I don't know if this fits the bill but Master of Orion 3 has TONS of micromanagement you can do. Though it may lack the action you're looking for, you can get down to really low level management or set policies and managers to do all the menial work while you conquer the galaxy. Good fun if you like getting hung up on the details.

A national lottery would be unprecedented and somewhat illegal without the approval of each state. For instance Powerball isn't available in a lot of states because of their gambling laws. Revenue from state lotteries often go towards education but much of the time it is reappropriated later and added to the states tax revenue.

A government partnership with a network to do a television show is interesting to say the least. It's something that I would watch and would probably increase public support, which would be more important than fund raising in my opinion.

Is it just me or was the description for this article particularly hard to read? I had to read it 3 or 4 times before I actually got it. And while I'm ranting, do we really need 7 or 8 links per description? This seems a little excessive. There's a lot to be said for clear and concise writing and well thought out summaries that only include necessary information. The details belong in the article.

  5. Mindless on Games Quarterly Gets All PDF On Boardgaming Scene · · Score: 4, Interesting

After actually looking through the magazine, I could not find one bad review or pithy comment about senseless rules or lackluster products. I can understand being enthusiastic about games but I got the impression that the whole magazine was an advertisement for every game featured. In one article they praise some dwarven forge miniature setting pieces and claim the price is reasonable. I know quie a few gamers who think theses pieces are nice but far too expensive, especially on a typical gamers budget.

Also for those with a gamecube I'd highly recomend Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem which is clearly heavily influenced by Lovecraftian fiction. The more the characters are exposed to the supernatural in game the more the game messes with the character and the player. Blood would run down the walls, screams would be heard in the night and limbs would fall off only to reappear. Also the game might pretend to turn down the volume on the TV among other things. Play it with Dolby surround sound in a dark room and you'll find yourself freaking out.

I believe that this minority is actually a pretty conforming group. Sort of like the followers of Brian in The Life of Brian where in response to Brian's plea, "but you are all individuals!" the cultists all reply in unison, "yes we are all individuals" Rejecting tradition seems to be a tradition in and of itself.

Who uses UML? The designers or the programmers?

I should imagine the designers wouldn't be very good at it, and I should imagine that programmers would have better ways to express themselves.

Actually a good designer probably has some experience coding. As to who uses it? Well ideally the designer or project leader should author it and the programmers should be able to read and understand it, so both parties technically use it.
