I've been playing poker for almost 10 months now after a fellow programmer got me hooked on Hold'em. But I do have to say the I don't think my programming experience has really helped me. Sure, knowing the odds and stuff helps in the long run, but mostly only for ring games. Tournaments are a another story.
I think what helps more, especially when you play with the same group of people a lot, is the image you project at the table. I play regularly with a bunch of my co-workers, most of whom are programmers. They all have the image of me that I play good cards and never bluff. If they only knew. It really helps to get a nice big stack early and bully them the rest of the night.
HELMET: How could there be a cassette of Spaceballs-
the Movie. We're still in the middle of making it.
SANDURZ: That's true, sir, but there's been a new breakthrough in home-video marketing.
HELMET: There has?
SANDURZ: Yes. Instant cassettes. They're out in stores before the movie is finished.
Since when doesn't Slackware have a package system?
man makepkg
man explodepkg
man installpkg
man removepkg
man upgradepkg
man pkgtool
Not having dependency checking does not equal not having a packaging system.
Jeopardy used to have a 5 day maximum for appearances and a few years ago they doubled the
dollar amounts on the categories.
Who knows what some past 5-day champions could have done?
Slackware has always had package management, it just never had dependency checking. Why do people always say Slackware has no package management? What do you think installpkg, removepkg, upgradepkg are for???
Then use a mirror.

My father served on the NR-1 as storekeeper (SKCM) for a number of years. Luckily this did not required him to go out with the sub as it was so tiny anyone who wasn't needed didn't go on the patrols.
He was on many subs in the USN for 20+ years. A few of them were the USS Sam Rayburn, USS Whale, USS George Marshall, and USS Phoenix.
Anyone else play? I'm hopelessly addicted to it. http://www.kingdomofloathing.com/
I can confirm this. I saw the seatback displays all reboot and watched Linux boot up. I thought it was pretty neat and myy wife thought I was a dork :)
That's a horrible idea. Laptop drives aren't meant to be used 24x7.

Does this finally mean Linux will have something like Solaris' gethrtime()?

So they admit they've neglected their own code base. And they wonder why Linux has rocketed past it.
Pingtel that is, not Pintel....oops.
We use several Cisco and Pingtel SIP phones at work and the general opinion is that the Pintel phones rock while the Cisco ones stink.
The Mayans had a system of "binary" based on 0, 1, and 20 if I remember right.
