My best guess for reason is that its to do with the buyout
Microsoft have been looking to by vivendi games for a while now and with most of the blizzard guys being PC gamers they probably hated the thought of making Xbox games
to my knowledge the first proper computer was collosus which was developed in england during the second world war to help with the decryption efforts in bletchly park

I totaly agree
im at college in the UK at the moment just finishing off a national diploma in computing
and i was talking to the sysadmin at out college
even though it would save the college money and make the network run faster he is actualy forbiden from using non microsoft software to run the college network
Your right that there are good points about software patents
however they also stop inovation because patents mean that the only people who can advance in a technology is the people who have the patent and then if they decide not to advance it then we just lose out.
using a rather extreme example imagine if you found a way to solve world hunger but found out you couldnt because one of the mechanics of the process was patented
also no software patents does not necesarily mean losing all advantages i mean there is no law against not telling anyone about it untill you have finished your product
its just that once you have unveiled your product to the world everyone is free to advance that technology rather than just a limited amount of people who probably wont do as good a job as the many
This would massivly help the european software market
also it could help the US aswell if those sort of conditions were forced upon US software companies then it might convince the US to abolish software patents aswell
Europe doesnt really owe microsoft anything as microsoft dont really contribute to our economy
This is main reason this ruling is likely to bite harder than the US ruling as Bush wants to protect the business's that benefit him
Though the ruling might not effect you americans at all as a posible result would be for them to demand microsoft ship windows without media player in Europe but you can be sure they would ship media player in America still
I really think Nvidia have shot themselves in the foot this time
no one in there right mind is going to buy a card that is only slightly better than the radeon 9700 which will drown out your TV and people can hear it from another room in your house
Nvidia say they are going to make is less nosiy but how? there is a whole lot you can do to make a fan less noisy except reduce the cooling ability of it and toms hardware report that even know it runs at 60 degrees so reducing the RPM could posibly damage the card or at least make it unstable
im a gamer
and main reason i dont use linux is the lack of games
nothing to do with hardware
soon as alot of companies start making linux versions of there games ill switch from windows without a second thought
Its still being made by bungie
its just microsoft decided to buy bungie and make halo Xbox exclusive
"4) You wouldn't believe our uptime, sometimes we go for weeks without rebooting."
:P
hehe
is that surposed to be impressive?
Actualy
they have tried to fix it
and they have been quite honest saying they cannot find a way of fixing it
however they do know how to detect it so they go for the mass banning option
My best guess for reason is that its to do with the buyout

Actualy regardless of how we treat this planet our sun will explode eventualy destroying earth with it
sure all of us will be long dead by then but at some point we will need the ability to leave earth behind or face extinction
depends how technicaly minded you are
they might tell you to reinstall if your someone who dont know a whole lot about computers
but unlike windows they also jave the option of telling you fixes for problem by telling you to delve into the code and change somthing
were in that does it say he invented computers?
to my knowledge the first proper computer was collosus which was developed in england during the second world war to help with the decryption efforts in bletchly park

its fucking rediculouse
its just better when you actualy get to talk to people in person drink beer with them and such
its a much better atmosphere then sitting in your bedroom on your own
Really?
:)
all the big LAN parties i have been to have had a bar there and there has been much drinking of alcohole
Maybe its just English LAN parties were we drink beer and frag at the same time
Im not sure your right about govornment getting discount
look at the latest deal with microsoft and the US govornment
US govornment is paying them full price
as far as i know those nice discounts are reserved for education only so thats why you can get XP for so much cheaper

iv had it installed for 24hours now and iv had no problems with it so far
everything is running fine
true but the dictionary definition they dont have a monopoly
but in the eyes of the law they do (its somthing like 85% market share needed for monopoly status i think)
Exactly

I agree
:P
im english and i hope you dump us
we dont want to be run by europe
tony blair wants britain ran by europe while at the same time he gets shafted by bush but the british people dont
we want to be our own country with out own govornment running stuff
not some guy from over sea's
i find the idea of people actualy wanting there country ran by someone else other than there country insane
Actualy he is correct
at least in a business sense the Xbox is a massive mistake
it has a huge loss attached to it (somthing like 33% loss)
its only kept alive because bill gates has the money to keep it alive
Indeed
with things as they are if bush tried to intervene i think the commision would probably give him the finger and ignore him
on the other end of the spectrum he could even support such a thing in order to help rebuild bridges between the US and EU
good point
:)
i hope your right
If the EU commission do force microsoft to detach media player from windows in europe then they will probably do the same to this
meaning us Euros get a more competetive OS market
your failing to realise its a business not just a game
This sort of event makes people lose faith in the game and so costs UBI money
the same way a bank would lose money
The entire MMORPG business would collapse if hackers could just destroy it without fear of consequences which would cause massive job loses
I enjoyed WC3 single player
but as others have said were the game really shines is in the muliplayer department
i dont think there is another RTS on the market that provides such a fun fast paced strategic battle as warcraft 3
wish i had UT2003 now
