  1. I don't get it on Opera Invents New P2P System · · Score: 1

    What is today's date?

They keep telling me it is 2nd of april.

I guess it is april fools day all-year-round when it comes to IT-business news.

  2. Re:1 kb on RFID Music Player · · Score: 1

So its all those beeps, we love

You were supposed to say "So it's those beeps we ALL love.

And no, it is not music, it is noise - even if it was a great invention someday.

It's nice to see that Google Reads slashdot.

Does Google also comment in slashdot?

  6. What about movies?!? on World's First Physics Processing Unit · · Score: 1

Everybody here talk about games... HL2 felt just fine, but oh my god if they could sell some basic physics to hollywood as well! Maybe next Hulk sequel will have gravity pulling the green ape down!

Try measuring frame by frame if the laws of gravity apply to YOUR favorite movie before you say it is SOOOO realistic..

  7. international team of scientists on Experts Suggest Replacing Definition of Kilogram · · Score: 0, Troll

They are getting too big a salary for the nonsense they are arguing about. How about developing non-polluting energy-sources instead? How about flying cars?

  8. Re:Flash suppression on Floaters are the New Pop-Ups · · Score: 1
adblock and flash-click-to-view did not work together too well.. In order to [ad]block flash, you need to:
    • click flash to show it
    • adblock -> overlay flash (for left click)
    • left-click flash to block it.

    obviously, flash-click-to-view had to go.
  9. digitemp on Electronic Gadget Ideas for a New House? · · Score: 1

I am planning to setup digitemp sensors on all rooms, using ethernet cabling around the house. Make sure you got good wiring, and lots of it!

  10. counter-strike on Nokia To Use Microsoft Digital Music Software · · Score: 1

if I just keep the damn thing on vibrate all the time? I hate those )(@#&@!#@!#& ringtones

Walk next to the phone, start singing/whistling along with the ringtone, and keep it going until they hang up the phone. Remember to praise the ringtone. If you can't sing, you can get excellent results.

    MacGyver did. :)

ÅÄÖ & åäö are quite common in scandinavian languages, so does this mean that I am typing shift-down half the time when writing in finnish?

"Tämä on näyte meidän skandinaavien kielestä"

Other non-english-speakers may agree on this..

  14. Re: bound in the middle on A Pizza Box for Your Laptop · · Score: 1

Read the article and check the pics. Laptop is bound right in the middle of the box, leaving some room around the edges..

  15. Good browser on Opera Browser Beta Adds Voice, More · · Score: 1

...is yet to come. But I'm simply glad that the fight is between firefox and opera, the two best browsers available.

I love opera for it's instant redraw of history-browsing. Opera is also almost perfect single-instance-browser (tabbed, almost never opening that other window).

But the firefox seems to show more sites as they should.

    I call it a tie.

  16. OMG! on Burn the CD on Both Sides · · Score: 1

I'ts a duplicate advertisement!!! NOOOOOO!!! How can the special readers protect their eyes from all that damage coming their way?!?! In order to survive this awful deja vu, they need to submit angry reply and re-configure their FireFox AdBlock software to block all the new stories from slashdot!!!

How can this world be so cruel?????

(Seriously, I enjoyed this article, and there is NO FREE LUNCH!)

Do they have also non-regular-shaped discs for visiting cards?

  17. Beautiful Mind on Australian Police Given Power To Use Spyware · · Score: 1

in central London, the water coming out of the taps has on average passed through seven bodies before it reaches you.

I don't get it. Only Seven bodies - since when? I have imagined that the water has always:
    • circled around
    • underground
    • in a cloud
    • through your mouth
    • in and out.
Bottle of water - how much of it is really new - as in just reformed H2O?

  22. Re:Pfffft... whatever! on What's Up With Computer Audio? · · Score: 1

Quake did something kind of evolutionary and paid a big name artist (Nine Inch Nails) to produce their music. It moved the bar far beyond anything MIDI.

In my opinion ANYTHING goes beyond MIDI, I have always felt those "general" instruments very embarrassing way to replicate the sounds of any band or orchestra. Now, if we think back those days when the best game musics were made in Amiga 500.... :)

  23. Rhymes on New Lubricant Leads To Faster Hard Drives · · Score: 1

...while CD-rom is called "romppu", which has no meaning at all, but looks similar to the other two.

  24. Logitech mini wheel mouse on Logitech Gives A Mouse A Laser · · Score: 1

I got the logitech mini wheel mouse as a gift from my girlfriend ages ago, and it is still my favourite mouse. It was pretty cheap, and I got another one at work - optical! Fits nicely into both hands (I am left handed) and it is as a MOUSE should be (with a tail on it).

It lacks the frickin' laser, but I prefer getting my mice for 20 euros.

  25. Patent pending.. on Mars Odyssey Begins Overtime · · Score: 4, Funny

How long does it take for Microsoft to get all patent rights for interplanetary email?

There is also a new Microsoft innovation, called MS Solar time, method for keeping track of time on different planets. It is based on the microsoft scheduler and the office assistant "Kenny the Galactic Clock".
