    Actualy

    they have tried to fix it

    and they have been quite honest saying they cannot find a way of fixing it

    however they do know how to detect it so they go for the mass banning option

    My best guess for reason is that its to do with the buyout

    Microsoft have been looking to by vivendi games for a while now and with most of the blizzard guys being PC gamers they probably hated the thought of making Xbox games

    sure all of us will be long dead by then but at some point we will need the ability to leave earth behind or face extinction

    depends how technicaly minded you are

    they might tell you to reinstall if your someone who dont know a whole lot about computers

    but unlike windows they also jave the option of telling you fixes for problem by telling you to delve into the code and change somthing

    to my knowledge the first proper computer was collosus which was developed in england during the second world war to help with the decryption efforts in bletchly park

    I totaly agree

    im at college in the UK at the moment just finishing off a national diploma in computing

    and i was talking to the sysadmin at out college

    even though it would save the college money and make the network run faster he is actualy forbiden from using non microsoft software to run the college network

    its fucking rediculouse

    all the big LAN parties i have been to have had a bar there and there has been much drinking of alcohole :)

    Im not sure your right about govornment getting discount

    look at the latest deal with microsoft and the US govornment
    US govornment is paying them full price

    as far as i know those nice discounts are reserved for education only so thats why you can get XP for so much cheaper

    Your right that there are good points about software patents

    however they also stop inovation because patents mean that the only people who can advance in a technology is the people who have the patent and then if they decide not to advance it then we just lose out.

    using a rather extreme example
    imagine if you found a way to solve world hunger but found out you couldnt because one of the mechanics of the process was patented

    also no software patents does not necesarily mean losing all advantages
    i mean there is no law against not telling anyone about it untill you have finished your product

    its just that once you have unveiled your product to the world everyone is free to advance that technology rather than just a limited amount of people who probably wont do as good a job as the many

    but in the eyes of the law they do (its somthing like 85% market share needed for monopoly status i think)

    also it could help the US aswell
    if those sort of conditions were forced upon US software companies then it might convince the US to abolish software patents aswell

    Actualy he is correct

    at least in a business sense the Xbox is a massive mistake

    it has a huge loss attached to it (somthing like 33% loss)

    its only kept alive because bill gates has the money to keep it alive

    with things as they are if bush tried to intervene i think the commision would probably give him the finger and ignore him

    on the other end of the spectrum he could even support such a thing in order to help rebuild bridges between the US and EU

    If the EU commission do force microsoft to detach media player from windows in europe then they will probably do the same to this

    meaning us Euros get a more competetive OS market :)

    your failing to realise its a business not just a game

    This sort of event makes people lose faith in the game and so costs UBI money
    the same way a bank would lose money

    The entire MMORPG business would collapse if hackers could just destroy it without fear of consequences which would cause massive job loses

    I enjoyed WC3 single player

    but as others have said were the game really shines is in the muliplayer department

    i dont think there is another RTS on the market that provides such a fun fast paced strategic battle as warcraft 3

    Actualy this isnt america we are talking about

    Its Europe

    Europe doesnt really owe microsoft anything as microsoft dont really contribute to our economy

    This is main reason this ruling is likely to bite harder than the US ruling as Bush wants to protect the business's that benefit him

    Though the ruling might not effect you americans at all as a posible result would be for them to demand microsoft ship windows without media player in Europe but you can be sure they would ship media player in America still

    I really think Nvidia have shot themselves in the foot this time

    no one in there right mind is going to buy a card that is only slightly better than the radeon 9700 which will drown out your TV and people can hear it from another room in your house

    Nvidia say they are going to make is less nosiy but how?
    there is a whole lot you can do to make a fan less noisy except reduce the cooling ability of it and toms hardware report that even know it runs at 60 degrees so reducing the RPM could posibly damage the card or at least make it unstable

    im a gamer and main reason i dont use linux is the lack of games nothing to do with hardware soon as alot of companies start making linux versions of there games ill switch from windows without a second thought
