The problem isn't the stigma. The problem is your inability to enjoy a completely legitimate hobby because of some silly stigma attached to it through disinformation. If you have a problem with the stigma then educate those you care about the game, everyone else can go fuck themselves because to you their opinions should not matter.
First point for not having the twin towers in the first level. Because of memory they ended up making the background use only half of the landscape, which did not include the shot of the twin towers.
Although I realize the majority (?) of people running servers are probably not running some sort of windows environment, the majority of office workers probably use Windows. A very quick and painless thing to learn when you leave your desk is to press the windows key + L, which means to lock the computer (in Win2000 locks it, in WinXP goes to the logon screen).
I lock my machine 90% of the time I leave my desk for longer than 1 minute (should be 100%). Even though there's nothing important on my computer, you'd be suprised at the different types of problems that could occur:
- Someone could send an email from your machine for fun. - Some people who don't work at your company could just walk in the door and start taking pictures around your office after hours (Yes, this has happened at where I work). - Some enemy at your work could delete all your files? I dunno if anyone's that nasty.
But yeah, I even do it at home so my family uses the guest account as opposed to mine.
800x600? Won't you already be getting >100 FPS in most games anyway?
Perhaps, that particular benchmark was for Far Cry at 800x600 w/ medium settings, and the lowest fps was around 168, and the highest was 188, so a 20fps difference.
They were using this video card: NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT with ForceWare 77.77 drivers
However if you look at the opportunity cost of buying this ram because you have a bad video card and play at those resolutions, then it would still be more worth it to just get a better video card. Even if you want to upgrade your ram, it would be wiser to just save that extra money to put into a 6600GT or something.
It would have been interesting if they did the test with an older video card as well, like a GeForce3 series.
One of my friend's friend had this obsession with having the bleedy edge gaming rig and would always upgrade his video card. I think his upgrade cycle compared to mine was something along the lines of 3:1. I'd have a TNT2 Ultra (hand me down), then grabbed a GeForce3Ti200 (second hand from cousin for $100CDN), and just recently I bought a GeForce6600GT when the 7000-series just came out. I'm sure this guy has one of the top of the line ATi cards or something in the $400USD+ range.
Although I didn't read all the text (about 50% of it), the benchmarks were what I was interested in, as well as the conclusion. So to sum it up:
2-2-2-5 timings at 400MHz t1 memory is the fastest but costs twice as much and the performance gains are almost non-existant except in lower resolution games (i.e. 800x600 you may see an increase in 20 fps, which I think is a lot!), and of course the cost of the ram in this case would not be justified because putting that extra money into a better video card would be the better thing to do.
Only if you're an overclocker is this worth it, at least from their benchmarking and perspective, which I'll accept.
What's with all the porn on your computer? I decided to just "hack in" - don't worry, I'm a white hat - and I found all this stuff on your computer! I don't feel like helping you out anymore because this horsebj.avi business is just too disgusting and really shows what kind of person you are, and frankly I don't want to help you.
I will give $10,000 to charity if someone creates a game where Steve Balmer goes on a rampage killing hundreds of spammers with his deadly bloody chair (as the default weapon), and in Quake 3 Arena fashion to also have a key bound to various choice quotes uttered by Mr. Balmer like "I will fucking bury that guy" and an animation of Mr. Balmer's model pointing in front of him to go along with those utterances.
(Disclaimer: I won't really donate the money because I'm a poor college student)
Take Shakespeare, Joseph Conrad, Charles Dickens, James Joyce, and so on and so forth and what have you and what not.
Inside those literary works that these artists have created are ideas that humanity can relate to. And I'm not referring to copyright or anything, but when an artist shares his or her work and it becomes a part of our culture (like Star Wars, Lord of the Rings etc), then it should be the artists duty to step back and symbolicly "give it to the public" by not fucking with it anymore.
Art is like wine, it gets better with age, but when you open up the bottle and add something else...well you're not aging it anymore are you?
Star Wars: A New Hope isn't close to 30 years old anymore, because "apparently" it was never finished! It has had its "classic" pass revoked.
When you're in such a huge organization as Microsoft, or Google, or a Fortune 500, great management of any kind is important. The best managers make the office politics transparent, the resources needed to finish a project always available, and is a communication and trust layer between the engineers who have those great ideas and upper management who are blinded by other factors when it comes to the importance of the engineers' work.
Also moving up the ladder, those executives have the power to change an organization, and the great ones do it for the better.
I believe that in both management and in the technical aspect of the corporate world there are bad apples in both areas. Bad managers, bad engineers, and without good managers and engineers alike, all would hate their jobs.
A quick note: I'm working on a project right now at the city hall of a very large city. There's myself who is the low level information guy (mostly monkey work), my boss who's a professional materials manager, and then there's the project manager who's a great public speaker. He's the one that's been carrying this project because he's able to cut through all the bullshit with all the city divisions, and no doubt he'll be the one carrying us when our project comes to council next month.
My dad's in the CNC machinery business and a business associate of his in Windsor, Ontario knows this guy who's invented a similar thing. It essentially aligns the air molecules in the fuel making it burn more efficiently, practically eliminating (or completely?) emissions. It takes about 6 months or so to work optimally but in the end it improves fuel economy roughly by 30%. It costs around $400 CDN or so.
They're basically magnets.
Anyway, regardless of how it works he's seen his fuel economy go from 13 to 8-9 (litres per 100 km). He drives a big sedan (Chrysler). I believe with bigger cars you tend to notice the difference more.
I don't know the name of the product but last I heard the inventor was trying to get some major car company to get them installed in all cars. I'll find out the name of it and an update from my dad later on tonight (9pm est) when I see him.
Only the stupid masses (i.e. you and I) would pay money to go watch advertisements...oh yeah, and afterwards watch some movie that's probably not that great anyway. But it was worth it because of the $10 popcorn combo, right? You can buy a huge rib-eye steak at your local butchershop with that money!:(
I'm Canadian. I don't call myself an "American" because I live in "North America". I call myself a Canadian, and if people want to know where Canada is then I would say "It's in North America."
Anyway...I refer to the United States of America as "the US" or "The United States" because "America" could in fact cause some confusion as has been perfectly demonstrated here. So even though the people of the United States are called "Americans", calling the USA "America" can cause confusion and should probably not be used in an international forum.
Well Ice T himself was definitely a rap artist, however his group Body Count - which is only a small part of his much bigger solo career - I believe is considered...well I'm not really into many forms or rock / punk / heavy metal etc. The wikipedia article on Body Count classifies them as "Punk Metal".
Going after a company known for providing charitable contributions and trying to get the owners arrested isn't exactly the smartest thing to do. This guy should pick his battles better.
If the Seattle news media are reading this, I have a great headline for you:
No matter what would happen to PA because of him calling the cops on them, his reputation with the mass media would definitely go further down the tubes!
You want to go after a company that has done this!? Shame on you!
I sure don't.
The problem isn't the stigma. The problem is your inability to enjoy a completely legitimate hobby because of some silly stigma attached to it through disinformation. Makes me want to play the game again.
I wonder if rioters will be next for this type of weapon?
On a related note, could these sonic weapons cause any other damage besides hearing? Could it affect things like the heart or other organs?

Oh yes, and that website also crashed my Firefox.

God! People these days!
Yeeeeaaahhhh, about that stapler, mmmmmkay???
Mmm'kay? Yeeeaahhhh.
You've been watching too much hentai. Sheesh!
But if it was true then maybe we could finally make a live action film adaptation of our favourite tentacle rape hentai?
Maybe I've been watching too much hentai. (And ironically the authentication word that I have to type in is "nailed".)

Haha, your retarded joke made me laugh though.
+1 Funny to that.
That art becomes universal.
Take Shakespeare, Joseph Conrad, Charles Dickens, James Joyce, and so on and so forth and what have you and what not.

Slashdotting the entire internet!
I could easily fix this problem. I would just restore it from the Recycle Bin.
Off topic I know...

Apparently he watches too much Simpsons, and in the episode where the Simpsons went to Toronto, Homer referred to it as Little America. :P

It was Ice T's group Body Count that did the infamous "Cop Killer" song.
