/2006/hummer/h3/safety/
The NHTSA gives the H3 4 to 5 stars for front and side impacts.. 5 starts being the best in that vehicle class.
The front impact looks like it takes most the abuse: http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/NCAP/Cars/3682.html
Maybe your aricles are a little "anti" sided perhaps? Of course.. you only said "Hummer" so maybe you mean the orignal.. these are H3 numbers.

Next you will be telling us that Homeland Security is tracking people with GPS enabled cell phones to know where they are!

But here is a post about the imagery that is currently "ready" there will also be a full color imagery dataset by release time.
There is also an add-on to view Venus imagery in World Wind. Though that is not yet with a 3D texture yet.
Don't get me wrong.. GE is a nice image viewer, but you can't really expand it's boundries that far.
The saying "More money than brains" really can apply to this..
A book that is already out of date the day it was printed.
WHY do people bother putting these out? A waste of paper AND money. Sorry, I just can;t see this being a worthwhile book to get.
I thought Web 2.0 was the future?
Ow wait.. that's right.. that was LAST week's "future". So, shall we take bets on next week's "future"?

Looks interesting. "May" be good. But no way and I paying $70 +tax/shipping for just a simple keyboard.
That is already one big red X against it. Does it really cost $60 more than the current keyboards to put the keys in a different place?
