- VLC plays movies that you're currently downloading,
- VLC plays fragmented files (i.e. 30% completed torrent downloads),
- Quicktime files, DVDs, SVCDs, VCDs, even music files
There have only been 1-2 files that I wasn't able to play with VLC, and even then the audio still played (which wasn't sufficient but shows that the software tried anyway).
I never download any other player anymore, this one has all the codecs and capabilities.
At work I'm running at 1024x768 and the white space is just huge compared to a screen with 1600x1200 resolution. Two thumbs down. Bring back the old google maps!
Wedbush Morgan Securities analyst Michael Pachter said EA will get productivity gains from the changes and, if it needs to, will control costs by weeding out slower workers.
He said the artists who are reclassified as hourly would likely get more supervision and be assigned work-related quotas, resulting in less job satisfaction.
"Think of it more like a factory worker," he said. "The assembly line just sped up."
Is this really a win for the artists? Are quotas a good thing for game development? If an artist is supposed to pump out x amount of textures or models or what not, then will they still be able to put out great games?
I can see it now, an artist who's talents are probably at the higher end of the spectrum...but this is because he takes a bit more time on his work, thus giving managers the excuse to fire him at whim because he's not "performing up to standards."
It would be nice if video game employees would be properly compensated for their hard work and dedication as opposed to just working at $13-18 / hour if you converted their salaries to wages.
But I have a question, are European game companies the same?
What would be even funnier is if you haven't had any milk in the first place, but your body decided to produce some as a subtle sign of just how funny this really is, even though it goes against everything in science.
Usually to break in leather boots quickly is to get them completely wet and walk in them until they become completely dry.
To really minimize blisters while using boots for long days, and your feet aren't used to them, I would suggest what I use for hiking (did 100km(60 miles) in 4 days, feet were okay): Bring 2 pairs of liner socks and 2 pairs of woolies. The liner socks act as a second layer of skin and generally stay put while sliding against the woolies.
You know...you do "preventative maintenance" on cars so that instead of having to pay $5000 to fix a problem every two years, you pay $300 every one year.
This is the same thing, you move along with the times - in this case go towards an open document format, so that you have the choice to use a number of different software applications or operating systems. In fact, by not allowing something like this to happen it will cost a greater amount of money in the long run.
Too bad 90% of organizations seem to have only short term profit goals instilled in their minds, closing themselves to greater opportunities.
I'm from Toronto and I just took a trip to the Grand Canyon, Zion National Park, and Bryce Canyon, amongst other places in Utah and Arizona. I know that Arizona is pretty warm, but the smog and humidity in Toronto made the GC 120F temperature in some parts "Not that bad". So, Canada is warm, very warm (at least in the summer). But yeah, the winters are still cold.:P
Everything I see on tv or here on clear channel radio is recycled crap. Often times the next big thing comes out of that 99% crap pile (like garage bands, underground artists etc).
Not that too many people will read this comment... here's the text:
If google were to come up with their own IM client and protocol then this could be what will give them the big boost in numbers (kids, teens, young adults primarily) to switch to all of their products (gmail, desktop search, etc) because Microsoft is keeping everyone at hotmail since MSN Messenger is tied into it.
Until this occurs the vast majority of the younger generation will still be stuck in the MS world (at least in Canada, maybe AIM or Yahoo in the US?).
Maybe a highly intuitive integrated VoIP solution could give them the edge? I dunno, 1 hour of sleep last night so please be kind...

I don't know whether to laugh or to cry. Luckily I did both.
You mean jail time? I think that's what happens.
"Dear Diary, Today I went to the sto-"Hello, my name is Clippy, it looks like you're trying to write a letter, would you like some help?" Press 'OK'"
True.
Because we all know that 10 years of WinME would result in cruel and unusual punishment, even for them.
I saw this yesterday and I'm really unimpressed by it.

Wigwam CoolMax Liners - Liners.
Wigwam Ultimax Cool Lite Hiker Crew Socks - Woolies
Every day you can wash 'em and hang them to dry (since they're all quick drying) so no more than 2 pairs of each are necessary.
As a side note to any Canadians reading this, Mountain Equipment Co-op has the same stuff.

(and I think people don't realize the power of this, as should be clearly demonstrated by this post)
"I'll probably get modded down for this, but..." *insert comment that's not even that controversial and which 90% of /. agrees with anyway*
"I hate trolls" - Willow
He'd just befriend them and tell you "it's an animal thing". Then they'd go have squid sex and play D&D after.
That kid has some serious allowance!
will be said when you start to complain that Hitler v2.0 gets elected in the US Gov't.

Venetian Snares was right?

You're post is +5 iFunny.
Yes I have. Actually, I was wrong to add that one in there, because I think Cairo wasn't pitch black, so I retract that statement.
I still played Deus Ex 2 twice, but the second time was just to see how fast I could beat it (2 1/2 hours).
