I'm loathe to post on this subject, but when I was a child I distinctly remember an interview with Mr. Lucas where he stated his original vision was THREE trilogies (ie, 9 movies). I was very into the first three (4, 5 and 6), but since it took him so long to get those out on DVD (I guess any time now, right) I refused to watch the new stuff. No reason to go back on a promise now, just to find out what Han and Leia's kids turn out like.;^)
The BEST is Best Buy. They always pay quickly (themselves) and the third-party rebates also arrive quickly. The WORST is CompUSA. By far. Had to fight with them over one, and that took about 6 F'n months to arrive. I do NOT shop there anymore. When the company doesn't care and the store manager lies to you repeatedly, why bother. Circuit City is good, but not up to BB's level. OfficeMax used to be better than CC, but OH MY GOD, when the stopped running those great deals back in April 2004 (you know the ones, FREE this and FREE that after rebate, and real cheap writeable media). Now they are just above CompUSA. They rejected about 8 of my rebates in this year (prior to this year, NONE). I fought with them and got some eventually, but a few they just never sent. I also don't shop there anymore.:^) As for Best Buy selling used items as new, I always check carefully no matter where I buy things, and I don't think this has ever happened to me. Sorry to hear it has to others.

Back before the so-called Global Warming craze took effect, the left tried pushing the theory of a new ice age. Nimoy's In Search Of TV show had an episode saying a new ice age was coming. I also have a book from Reader's Digest called Strange Stories and Amazing Facts from the early 70's has a story about the coming ice age. This, of course, never happened (just like every other doomsday scenario they try, ie population, meteor, running out of oil, ozone "hole" etc.)
What is new is that they now claim that "global warming" will CAUSE a new ice age. Nice twist. Weather patterns are cyclical. Watch your local news for proof. Look at the record high and low temps for a week and note the years. If the earth was heating up, or cooling off, the gaps would not be so wide. Rather, you would see a steady pattern in ONE direction! Instead we get the same bunk based on junk science. We keep finding new, less invasive ways to get to oil previously unreachable. Any holes in the ozone just so happen to be over volcanoes, which generate ENORMOUS amounts of CO2. We keep finding ways to produce more food despite the population rising. And the meteor ain't hit yet; but they still have hopes that it will.;^)
I look at it this way; I don't mind some swearing and nudity, but sometimes I want to share a movie with my younger relatives and this would be a great way to do that (since it will cut out a little bit or all of that stuff). If you don't like it, then don't buy one. Pretty simple!
TotalRecorder is AWESOME! And CHEAP! And you get FREE upgrades! I've found it worth the small fee I paid ($10 or so, several years ago). You can record from any source, even things that are "blocked", because of the way it works. Check it out! I found it when I was in your position, actually...
As for Freeware, you can check PC World, and Tucows. They still have some Freeware.
Yep, just like on (school) tests. When in college, I had several times I knew an answer was right, and sure enough, after checking, the machine had read it wrong. Old technology that STILL doesn't work right. But they know that, and use it any way. The facts show that the punch card ballot is the BEST method (ie, the least number of errors per 100,000 votes).
Read some of IA's work when I was younger and enjoyed it. Watching this I was hard pressed to see anything familiar. WS is a funny guy, and yes thank God he didn't get the Neo job, but geez, maybe he should stick to pure comedy. ID4 wasn't bad (I own the DVD, and I'm pretty picky about what I buy). It just seems he is better at that, than, well, this.:^)
0 out of 5 on the trailer goosebump meter. Won't see it.
On Cox, you said: "But..wait for it...for 3mb down / 384 up they want $325.00."
Where? In Antarctica? I have Cox for HSI in Ohio and they charge $39.95 for what you state above. Granted, that is with regular basic cable at another $40 + tax, but even without that the HSI you list in the quote above would only be $49.95!
Google bought DejaNews (remember that?), and Deja had a free e-mail service. I LOVED that one. It had lots of neat features. Google kept it for a few months after taking over and then killed it off. If they do offer one, again, then they should make it like the old one!
Maybe this is the one that they took out of Cameron's ass in the movie Ferris Buehler's Day Off...;^)
"Pardon my french, but Cameron is so tight that if you stuck a lump of coal up his ass, in two weeks you'd have a diamond." -- Ferris Buehler's Day Off
I had several who wrote their own book and made us buy it on top of the actual class book! I also had a few who told us to NOT buy the class book, and that we would be tested from our notes taken during class. Saved some bucks there! LOL, but OH my poor hand! (pre-notebook computer days)
Most people look for books that have been highlighted already. WRONG! You could be getting the book of a complete moron! Eek! Instead, get the cleanest used book you can. If you MUST highlight, do it yourself! Then you know you got the right stuff! GL!
The real reason to not shop there: they pulled Maxim magazine off the shelves, while leaving womens mags! But, being bi, I guess thats not a major deal for you.:^)
When the WB moved its EXCELLENT Smallville show to Wednesday night, at the same time UPN has been running Enterprise, it killed it. Enterprise was pretty awful anyway. Nice concept, but it just didn't "do it", for me anyway. Given the choice, I chose Smallville. No regrets. I've always like the ST shows, but in this case, its the second best show on Wednesday at 8PM.:^)
Not quite sure about the McDonalds coupon book, dude, but getting toothpaste, tic-tacs, and deodorant is a CLEAR message. And now you know why nobody wants to be around you. LOL!
You don't think there is ANY Christian allegory in LOTR? I've read excellent arguments to the contrary (can't point you to any, as its been too long since I read them, but they do exist). He was a devout Catholic, and the story contains lots of religious elements (as well as LOTS of things that happened to Tolkien in his own life).
At least with JD we got a full season, but with the ending of that show, there were still questions to be answered. Oh well... I also miss Crusade (2nd Babylon 5 show). It was JUST getting good when TNT pulled the plug.
