To be fair, when that claim was made he was 100% right, as the way of rating what was a supercomputer at the time DID infact rate it as one while Intel and AMD had yet to have their consumer desktop systems break the gigaflop barrier.

The behind the scenes info is much better though, at the same time Apple was using the old standard for calling a supercomputer a supercomputer, it was trying to change it so that they could export them, which because of the "Super Computer" status, they couldnt by order of the Defence Department.

Course to be fair EVER manufacturer makes grandiious statements like that, its part of the whole thing called SELLING a product. As long as their is truth in their statements, its perfectly fine.

Despite playing the game myself I cant help but be slightly bothered by the potential dumbing down of the MMO market this could possibly cause. One of the reasons I loved UO and play FFXI now is because its NOT easy, its infact somewhat hard to play. WoW though I just jumped in and without much effort make a lot of gold and have really nice equips to the point there is really nothing seperating me from the rest of the 5 mil.

WoW did a lot to make MMO's accessable to the masses, but Im starting to wonder, do we really want L337 Sp34k asshats and just about everyone getting the best armor possible with little to no effort? A great example of this is SWG. Even SE is making its next expansion much more accessable to the masses after making what I thought was the best expansion to a MMO, one where you actually had to put a little effort into playing it to get the most out of it.

Maybe Im just too oldschool I guess, I miss the days of when you died it really ment you where dead, your body was looted and you started from scratch.

These shows are amazing in that its real world aplications of a lot of the "boring shit" and concepts that they are learning in the classroom. Would you just sit them down to watch it without teaching around it? Hell no. BUT it can become a very informitive AND highly entertaining tool to keep people interested in science, applications of technology, problem solving, list goes on.

And you have obviously not watched many of the episodes, as you would find in most of the later season 1, 2 and now 3 ones they consult experts in their fields a lot these days.

I think the underlyiing factor is that no matter ow many legit players there are, way too many ARE infact there for the selling reason. Its unfortunate that such descrimination exists now, and I can tell you at first it didnt to this extent. But way too many people ruined it for the few.

Which brings up another insteresting fact. That Apple has a much larger household share than its marketshare would lead you to beleive based on the fact most macs have a 3-5 year life vs a normal PC which is usually done and thrown away after 2. They did a study on this a few months ago andd I think they came to the conclusion that Apple actually has a 15-20% household share, vs the 1.5% marketshare in that they sell that many computers a year.

In the end Apple is a enigma in the computer industry, its proven that market share really doesnt mean crap if you run your buisness right.

    Thus it isnt illegal.

As for the patent it's self, it seems apple was willing to admit it might have infringed on a kinda shady patent involving dynamis streaming (which is shady in the fact that like most software patents, its pretty much something that everyone would come to the conclusion of, which in that case is NOT patenable) What broke the whole deal was they wanted iPod royalties, which have ABSOLUTLY NOTHING to do with the patent in question.

as for differences, the only known improvement is that this is graphically the PC version with double the original draw distance of the PC version. While it might be a "port" MMOs really are hard to place in that group because no mater what new version comes out, you STILL need the base game, which will always be a "port" if its now on a different platform.

Two weeks should be bigger news of the oncomming expansion, new jobs (blue mage is a known addition, but there is supposedly 2-3 more new jobs being added) new mobs with a few more FF favorites beign added like Imps and Lamias, as well as how expannsive the new continent will be.
