but I think that anything Linux-based right now is not really going to hit the main stream. Maybe in a couple years but not now.
I know there are a lot a young people who are computer users, but mostly its us 30-45 year olds who are stuck on windows and we make up a huge segment of the user population. Its going to be really hard to get us to change our ways, even more so for people who are even older. change is scary.
though its nice when its free.
Im sure someone has already said it, but moving the hubble anywhere near the ISS is not a smart move. The ISS leaks gasses and fluids into space. It has its very own orbiting space junk. Because of this the hubble would never be able to get a clear shot of deep space. It would be suffering from the same things as earth bound scopes, thus defeating the purpose and taking away the justification to spend any money on it. A higher orbit would be the way to go here IMO. Better yet tow the thing out to L1. Then you dont even need to worry about orbit corrections and all that fuel could be used for pointing the hubble and it would last a lot longer. At least that MHO.
an ipod? How is this an iPod killer? Its a huge expensive media player. How many people do you know walking around town with their little tv's? I never see it. How many people walk around listening to music? I see it all the time. I do it myself. I know there are many who like to have a little video player. I admit it would be great waiting for my plane, but i would not spend a lot for one. I, like many others just want to listen to music. I like to walk around watching the world around me not a video. The music, to me is like lifes sound track. I watch the cars and people go by to the beat in my ears and its wonderful. how would i get that with my face barried in a screen? How would you ride you bike with this? Folks would be crashing their cars all over the place. I really dont see this being as huge as people think its going to be. maybe down the road, but not now. IMO anyways.
" but if I give you a bomb and you give it to a terrorist, aren't you just as liable as I would be if I gave it to them directly?"
You are an ASS!! Enough with the fucking terrorist analogies. Oh..what if you do this and it's used by a terrorist. Shut the fuck up fear monger. Like MP3's or files distro has any thing to do with terrorist. Oh let me guess...I drive an SUV so I support terrorism and drugs. ASS!
I cant tell you how PISSED OFF I was to find out that I actually had to pay EVERY F'ING MONTH to play the starwars empire game at all. I had no idea of that when I bought it. I guess its my fault for not reading the tiny blurb on the side of the box. Assholes. It looks as though this is going to be the wave of the furture. First you charge 50 bucks for a game, then you charge 20 a month if they actually want to play the game they bought. If they make you pay to play, the game should be free. I know off topic, but im still pissed when i think about it.
"To tell the truth, I didn't know that the US was pushing so hard to ban stem cell research all together."
Make no mistake, the "US" is not pushing for anything. It's your asshole hick in the whithouse that's pushing. He is your president not mine..I voted for myself! I think that next year the rest of you will too.
sorry mate, but "nit-picking" or not, the show was crap! I never really watched the original thus had no expectations as to how it may compare, i do know that it was toture to force myself to watch it after i TIVO'ed it. Bad acting, bad sets, bad graphics! Holy crap show batman!!
I was under the impression that the way that quantum communication was to take place was with quantum entanglement. That being the case, there is no transmission line to tap at all. As has been demonstrated, entangled particles effect each other instantly regardless of distance. Meaning you could have one on the moon and one at the sun at when you messed with one the other would be messed with the same way at the same time. So really, it makes no difference weather the NSA or anyone else can tap a fiber cable. Well, now it does, but not at the point when they figure out how to keep particles entangled.
Im sure that someone has already said this, but ICBM is Inter continental ballistic missile. Which is completely different from a cruise missile, so ease up off his back about it. A cruise missile runs low altitude. ICBM's run VERY high up which is why they can get places so quick. Well...also they are pretty fast. Not to mention the fact that an ICBM is freaken huge. I actually used to maintain the launch shaft when I was first stationed at Whiteman AFB before they transitioned over to the B2.
that if you have a patent for something but you choose not to excersise it for several years and durring that time it becomes a standard, you would not later be able to suddenly "turn on" the patent. I may be wrong, but i seem to recall that from a business law class i took. If they keep this up I may turn into a mac zelot.
It is quad band GSM. 850/900/1800/1900 GPRS as well...an not thats not a seperate band. Uses 1900MHz. There isnt really anyone using 850 yet, but there are many carriers that will be adding it since analog is no longer required and the 850 GSM actually runs on the same freqs as analog. 824-849MHz.
Keep in mind that Linux is only the back end for this unit. What you see on the front end will be basically java apps. Also Dont assume that just because the back end is open source that you will be able to have total control of your phone. There is a lot of money in after market programs for "smart phones" and there is no way that motorola is going to give that up. There will still be subsidy locks that will not allow you to install what you want.
I would expect to see the price of super compting dropping dramatically in the comming year. This is based on the press release from Clearspeed regarding their new processor.
Here is a wired article that talk a little more about it.
Its worth the read.
Not to mention the fact that I am not about to pay for a music company spoof song.
How many versions of the same song do you need to download before you get a working one?
dang people you need to delete that stuff when it doesnt work.
to type now that i removed my shift keys. you cant be to careful 1111. guess i will save some 4 by not buying that new wireless shiftkeys included keyboard.
I wonder which year?

Any chance you could use it to power your cluster?
It's not funny to spread rumors like this! You almost had me too. For a sec...I thought my life was over ;)

"We didn't find the technology to build MRIs, bone analyzers, or magnetic bearing systems laying around on the surface of the moon."
Yeah, that because we never went to the moon! Although had we gone, I bet we would have found those things up there.
Keep i mind that when this was built, the Euro was worth a lot less then it is now. It has only recently taken on such value.

"Rumour has it that the RIAA is secretly developing software that emulates a giant maginfying glass..."
You forgot to mention that they are having microsoft develope software that acts as a giant sun!

Check out the Motorola MPX200 then.
No cam. But it runs Smartphone 2002. Has an SD slot. MP3 Player. I dont think it had voice recorder.

Seems like since there are several billion of them it would be much cheaper to use the good'old piggy back method. stack'em up.

I just sent this to my boss. I'm sure that I will be seeing my new work station within the week!
