well for one thing the cost of paperwork is down, as is the tendancy for someone to run from the law easily since the linking of state crime databases are poor for all but the worse offences. Likewise one unified card would prevent the numerous fake ids that are used by using a state id that is easily spoofed (in NJ its well known you can get a NY ID and drink away at 18, up until recently NY ids sucked while NJ ones had a few methods of preventing counterfitting)
Saves the time when a cop stops you by letting them swipe the card in and not punch in all the info on the card.
I could go on. But your not going to listen anyway, people always expect the worse and expect this thing to be full of like your medical problems and who you dated and everything else, when thats not the point the point is to make a ID card that ISNT your SSN which is what most organizations use whih causes MAJOR theft of identity issues.
hes just a troll, last I saw, canada is doing the same thing which is actually just catching up with the rest of the world who have had a simular system for years.
I move computers around for a living..... ANYTHING big is a hassle. I would rather cary 5 minis at a time than one of these dell monstrosities I do lug around.
Why?
Cause with the dell Im carrying one computer, maybe two. With the mac mini Im carrying 5. It is a major hassle rearanging one computer and hooking up all the cables etc, which all cut into my time, having the thing weigh 7 or 8 pounds doesnt make it better.
So does Enterprise, but as is evidenced by how much people dont like the episodes like Simultude, people dont care if it reflects the issues and morals of the time, god forbid they be asked to think different its trash TV and it sucks.
Gah what the hell are you talking about TMP was great, you just couldnt be a mindless drone caught up in Star Wars to get it. TMP is like the 2001 of the Star Trek movies, its ceribral.
TFF proves that sometimes Religion and SciFi dont mix, but most good SciFi (Dune, A lot of episodes of TOS, the old BSG) has a lot of religious influences in it.
I really dont get this need to bash Enterprise or put it up against BSG, especially since E is canciled, and more importantly... neither show is on at the same time.
First you have two different audiences. I mean lets face it BSG is more a war show than it is a "SciFi" show. While Enterprise is a bit more bright and cheery and goofy like Star Trek tends to be sometimes, BSG reminds me of the 6 O'Clock news, which to me as a TV show blows because things right now are bad enough, the whole point of TV is to produce escapism.
Second you could stir the hype about this show with a stick, which is exactly how it was with TNG which most people tend to agree until the 3rd or 4th season was totally overblown. I would be more interested to see how things are next season, to see if there is a ratings drop off after the shine is off so to say.
And last Enterprise is a canciled show on the lowest rated network out there right now. Whats the point in compairing a show that is trying to reinvent its self after a dismal start thanks to the Beebs and that people wont be tuning into because they dont want to get hooked on a dead show to a show just starting up that had huge controversy surounding it because of it being a retelling of the story... I bet you a million bucks had Enterprise been a retelling of TOS instead, they would have the same hype and stuff surrounding it.
nielsens dont come remotely close to telling the truth.
2.3 million viewers based on their methods means 2 people watched roughly and they rounded up. It could be VERY likely that even MORE people watched it, it could be likely even less, Nielens day has come and gone but unfortunatly they are still using the system and it doesnt come close to being accrate anymore.
And god forbit you question them about it. People have been sued by them for doing that.
Its storys like this that make me glad I didnt turn fanboy and run off to WoW cause it was "teh uber"
First off, I can see Blizzards stance on the balence issue, in the fact that there is no issue beyond the fact that people dont like playing warriors because they arnt rouges... but well last I looked thats the POINT it is supposed to be different. To take this into terms more in line as to FFXI which is what I play, people (cough NA teenybopers cough) have taken the ninja class to be the end all class in that game, despite the fact it has many downfalls and for most people gets boring real fast because it involves lots of money, making and downtime simply because it has a spell that allowes for blink tanking. Is it a good tank, depends on what your fighting but regardless everyone goes for the class.
Because of this people complain now that other classes are not balenced, two of the biggest being dragoon and thief. The only thing is its MENT to be that way, no one job can do it all and quite frankly most players who play nin cant hack it to begin with. Is it the developers responsibility to change the game dynamics for those other classes? No not at all. People just have to get smart about the fact that Ninjas arnt all that.
Next is the squatting issue, this swings both way for me, in one way the developers where right to do something because quite frankly you dont have a right to damage propety which theoretically by causing server problems you technically are. Even in the real world you would likely have gotten arrested for that.
From the other standpoint though, these are paying customers too so Bizzard really needs to have more tact. Recently we held a funeral service for a player in who died in RL on Fenrir server in FFXI and the GMs came out in full armor to honor him. Im sure had GMs done something simular and said something to cool the crowd down the situation wouldnt have gotten as bad as it did in WoW.
Last time I looked just about everyone had a PDA. Sure apple didnt stay in the PDA market, but they did create the market as it is known today. Why would you consider the Newton a failure when all that went wrong is that it came too soon for there to even be a market for it?
screw leaping boots, sniper rings and most mnk/sam/nin gear is still the most expensive items in the game behind the peacock charm.
Sqenix is trying to fight back in game while they pursue them in RL but the biggest problem is as it was pointed out in one of these topics before what happens if you lose in court? Worse what happens if you win and real players use it as a way to be rehimbursted in RL terms when they lose something due to a glitch.
And your going to have a Judge who probably doesnt even know how to turn on his own computer handle these cases?
The Playstation WAS Nintendos answer to CDs, except Nintendo canciled the project. Sony, pissed it had spent so much money deveopling the system with Nintendo decided to keep it going. But everyone in the industry expected Sony to tank for EXACTLY the reasons you pointed out just now Nintendo and Sega had fan bases.
Now coding for the Xbox is a lot harder than you make it to be with numerous reports of complaints in line with how hard it was to code for the PS2. Likewise Xbox also had no backwards compatability or even as big a library as you say it does, in fact its library sucks. There are numerous ways i could think of that anybody wanting to enter the market could compete and win against the "big three" so you shouldnt poopoo the idea it could be done.
Will it be done though, not likely, I couldnt see any reason for Apple to resurect Pippen.
Playstation and Gamecube never pulled a profit untill well after their release. Game machines dont pull profits, developers paying to develop FOR your system on the otherhand do. They make a profit just not selling the machines which is exactly what all the other companys do to.
The market of 1994 is nothing like it is today. Microsoft would be fighting an uphill battle against 3 companies, and what could Apple provide that one of the other big 3 (Sony, Nintendo or Sega) dont already.
All of us can go at this all day. If you want to learn about why your statment is moronic pick up "The Ultimate History of Video Games" by Steven Kent... You will fine that your statement has been repeated time and again and proven false more often than true.
Except it wasnt JUST the products that was released. Im sure Apple is pissed about that, but he talked about trade secrets still being produced that where not released at Macworld.
And like everyone has pointed out, Apple is simply sueing to find out who told him this, likely to fire them.
Just wondering about those numbers there, last I saw EQ FFXI and Lineage all had playerbases outnumber WoW's sales figures.
And remeber just cause people bought it doesnt mean they played it.
No sorry doo not pass go do not collect 200 dollars.
Your right, stability does take time, but they used theirs up a couple of massive server outages ago. And compairing WOW to SWG is unfair because my crash happpy XP box would fair better than SWG.
Compaired to most games out there WoW sucks for uptime. At least in most cases the other games didnt just crash. Wows servers have done just that more than once.
If what you said was true then you would have to rethink every song and book and movie out there that talked about being "gay" since gay means happy and not the current definition.
Dont be a tool, even in the IT/CS world PC still means Personal Computer. Thats as bad as calling it a IBM/PC compatable when IBM doesnt even make a OS for the consumer models anymore.
Windows PC would be closer to the right name for it.
Only thing I ever have to download drivers for is a printer. And even then they usually come with the printer.
and before you say anything I install these things into schools for a living. While they still manage to make my job a living hell with OS 9 I get maybe a call a month if that for OS X
trust me its a great thing to get. I used to think it was BS too but just the most minor thing wrong will get me to send it back to get it fixed professionally. sometimes they fix things that even you didnt know was wrong but they came to the conclusion needed to be replaced anyway.
Word of advice though, backup your data, they will not back it up when its sent so if your HD is whiped thats it unless you specify to back it up, and then its a like a 50 buck charge.
Saves the time when a cop stops you by letting them swipe the card in and not punch in all the info on the card.

He was dead, Jim
Why?
Cause with the dell Im carrying one computer, maybe two. With the mac mini Im carrying 5. It is a major hassle rearanging one computer and hooking up all the cables etc, which all cut into my time, having the thing weigh 7 or 8 pounds doesnt make it better.
But blowing up people in spaceships is cool!

not likely, he was simply trolling for trolling sake and as usual the bleeding hearts modded him insightful when it was a troll.

If anything he looks like something Chiang drew for Robota, ALSO written before LotR.

Obviously not in this case but if you go through old cases companies can do some REALLY really dirty things to keep their secrets secret.
One of the leaked "secrets" was never released at Macworld... so its very likely its still in development
That kid is in a HUGE heap of trouble.
Word of advice though, backup your data, they will not back it up when its sent so if your HD is whiped thats it unless you specify to back it up, and then its a like a 50 buck charge.
