I have to have a 802.11b receiver to listen, why not use an FM transciver?
I know it's cool and everything, but there's a fine line between being cool and useless (see flushing toilets vs. Thomas Jefferson's two documents at once copier)
""ultra-efficient data compression system used in MiniDiscs" to fit "30 hours of MP3 music" on a CD-R. (I thought MD used ATRAC rather than MP3, and that ATRAC's standard bitrate was 285.3 Kbps -- can some MD gurus bring us up to speed?)"
Read: "ultra-efficient data compression system" == ATARC. They're just saying MP3 because it makes people go "OOOOoooo!" and buy it.
Geek chic is coming into popularity. The other kids at my high school are very impressed with the various case detailing methods, and especially enjoy such companies as Alienware, who has now replaced Dell as the system "to have".
Who wants to preserve them anyway? I, for one, have no interest in buying a punch card reader. Companies that do certaintly need an overhaul on the scale of the Y2K bug to straighten out.
If you opt-in, it's quite easy to put an entry to the data entry department. If you opt-out, you need someone who's trained to delete (which believe it or not, is a big deal in the data entry industry).
And it's taken them this long to set up a system like this. I'm glad Bush got his act together and appointed someone to the administration who actually cared about information technology, otherwise this may have taken much longer.
The various governments of the world get together and spend the money to educate the public about the Nigerian scam. My relatives delete the e-mail because it's too good to be true, not because they know it's a known scam.
I'm a small-time programmer at a rather large gaming company (can't say who, obviously, but no MS), and recently the demand for RTS programmers has gone up tremendously. This is mostly due to the success of Age of Empires.
Just goes to show how much MS is the proverbial "golden goose", turning everything it touches into gold...
The kiddies could use a program to take care of their little Pokemon/Yu-gi-oh/the popular electronic pet du jour, and write it to the cd when they're done and carry it around for them. No need to carry around a disc to play your saved game.
"Segway's price, low speed and tightened spending"
I knew it wouldn't sell the day they announced it, as did everyone here. Glad they did some marketing research before blindly following a "genius" inventor.
I don't understand why this isn't being looked into more as a reason for the Columbia disaster. If you look at the latest issue of US News, on about page 8, they have a handy dandy map of space debris. It looks like the whole earth has a white halo due to the sheer amount of it.

How did he get first post rights and manage to download, install, and review software in less than a minute?
We'll correct the oversight of games not being recognized as a part of pop culture by writing a book about them?
Silly waste of power, the x86 instructions were flawed from Day One (read Intel Inside for a good description why, it's too long).
Why exactly are they only broadcasting half the games, even with the national broadcast restrictions there should be a lot more games being broadcast.
...it's still gay.
First taking advantage of my subscription post!
I have a service called Kazaa that costs 0 cents a song and lets you burn a CD. I like that better.

Microsoft moving to Palladium certainly helps them move toward their goal of privacy.
Maybe embedded devices could finally give Linux the big push it needs to become popular...

YAUML (Yet Another Useless Markup Language) should become more commonly used around here.
believe it or not.
might wanna check my user info and bush's state of the union address.
Nice try, but I'm talking about my physical life , not liberty.
